That train station goodbye story is sad but makes sense. It’s such a good feeling when someone is there to greet you at the airport, for example. I could see how someone might pay for this type of interaction.
Its probably someone who could not make it there that paid for that service.. so that person could feel like they were there to say bye to them. It would make no sense otherwise. Most of those services are probably paid by a third party.
you guys probably get this all the time, but you all inspired me to work stupid hard this and next year. A girl I work with mentioned she had a PT job and it was the final straw for me to decide to make more money. Thanks guys for all the years on RUclips. So so happy to see you guys now, and killing it in the best ways possible! 💜 Love from Canadur =)
There's a saying here in Japan that goes something like, You have to have 3 faces. 1st: the face you show for your close friends and family, 2nd: face you show to everybody else, and 3rd: your face you don't show anyone but yourself.
@@LaddRusso91 yeah but there's that expectation of they can get sexual service if they want to with escort service. This hangout service have 0 expectation on that category though.. but I expect some people will push their conversation to low-key sexual harrassment.
You know what most cultures in the world I can kinda understand. Even like the crazy super conservative muslim places, but somehow Japan is really alien to me. It's truly its own thing
I actually applied at a rent a friend site lol. Literally whoever is in the city can hire me to hangout and I can show them around the city. So if you’re like a tourist or need a friend to chill with, I wouldn’t mind doing it and I wouldn’t mind showing you places I know about. Especially if you’re in to nerdy stuff
honestly i'd love to use a service like this. i'd love to go out and do fun stuff but have no one to do it with. stuff that'd be awkward to do alone. so something like this would be perfect
so when I did it at the time not many people knew about it, so I barely got any request. But when I did it would be in my email which I didn’t even check till like a few days later. But I would advertise it in my bio that I can show them around NYC because I knew the area well, but if there’s more people now that want me to be their friend and show them around I wouldn’t mind it. At the time I didn’t make any money out of it but I was open minded and still am. At the time I was struggling looking for work (because I was 18 with no work experience). I think the site was really called rent-a-friend if I’m not mistaken. It’s been years since I’ve ever used it. But def if people wanna hangout and see around jersey and NYC I wouldn’t mind it, and def show them around.
I agree. I'm new to Marxism, but I believe this phenomenon of people feeling disconnected from society is explained in Marx's theory of alienation as part of his critique of capitalism. And this alienation is intensified under Japan's rigid social structure.
@@babymarxist2287 if that’s the case, why is this phenomenon happening only during the post-war period? The fact is that this pattern is consistent with what one would expect in a hyper-capitalist client state of an imperial power. See Hong Kong and S Korea, for example.
@Kevin S yes, but not to the same extremes-see “coffin home” and “banhija”. It’s also worth noting Japan and S Korea are considered first world. There is a distinction between first world and client state. It’s a measure of exploitation to allow US corporate interests to prevail above the interests of the people in the country. Obviously we have similar in the US, but we have worker protections established 100 years ago. Corporations are hungry for endless profits, however, and have been working endlessly to undo any and all regulation and legislation to protect workers and general well being of the public if it interferes with their profits-the state of US politics today can be tied to corporations working to undermine the democratic process via bribing politicians (see: FECA in 1970s, and citizens united more recently). In short, we don’t have coffin homes “yet” in this country, but we’ll have them soon if corporations have their way-hell, US can barely provide clean reliable water to it’s citizens, and affordable housing is already a thing of the past.
What joe is talking is neet Not in Education, Employment, or Training. The cause can be a combination of things. But most included it was the forfeit of living up to expectations. Especially in Japan where conformity is important. Go to this university, work at this specific company, earn this much, live this style. When you don't meet to this standard your basically a failure. Not to mention japan is a stagnant economy. Very similar across developed countries.

Yo anyone having trouble clicking on the video to display the different options like fast forward, pause, etc? Also, it wont let me drag down the video anymore. L updates.
its the anime bro.. literally go to anime expo and there are TONS of anti social awkwards people. the anime cartoons fuck up their real life world. they need more reality TV shows

7:29 I wish I had a counter going for how many time Ryan looks around. His eyes move SO much. Bro what are you looking at while Joe is talking 😂😂😂
i think that's just what Ryan does when he's focusing his attention on what someone else is saying

Hikikomori is the Japanese term for this type of behaviour, if anyone's interested
i'd do this, if it weren't for the fact that being around me makes you think i should pay you
And Anthony still gets roasted.
So... It's an escort service without sexual service. It makes sense
I read that many people use escorts for the company also, talking, hanging, not just sexual.

I would like to do that as a job over there. Just to live in Japan but its emotionally damaging for me

Wdym? Muslims are really close to members of their own gender
I am 100 percent sure they did this video before.

People are hermits in Japan because they are so tech based.
This is that Kevin hart movie “the wedding ringer” in real life 😂
Didn’t they do this already
Does this job exist in Canada
I like to do it
Seems like easy money
Disillusionment, social and economic anxiety/pressure is the reason. Capitalism…
