Couldn't agree more, tech companies need to stop using the end user as free testers of kit that doesn't deliver. Send it straight back is the answer - retailers will stop selling it if their returns rate is too high.

technology solves problems we wouldn't have without technology. I actually switched from gopro (had 5 of them) and am happy with the action 4. After a firmware update it works flawlessly
Thanks for sharing, i was planning on switching from my gopro 11 to the dji action 4 as my gopro regularly overheats and freezes - apparently the dji never overheats and has better battery life. I'm typically recording at 1080p/30fps but dont use any external mics on my race videos.
My DJI Osmo Action 4 did THE VERY SAME THING!! Sometimes it would work, sometimes not. Sometimes it would work if I turned the camera on first, then hit record. It never really worked when just hitting the record button from a cold camera. I even sent my camera to DJI. They sent it back claiming it worked fine. Since then, the firmware has updated twice. I THINK it is now working, but I'll need to do more tests. I use the Action 4 for Motorcycle Vlogging.

You're right though, these things should just do what we're told they'll do, and the company should test their products thoroughly before putting them on sale, but the latter seems to be a thing of the past now, and whether it's an eco loo that won't flush jobbies away (don't ask...), a car, or a DJI Osmo thing, it's us consumers that do the final testing it seems. Obviously they must reckon it's cheaper to just design a thing and put it straight out there without testing it properly first, and then settle any warranty claims afterwards. Piss poor really.

Personally I’d love to see a silent movie , you don’t half go on sometimes , it might be a blessed relief, can you get it back ?
I can see that a Marcel Marceau act on a bike would not work, so as the lottery always tells me "better luck next time".
A bit unfair to include Apple in your rant, Steve Jobs' most used phrase was "It just works" and frankly when it comes to Apple computers it does just that. Shame about the Osmo as the review up to that point looked promising - but a camera without sound is a camera not worth having!

Hi, thanks for reaching out. No, I didn't raise a ticket - my point is, as expressed in the video - that it should just work, and it didn't. Why it doesn't isn't really my problem; I didn't design it.
I like to tinker with broken tech. After receiving a replacement Blackburn Dayblazer 550 front light, I took the first one apart, identified the exact fault, and reported to customer service. The price of these subsequently dropped from $40 to $30. Work arounds can be frustrating as many bike lights are poorly shielded causing crazy readings on non GPS cycling computers. Imagine an 80mph top speed, and 89000 calories burnt in 10 miles! Horses along the route, seriously threatened!
My GoPro Hero 11 works very well.
