@@rendidatriansyah6103 He admitted that he wasn't into KOF for a long time though... just reflecting the american fg culture anyway. From what i've heard the arcade scene (including early Evo, that is a product from that arcade culture) was not open to SNK fgs in general.
I Definitely Agree. I honestly feel like I'm one of the select few that knows about the infamous SNK Boss Syndrome when it was at its peak. Definitely thankful for it.
Re-releasing the old games via sagas and adding rollback would be the best route, especially re-releasing 11 and being brave and doing so for 12 so we see how bad that game was
My hope is one day SNK releases a collection of all their Atomiswave era games like this, Neowave, SamShoVI, Battle Coliseum, and even Metal Slug 6 with rollback netcode and all the characters they added from console ports into the game as well as all the bosses playable as well
The console version btw also has a unique "arrange" option (not just for BGMs), which are a set of rebalances that can be toggled on or off. There's also a judgment system that dictates a winner through time out by performance instead of current/total HP unlike in other fighting games.
Yeah it’s not common to see a console only rebalance that is “optional”. Usually it’s either permanent, whether intentionally (like the DC port of 3S “fixing” stuff from the arcade ver) or unintentional (odd inaccuracies with the port ending up buffing or nerfing certain characters)

"This [KOF 15] is probably my favorite modern fighter, and that most of my gripes with the genre lately don't really exist in this game" definitely sums up where I'm at with the genre at this moment
SNK is the one company which I really felt stuck to their arcade routes in the gameplay of what they put out, the fun is still here, whether I'm playing SamSho (2019) or SamSho II, KoF '98 or XV
The fgc says they want a game that reminds of the old school style, and that has no comeback mechanics, no butchering of the core system, and no saving half (or more) of the roster for dlc. And i've seen a lot of people in the fgc saying that graphics and single player content don't matter over the gameplay. And the fgc is deeply in love with CvS2... i.e a game with a "turn based" team system that includes lots KOF mechanics spread over the different grooves. Still KOF is incredibly ignored by the fgc, especially the american fgc. That's something i never understood.
Availability and online is what kept KOF from really being popular. The cabinets were rare and their online has been trash. KOF15 was nearly unplayable online for months. The Best ability is availabilitt and that is something KOF has always struggled with in North America
KOF XV didn’t succeed because the dlc optics were terrible, it was poorly optimized for a late-gen fighter, one of the game’s main selling points wasn’t accessible and yes, the online netcode wasn’t very good until 6 months after launch.
@@carlosaugusto9821Availability/quality of online play + it just hasn't been marketed heavily enough, honestly. I think the new Garou will have pretty solid results though! Helps that it also looks better, and that most people who says graphics don't matter are liars and still want their games to actually look cool
You endorsing KoF like this, especially with your final words in the video, gives me hope that more people will give the series a legitimate shot. A friend I made playing Street Fighter 6 has always been an SF fan but never branched out beyond it to other fighters (like most SF diehards). Until I said I thought he would love the latest King of Fighters and because Terry happened to be coming to SF, he was actually down to give it a shot. Fast forward to today and not only does he love it but is now sad he never gave it a shot before. We now switch between SF6 and KoF XV on our weekly fight nights when it was just SF6 before.
Add me to the list of people who need to give it a better shot. It's a shame XI isn't ported, and hopefully the game gets some much-needed exposure. I suppose I can settle for some of the recent GOG or Steam releases in the meantime!
@@Kamawan0 Unfortunately KOF 11 has very little chances of becoming popular. KOF first of all is a niche franchise, and 11 is a controversial game even among the community, so it won't get a passionate support. Even KOF 13 Global Match, that added rollback, did that for the game. Sure it helped and it was much deserved, but the game is just too niche.
Never got why people complained about the stages. Perhaps it’s because the big loud celebration aspect past stages had were toned down? I’m glad kof11 has these picturesque serene backgrounds and it gives the game its own identity.
The older KoF games usually only had 1 big celebration stage per game, so I don’t think that’s it. I think it’s more that the intricate sprite art that SNK is known for was toned down.
