    The G80s got the same hate in the beginning, now everybody wants one LOL.

      @@Chytrej__ People are talking about the car’s weight as if they are engineers or experts. I can guarantee 99% of people wouldn’t know the difference had reviewers not brought up the weight conversation. Most people who will drive it will be grinning at the torque and will probably laugh nervously the first time they put their feet down in the G90. It was the same with the G80: people were blah blah blah about the grille and the weight before they drove it. Now, the G80 has probably sold more units per year than previous M3s, despite being the most expensive.

    This is a very sensible review of the new M5. It provides additional contextual detail about things like the iDrive, the weight, the performance, etc. So many so-called BMW fans are slagging off this car without putting things in context, such as the fact that BMW didn't just wake up and decide they wanted to make a much-heavier M5 but they're working within the regulations. Furthermore, people need to consider the traditional market for the 5 Series and M5: not boy-racer types who want the bragging rights of a .1 second advantage. This car will be perfect for company executives, business owners and management-level people who want an executive ride that can instantly transform into an animal for when they want a bit of fun. Besides, despite the weight, the torque will feel insane. My only gripe is that they haven't said outright whether there will ever be a Competition version so anyone buying it may end up disappointed if they announce a Competition come next year.

      For the last part of your comment, they already said there will be no more competition models.
      Going forward it’s just M2, M3, M4, X3M, X4M etc etc.
      For the rest of your comment, it’s finally nice to see someone has some common sense regarding this car. It’s very stupid that people care about a 3.5 0-60 time like they will notice a 0.2 second difference when driving(if they ever drive the thing). The internet is filled with idiots but luckily these types of people usually can’t afford it anyways so this car should do well.

      @@gaara4667Okay, I didn’t realise they said it officially about the Competition models. You’re right though, many people are just parroting each other without thinking. Thankfully, BMW do their research and deep analysis and don’t necessarily listen to them, otherwise they’d be like some of their competitors who stick to safe designs and continue to be boring.

      @@wdbsurfer if manufacturers listened to idiots who can’t even afford their cars then a lot of them would not exist today. This is an executive car with surreal performance so it’s about comfort but the boy racers with peanuts for brains will complain because they see other people complaining. They don’t think for themselves or do research.

      Fucking thank you 🤦.
      People who complain about the 5 aren't the target audience. No one's gonna notice a 0.1-0.3 difference in the real world.
      The 5 series was never really the hooligan track car that can be dailyed. That was the 3 series job. You want something to goof around with? You have a 1-4 series as options. More than before.
      Plus let's be real. A 0-60 mph of 3.5 is super sonic period. Even more impressive for something like that.
      I'm technically not the target audience, because I'm a 24 year old who falls under that group of young guys who like to throw their cars around, but I do really like this M5.
      I like the minimalistic look and big size of the car. This is the first BMW since the F90 M5 that I'm actually happy with from the jump.
      I think this car will grow on people eventually.

      @@Chytrej__ true and that sucks. But most drivers aren’t taking an M5 on track. And if you want a small, nimble M car for the road, then an M2 or M3 is no doubt the way to go.

      If they call any g90 a CS that will be a joke. I have an m5cs it’s very similar driving to the e60 m5 because they both are low in weight. This g90 is garbage 5500-lbs

    This new m5 is good, but the previous 2021-24 was a masterpiece. I don't think there will ever be a more beautiful and perfect bmw

    One thing BMW designers should of done. When they put the electric plug flap on the guard they should of designed it with a sport fin on both sides of car so it doesn't look so odd with the square flap on one side of car. A bit of down side I think.🤔

      Do you have a couple million lying around to develop an engine for a single model? An engine that would be able to pass emission regulations that are getting even stricter In July 2025? Why hasn't BMW just upped the boost to get a reliable 700hp+ on the S68? How many KM would such an engine last before running into problems?

    Idk why people are upset over the weight. Its still a luxury car not a track car. If you have the money for one you can do whatever you want to lower the weight. That's why its called fuck you money

    Beautiful car and everyone complaining saying it’s too heavy they did well with the 0-60 for how much bigger this is than the last generation much more luxurious all this adds weight but they also added power also there will be different variants of this coming which will have even more power and quick 0-60, most people will simply remap the car if the 0-60 was bothering you so much this wasn’t made to be a drag car or even a track car it is a big heavy comfortable cruiser the m3 is more track focused I’d say

      It is not much more luxurious. In fact it is less luxurious. No option for luxury seats with massage function, no soft close doors, no 4 way climate option, limited interior leather, no opening sunroof (personally I liked this since it allows nice fresh air breeze from outside when driving fast without too much noise) cheaper materials (plastic for things which previously where a more premium material, prime example plastic paddle shifters instead of carbon), no ambient air smell system, current Bowers and Wilkins surround sound system is inferior to the previous gen Bowers and Wilkins diamond surround sound system, and more. All of these options were a thing on the last gen M5 and even the last gen 5 series meanwhile they can’t be found anywhere in the 5 series lineup now. The cars are heavier and are less luxurious and of course slower than previous gen. I’m disappointed. The look on the exterior is okay though, they didn’t go overboard with that. Interior looks cheap imo compared to previous generation.

    Why does this appear like a paid promo?
    I'm sorry...600kg can't be compensated with by just 100hp of power gain. It has LESS power to weight ratio than F90 M5. It also has 600kg more weight and that WILL be felt. And it's 0.2s slower to 60mph! And it doesn't look as good.
    Previous engine had 635hp. This has 585hp. 50hp has been lost somewhere.

      Car & Driver test drove It and recorded a 2.5s sprint from 0 - 60mph. That's a full second faster than BMW claim of 3.5s
      More tests will prove this car is WAAAY faster than 3.5s. We all know BMW massively underrated their numbers
