    great project well done thanks for sharing, I am looking to do the same with my Parkside plasma cutter I have the pro version, I here people talking about hi frequency cutters and that it would be a problem but I can't find out much more about it, have you had any issues with using Parkside plasma cutter and it destroying the electronics?

      Tank you for watching!!🙏🏻 I am currently working on my V2 cnc plasma table with 3d printed parts, inspired of JDs garage, but with my own touch..😊 I did not have any interference issues with my setup, then I’m not sure if it is that my cutting surface and earth clamp is separated from the machine frame by resting on an Mdf board, or if it is that the plasma cutter is an low frequency unit.. haven’t had any problem with it so I’ve didn’t mind getting in to it.. but I’ve know what you mean.😁 good luck with your build!👍🏻

    Thanks for making this video. I am hoping to use my own Parkside Plasma cutter with my current homemade C-Beam gantry machine. My cutter is a PPS 40 BZ, without a built-in compressor. My question is: does the tip of the torch need to touch the metal stock to initiate the arc? I doubt these cheap cutters have any kind of high frequency start, but nonetheless I don't remember having to touch the tip to metal to start the arc. Does your microswitch trigger the torch at a small distance from the stock surface and keep it at that height during the cut?

    • @buildsstuffoutofscrap
      @buildsstuffoutofscrap  Год назад +2

      Thank you for watching my madness!!!😅 I’ll set my trigger to hit when my torch is about 1 mm from the metal, and that works just fine, I will rebuild my mounting for the torch tho, so it’s floating by springs to follow the metal when or if it warps.. i hope you got the answer you needed? Cheers!🍻

    • @Ijusthopeitsquick
      @Ijusthopeitsquick Год назад +1

      @@buildsstuffoutofscrap Thanks for answering! One more question: does your gcode also control the trigger to interrupt the torch between cutting moves (e.g. between letters) or do you achieve this with "safe height" moves on the Z axis to turn off the microswitch?

    • @buildsstuffoutofscrap
      @buildsstuffoutofscrap  Год назад +1

      I’ve set the switch so when lowering the z axle it trigger the torch when it is about 1 mm from the metal. Haven’t experimented with trigger by g-code yet, but when I’ll build an new cnc plasma machine I planning to try that. But First up is to build an cnc mill😊

    i dont get the thing you did with the trigger, you losened the kabel for the trigger so you cant pull the trigger with your finger, and then you putt a "clicker" there instead, but that "clicker" isnt conekted to the torch, is it? then how does the torch know when to ignite?

    • @buildsstuffoutofscrap
      @buildsstuffoutofscrap  Год назад

      The torch ignite by the micro switch when the z axis lowers to the right cut height and it’s adjustable depending the thickness of sheet metal I am cutting. I hope that makes sense?😊

    that is very nice build! How the external switch works? I'm also thinking to build a veeery cheap plasma CNC to cut only sheet metal (1.5mm) and today I just discovered that cheap Parkside machine, nothing beats that price! I'm just figuring out how your switch works.

      Hi and thank you!
      The switch is moveable depending the thickness of the steel thickness.. then I’ve use vectric aspire that is an wood carving software, I’ve set the cut depth to 1.5mm and one pass... then I zero my plasma cutter (Z axle)to the material and adjust the switch so it’s pressed in at that height then I lift the Z axle 1.5mm and zero it again... so when I run the g-code the z axle go down 1.5mm and starts the plasma cutter... sorry for bad explaining but I hope you’ll get the idea, or else just ask again!😊👍🏻