@@chasepalumbo2929 That's not exact, first of all. Especially knowing KOF 94 and 97. But anyways, i think it's more accurate to say that the stages used to be more "detailed"... Meaning in animations, or in npc crowd, or literally detailed background, or in interactions, or gimmicks like variations between rounds or stage intros. Not all previous games had all of that at once, but there were no games with too little of it anyway. There was a balance. Like the KOF 95 stages of Iori, Kim and Athena teams, they were desolate but still were elaborated compositions. And the fact is that the most important classic KOFs are 94-98... so they are from the period when SNK was really working hard on stages and created that general vibe for KOF stages. The KOF community has a strong traditionalist attitude, so they are attached to those games, that carry most of the references of "the right KOF" in their opinion.
The devs seem to have liked CvS1. But interestingly, KOF 99 to 01 have literal semi sci-fi themes, but the og KOF devs lacked the vision to rework the presentation and hud aesthetics in that direction. There are some nice ideas in KOF 99 to push those themes, but still modest. CvS1 (and later KOF 11) show much more of that.
Out of every KOF game, XI has the most well-done roster. Mainly for its hidden bonus fighters, which is what all KOF games were lacking. The rosters needed lists of single-entry characters so they won't get forced into plots and teams like how Geese often does.
@ Actually, I agree. XV has a better roster than XIV. Especially with Mature & Vice being recently added, if only Adelheid Bernstein were on their team as the leader.
I agree, Magaki's fucked up alien look is dope as Hell and I think people just project their dislike of the fight mechanics onto the character and design.
As many people put it, Magaki was a Metal Slug boss in a KOF game. Can't say I disagree with them. He's one of the most irritating bosses in SNK history, and it's intentionally so. Even by SNK Boss Syndrome standards, Magaki was extraordinarily cheap, like being able combo into his LDM after a sweep or throw. Literally no other KOF boss did that, and it was more irritating than the kind of 'oh crap' you felt after eating all 3 hits of Rugal's Genocide Cutter in 94, and watching your health bar melt from full to red and becoming dizzy to boot.
@@tcchip Yeah, Magaki is an irritating type, something that didn't exist in most older KOF bosses except Goenitz, but even so he totally beats Goenitz in getting you mad. Also Magaki really doesn't look cool, so i have the feeling that the community is less forgiving because of that as well. It's different from a very good looking boss being broken, like Rugal, Goenitz, Krizalid, Igniz...
I think Magaki doesn't look good specifically for a KOF boss and knowing the history of KOF bosses up to that point. One thing is understanding rationally that the Ash saga was pushing for those weird designs (starting with Mukai from 03), which is totally ok, but another thing is the real feeling that the change was like a backwards step from the high standards of boss designs like Rugal (and Omega), Goenitz, Orochi, Krizalid, Zero, Igniz. I've seen a lot of opinions like that about the contrast of the Ash saga bosses... including a frustration in part of the community about KOF continuing to push the monster designs further. I wonder if that's just because of KOF 13's big global popularity. KOF 14 and 15 bosses only reinforced the appreciation for the cool old ones, as we can see in the strong impression from the return of Rugal and Goenitz in KOF 15.
@@carlosaugusto9821 Magaki is my most hated boss to fight in KOF history, but it's not so much as as because I hate the character. Rather, it's more like SNK did their job right: when they said they wanted to make him someone whose fighting style really got on your nerves, they did. Also, unlike the other KOF bosses prior where you would actively try to stay away from them and make them open themselves up, Magaki was the exact opposite. He was happy to be the one zoning you from across the screen, while you were desperately trying to reach him only to keep getting knocked back. Goenitz and Orochi may techincally be zoners, but the CPU didn't play them like zoners. Most of the damage Goenitz landed on you comes from his command grab rather than his regular tornados. Funnily enough, when I played Maximum Impact Regulation A and used Ash there, I felt he was so stupidly good that if they put his design (albeit toned down with all the target combos removed) back into a mainline KOF title, he'd easily be the final boss. And true enough, in XIII he did carry over some of his stuff from MI:RA, and also became the final boss.
