    A failed repair, but a mine of invaluable lessons on repairing approaches, testing and diagnosing. Thank you Sorin for a most enlightening electronics tutorial.

    Liquid damage is one of my least favorite repairs. Win some, loose some so we still have to try i guess.

    Sorin 3v is always present line and check 5v line also. The board is going is s5 state but when you press power button its drops the current clearly there is some short or ic fault on S0 state/line which is preventing board to switch from s5 to power on s0 state. You need DSO to check if any line has pulsing voltages or short

    26:00 Sorin, you clearly connected the duck in reverse, that's why the current goes down instead of up

    You are right, ~1ohm too low.
    Got a spreadsheet with good vcore readings, and good reading for 10th gen is:
    i7-10510U, 4ohms and takes current 1A

    I do some very occasional odd repairs requiring soldering and always had a hard time. I made some of that rosin and isopropyl alcohol mix flux and it works wonders, really good stuff and very effective. Two things I learnt to make things easier is good quality solder wire and flux, these 2 are essential. Thanks for all these super useful and educational videos.

    Personally, I think they should make the CPU replaceable. Like they used to with a Ziff Socket. But that would make the laptop thicker. But there seems to be a lot of these going out.

    Bună seara sir Sorin! Eu nu-ți scriu în engleză dar rămâi eroul meu. Atât înfrângerile nenumarate cât și victoriile nenumarate, fac parte din munca noastră de zi cu zi. Cel mai important lucru este că în viață ai fost sus și ai știut să cobori și iar ai urcat,ceea ce dovedește că ești un mare învingător. Nu te lași bătut pentru nimic și asta dovedește că ești si vei fi un mare maestru. Pararea mea este că pentru o victorie deplină în toată această luptă, mai este necesar de o stație de reflow, rebaling IR. Pentru a inlocui CPU-uri sau poate nubse merită. Acum numai tu știi mai bine dacă merită sau nu. Ești de nota 20 cu felicitări! Multă sănătate și mai aștept videoclipuri. Așa pățesc și eu cu placi de bază dar mai întâi masor rezistența de alimentare procesor pentru a nu munci mai deoarte în van. Mulți au fost de acord să le schimb placa de bază după ce le-am explicat cum stă situația. Nu merită să cumperi de la chinezi piese de schimb deoarece este loterie curată. Am cumpărat 100 de tranzistori si nu am găsit doi să-i imperechez. Asta spune multe. O seara plăcută ție si familiei tale!

    • @tgr9636
      @tgr9636 Год назад +1

      Nu cred că stația ar fi problema ci proveniența procesoarelor. Cum a zis și el, nu ai cum să le cumperi de la producător... și ce găsești cel mai probabil sunt luate de pe placi de bază defecte fără o garanție că procesorul e bun. Cum ai zis și tu, e pur loterie. Îmi aduc aminte de 2 videouri de-ale lui Sorin de acum 2-3 luni in care a primit un chipset crăpat și un procesor curbat.

    sorin. Dear Friend. Human energy is limited and you don't have to fix everything. I know you're doing your best. The condition of this laptop is hopeless. And you have to tell the customer that he should buy a new motherboard. Greetings to you my dear friend🎉

  • @hansregli8678
    @hansregli8678 4 месяца назад

    a) Would it have been possible to solder over the CPU from the other board? b) Maybe you could have asked the customer if he is willing to pay for a new CPU with any guarantees and if yes, solder on the new CPU. Could still be much cheaper than a new notebook.

    I was fixing all sorts of electronics. Then I started to get a bunch of liquid-damaged things. It destroyed my confidence. If you see a little bit, that is workable. If the entire board is water damaged, not even going to try. Water damage is so hard to fix at times.

    Liquid damage is extending on all the board. I would not work on it. On a small area I would try. But not in a case like this. Secondly, I would never work on a liquid damaged motherboard that has been cleaned before. The cleaning process hides the affected areas. You could have liquid residue under a lot of ICs and not knowing about because of the cleaning. Basically you should remove all the ICs just to check.

    6:24 I’m a beginner and I need to ask why the next logical step is check the BQ chip and do not try to restore de 19V on the second mosfet. In other videos I’m sure it’s the procedure, I’m wrong?

    • @electronicsrepairschool

      the BQ chip is the chip which is triggering the both input mosfets, solving the problem with your bq chip, it will restore you main power rail
