Of all the videos I've watched about hanging mirrors using a french cleat this one has helped me the most...I bought mirrors for my bedroom 2 years ago and haven't been able to put them up but after watching this I'm good now..Thank you and amazing work btw.
If it's frameless, with wood back.. should I put the bracket on the mirror at the very top, or lower down, say about 4" or so? *I'm using a wooden cleat also, and attaching it with liquid nails. Thanks!
Thanks for the informative video. My plumber put up a 4 foot mirror over a vanity for me. He used "monkey hooks" and picture wire. Anyway, the hooks failed after 2 months and my mirror fell. Fortunately nothing broke, but I'm getting at least a 3 foot french cleat so I can be sure to hit a stud. Hopefully not a water line!
That's what happened with the 1st heavy mirror that I mounted. Cracked it. But I was able to save it with some decorative art painted on it. Now it's taken me 3 months to work up the nerve to do another heavy mirror in the next room! 😲
Hi Just wondering, if I use the cleat to hang a vanity mirror, (roughly 30-40lbs) can it be mounted uses soley drywall anchors (that it came with) or do I need to make sure there is a stud behind it?
French cleats come in different weight ratings. As the weight rating increases with longer mounting strips. It's always best to hit a stud if possible. And a longer strip will give you a better chance to hit a stud. With that said, always read the warranty for the cleat that you choose. They usually state that you are using the product at your own risk.
@@RENOS4PROSJOES Thanks for that! I will note the cleat is relatively long (maybe about 2 feet long) so I will try to use one of the holes to hit a stud.
Hi can you make a video showing how to install that on a frameless mirror I’m trying to install my frameless mirror without harming the wall I have since I’m currently renting an apartment all the vids I’ve seen show people sanding and what not to the walls so if you can show me a simple trick or way to doing so thank you in advance :)

Amazing! Thank you! I’ve been waiting forever to hang my mirror flush with the French cleat which are new to me
Very good video! Thank you. You explained it all very well and I think I can attach a French cleat to hang a mirror now!

Nice video
Can this same method be used to hang heavy pictures/wall art? Thank you so much for sharing
Yes you can. You just need to check the weight capacity for the french cleat, as they come in different sizes and weight ratings.

great video
Its good to see mistakes on videos, I have never done a job that went exactly as planned

I went ahead and bought Velcro tape at Home Depot and it worked just fine
Aloha! I am surprised that there isn’t a need to use a stud finder to locate one or more studs to screw into?
What screws did you use that didn’t need anchors?
I will add a link to the product, as its sold in a kit and comes with the system. Its a screw and anchor in 1.
Thanks! Thank you for sharing this!