The Challenge mode from this game is the kind of single player content I'd like to see more in fighting games. 98UM and 2002UM also have similar challenge modes.
I dont think a lot of people complained about Magaki's design. People hate Magaki because he's a bullet hell boss in a fighting game, he pukes projectiles from both sides making it borderline imposible to defeat.
Looks like a 10 year old kid came up with Magaki's powers Teleport, spam proyectiles from everywhere, going invisible, a full screen super, the only thing missing was Wolverine's heal factor The only good thing about Magaki is his theme Still, hope he never returns!
‘As a young American white boy’ thank you guilewinquote for making us feel seen I never met anyone that played KOF until I met people from other countries
Every time I see this game I remember super best friends "Worst fighting game stages" and the memorable quote, " People's dreams are being cancelled!!"
Ayyyy! The PS2 version of this was my first KoF! It's a ton of fun and got me to check out the rest of the series after only being vaguely aware of it for years
This was my first KOF game. I picked it up from the bargain bin along with an Art of Fighting collection when I was but a wee baby first getting into fighting games. As a child of Capcom, the world of SNK was strange and foreign to me. The more realistic character designs and aesthetics were fascinating. XI in particular has such a unique look. The simplicity of the stages feels like Shinkiro's old art of the characters just hanging out in normal situations brought to life. At the time I didn't have the deeper fighting game knowledge to get further into KOF (though I did later pick up XIII) nor did I have any local friends interested in trying to learn it with me. So I could only try it out so much. Thankfully, nowadays I have a friend who was willing to take the chance on XV and we're having a blast. Thank you Mr. Win Quote for making this video and helping me gain a further understanding for this game from my past. I hope SNK re-releases it one day.
The thing about SNK having a more realistic style, is that I think they sort of abandoned it when they released The King of Fighters XII and XIII, because in that game, plenty of characters had more exaggerated propotions and the background characters in some stages themselves looked more cartoony than in previous games. I'd say the orginal Mark of the Wolves also went for a more cartoony look, especially for some facial expressions when they characters are hit and some comedic moments with characters like Hokutomaru and Dong Hwan, I think it was due to the fact that the artist for MotW was Tonko, who has a more exaggerated style
I am calling this out before it happens: *_The first game from the new KOF Studio that SNK just announced will be a port of KOF XI._* Mark my words. 😎 (Also, greetings from Aguascalientes, Mexico. Love your videos. And welcome to the KOF family, brother. 😉👍🇲🇽)
Glad to see you're enjoying KOF, and I hope you can manifest that rerelease for us! Also, the choice of clips while talking about "unlocking KOF brain" was 👌
Man, I swear, just two days ago I was watching KOF XI clips and wondering how we still don’t have a re-release for PC and modern consoles. With KOF Studio and XIII Global Match on PC, it doesn’t seem unbelievable to me that we might get it sooner rather than later.
SNK. RE-RELEASE KOF XI WITH ALL THE PS2 EXTRAS AND MY LIFE IS YOURS. PLEEEEEEEAAAAASSSSEEEE. ITS THE ONE WHERE YOU ADDED LIKE 7 EXTRA CHARACTERS COMPARED TO THE ARCADE VERSION!
Glad you got into KOF. I heard that at some point, Maximum Impact was going to be called KOF '04 at some point just to keep the streak going. Really interested in a video on that one in particular
@WildMalboro I'd fine with Malin coming back, like with Momoko. My joke was that I can see Bao unfortunately coming back if Momoko does, and I'd rather Bao stay gone.
Just want to say I learned about your channel from your guest appearance on "The Worst Fighting Game" and have been really enjoying your content and recently subscribed.
@@GuileWinQuote Videos actually reminded me of a PC fighting game I played years ago from a weird multi game disc I found. It wasn't translated but doing some research it turned out to be called Sango Fighter. So thanks for the flashback :)
Ive been playing Kof games since the 90's, but some how I completely missed 11 and 12, probably this the first ever footage I have seen for this game and it looks great, I might try it
XI is one thing and you should check it out. There is no reason to play XII unless you want to see what an unfinished beta version of XIII (that SNK charged full price for IIRC) is like.
