  • Changing the transmission fluid and filter on my 2013 f250 6.7 powerstroke with the 6r140 trans. Not bad for 160k! Tuned and deleted as well. Used a Motorcraft filter as long as mercon LV trans fluid. (Drain and fill without flush used 9 quarts)

If the transmission has had maintenance at the proper intervals then you will have no issues changing fluids. However if it has never had a fluid change and is significantly past the maintenance intervals, the new fluid will clean the grit from the worn clutches and it will start to slip.

Ya man this is good stuff. I agree about changing fluids. I got a little Honda Accord for a commuter car since diesel is so expensive here in Cali. Anywho, I got the car for cheap with 200K miles on it. I have no idea about any maintenance but I do know the trans fluid smelled like roasted marshmallows and was really dark. Not good. I did a drain and fill anyway 3 times to flush it out. I did another one 30K later. All is still good. If it's going to grenade, it will do it regardless if you change the fluid. I'm about to do this for the second time on my 2017 F250 with 78K miles on it. I tow heavy so I try to do it more often than not.

Yea go for it, maintenance can’t hurt, your trans is ether good or bad. Changing fluid won’t cause it to blow unless you don’t fill it correctly or used wrong fluid

Broooo never change your transmission fluid!!!!!! The dog rings and spindles wear down over time and the metal flake in the oil will take the space in between the bearings… be careful I’ve done it once and see it happen a few times
