      Fantasy☯Fangs The metalcore was sad :(
      It is sad that is what people associate with metalcore. Play some ABR inspired stuff for the metalcore section.
      Rest were pretty good, I enjoyed melodic death metal but it could have used just a tad more.
      The death metal was lacking a bit but other than that mostly positive :)

    Dude, that was hands down the best demonstration of those styles I've ever heard. Best part is that you weren't even remotely copying anyone (that I've ever heard anyway), and each riff and riff combination was very catchy and melodically expressed the style you were demonstrating, PLUS, you proved without a shadow of a doubt that NO metal style needs to have the gain cranked to 11 to sound good. Keep it up brotha. /m/,

    I first watched this video 12 or 13 years ago. I picked out the genres I liked. Now the list is expanded. I must say, the genres are well represented. But I would say that the examples themselves are great, because when you try to listen to something in a certain genre, you don't immediately stumble upon something you definitely like. But now I like absolutely everything in the video. I rewatch it in its entirety at least once a year when I remember it. Thank you so much for it. It still delivers.

      Must of been some software for his guitar maybe just add in the drums to make it run smoother either that or it's just a delay/out of sync

    • @thomasbackman7400
      @thomasbackman7400 10 лет назад +2

      The video frame rate is pretty low, and that causes it to be out of sync. Though it seems to be 25 fps, which might be enough, even if 30+ would be better for guitar videos. Either way, I see no reason whatsoever to think this is fake.

    • @DrewKane

    That was fuckin SWEET. I've played for 20 yrs but never truley got into playing metal thoughI love listening. I've read that "deathcore" is the most hated subgenre?? That bands hate to be labled it?? I think Hatebreed or Acaia Strain is hardcore, mixed with Six Feet Under or Dying Fetus - death metal...yea, wouldn't sound good! Oceano is pretty fuckin good. They get labeled "deathcore"....IDK :-\

    • @TheGuitarGuy555
      @TheGuitarGuy555 11 лет назад

      Afrobomination It's not deathcore bands that are known for the 000-000-0 etc.
      It's a lot of hardcore bands and some 2005-2010 metalcore bands

    • @TheGuitarGuy555
      @TheGuitarGuy555 11 лет назад

      nah dude a lot of death core bands of crazy solo's. As someone who listens to all of those genre's I think I can say it's those "hardcore/beatdown" like Emmure that play nothing but breakdowns haha

    • @Yotrymp
      @Yotrymp 11 лет назад

      Yeah, a lot of deathcore sounds the same, but you can find some--SOME-- real gems within the style. Another reason why it's hated is because the fan base is really young. But I don't see what that has to do with the music.

    @Penguin772 11 лет назад +12

    Heavy sounds like progressive. Actually it sounds exactly as Queensryche's Operation: Mindcrime album that came out in 1988.
    And your "progressive part" sounds like metalcore.

    • @shineek
      @shineek 11 лет назад +3

      Queensryche is a Heavy Metal band in the first place , not a progressive metal band , second if the progressive part sounded to you like metalcore , than you really have zero idea what metalcore is .

    • @Penguin772
      @Penguin772 11 лет назад +1

      Shinichi Asakura Ok, prog metal part sounded sort of something like simplified prog death and metalcore. Early Queensryche was heavy metal, they became more of an old school progressive metal (like Fates Warning and Dream Theater) in late 80s/early 90s.

    • @TheDondoran
      @TheDondoran 11 лет назад +2

      Penguin772 I agree with Penguin about the prog metal part. None of this sounded much like prog metal. Not even the heavy metal section.

      That's because every prog metal band has its own style... I don't know two progressive metal bands, that sounds any similar!

      Excactly ive heard prog metal bands that are as heavy as death or black metal , and ive heard lighter prog metal bands that sound more like melodic heavy metal , also ive heard bands playing prog metal that sounded like jazz + power metal . Kiddos plz stop thinking that a genre has a flat description and each band of the genre can be compared to each other , most of genres have very light characteristics . the same goes with a genre like post hardcore , there are bands that play post hardcore as light as alt rock or post grunge and bands as heavy as metlacore where its hard to tell if they are still post hardcore or already metalcore . So next time when you start saying crap about something you dont know go and hit yourself with a hammer , there will be one less internet troll or even somehow you get smarter this way .

    The whole composition together together is genius. The individual types capture exactly what the genres are about (even though the thrash and prog were a tad weak). Besides that it was pitch perfect.

    I like it but you can't have a video like this without Doom Metal, come on man, one the first heavy metal bands to come into existence was early doom (Black Sabbath).

    • @matthewcowell
      @matthewcowell 11 лет назад

      They were barely even Proto-Doom. They influenced bands what brought about Traditional Doom, but were never really a Doom Metal band. Just the odd slow riffs and slow tempos in a few songs of the first 3 albums.

    Metalcore is NO Metal! :P
    (and I didn't like that Melo Death Part much... was too short and imho not representative enough... should be more of a combination of pagan/folk, death and a little power ^^)
    Despite that: Awesome Vid ^^

      Sephiroth - Let's Play! BTW,"being metal" does not make you good,jazz and classic are also pretty good,and "being pop" does also not make you bad.
      Simple as that.

      Is there a difference between Guns 'n' Roses and Metallica? Is there a difference between AC/DC and Slayer?
      Listen to a GNR song, then a Metallica song,
      Do the same with AC/DC and Slayer,
      You'll see the difference.

      If Metal is a subgenre, then what is Death Metal, Power Metal, etc..?
      Is it a sub-sub-Genre?

    • @franco521
      @franco521 10 лет назад

      IMHO, every sub(sub(sub(..))) genre of metal should be attributed to a single band, or a few at most

    • @AndersMikkelsen
      @AndersMikkelsen 10 лет назад +2

      rebghb There's a ton of metal Genres, that tons of bands combine, to make new and shiny genres. But most genres are attritubed to a handfull of bands. For Example Metal Core, which is represented best by Killswitch Engage and As i Lay Dying.

    Great video! It was cool to see the different styles without anything vocal. I think the music is metal is so great that there's not so much need to focus all on vocals like most other genres do.