For me personally, KOFXI holds the special distinction of being the one and only fighting game I have ever seen where the _very first thing_ about it that grabbed my attention was its HUD. No I'm not joking and yes it's a compliment! 😄
I love when KOF bursts its bubble and reaches a newer audience. Especially when it comes to KOF XI, which is a deep cut from the franchise and it surely deserves more recognition. Sadly it is also the hardest installment in the series to play officially nowadays, since it hasn't been ported to the modern consoles yet. I hope you keep playing KOF and bringing more of your rich analysis about it in the future!
I bought this game in 2008 and didn’t really appreciate it’s beauty like I do now. I still have it along with my ps2, gonna boot it back up and play it again thanks to this video! You’re awesome GuileWinQuote !!
So glad that you had done this video AND exposed a good chunk of the fgc to one of the most underrated fg's of all time😮 . . . Next 98 & 02, please 🙏 😅😊
One aspect of KOFXI I am surprised you did not bring up is that it is one of the only fighting games I know of where it uses an alternate time out victory condition. The color bar underneath the timer is called the judgement bar and tracks the offensive momentum for each team. Hit you opponent and it swings your way while taking a character out greatly swings it in your favor. If the matches does go to a time out, whichever side the bar is pointing to is the winner, regardless of life remaining. I have seen it where someone lost two characters and was down but was able to rally back and take out the opponents two characters, setting it back to a one on one. This caused the judgement bar to be in their favor now and they won at time over even through they had much less life remaining. It does not come up often but I always found the mechanic interesting.
Went to a flea market in the summer of 08 and stumbled upon kof XI and neo geo battle coliseum spent hours on those games as a teen and I agree kof XI is very underrated
Ayyyy, fellow FGC flea market enjoyer here! 😎 🇲🇽 I got introduced to fighting games thanks to a pirated copy of KoF 2003 and CvS2. I didn't even knew how to throw fireballs. Crouching Heavy Kicks hard carried me against my friends. Hahaha. 😂
@BknMoonStudios by 2008 I was 16 and I grew up on PS1 and N64 so I had experience with fighting games also had kof 99 on Dreamcast back in the day I never know about kof XI when I bought it on ps2 at the flea market me and my lil brother battled for so many hours on that game
It's not quite fair to say SNK missed _all three_ shots. IIRC, Maximum Impact was, at that point, the best selling KOF game by a pretty wide margin, especially in the west.
The Maximum Impact series not only sold decently (for KoF), but nore importantly, _made decent profit for SNK_ . Which is why the decision to cancel MI3 to go all in on the disastrous KoFXII is all the more baffling.
18:20 that has to be the worst and LAMEST excuse to not want to play KOF. "I don't want to learn 3 characters"... dude, everybody is doing it, sure you can do it too!
There is an unofficial port of KoF XI for Dreamcast. In fact there is a lot of Atomiswave games that got ported by Megavolt85. Pretty cool someone went through the trouble to do it. Great game even though I haven't achieved KoF enlightenment yet.
So glad you chose this game for a video! Loved my PS2 port back in the day, but all my friends played SF4 or Smash Melee and wouldn't give it a chance :(
Honestly, an evolution of the Strikers system to be less limited would be fascinating. It would help distinguish KoF from Fatal Fury and SamSho. (I still think the new Art of Fighting will be a 3D Fighter. I just feel it in my heart.)
SNK Heroines brought back the tag system and it works really well The Items are like the strikers from the NESTS Saga games, the Items don't break the game SNK Heroines gameplay is fun! It is very overlook Hope we get a sequel
I love wacky color palettes myself. I hope KOF16 gets more weirder with character colors. I honestly hope that KOF16 has a more unique roster like KOF11
Tbh I'm glad more people talks about KOF XI, it's literally one of my fav KOF games and the most interesting ngl. And the fact there are Characters that could have been in NGBC but got in KOF XI instead is quite interesting and surprising! ALSO ASURA BUSTER MENTIONED, omg I pray to god you are going to talk about the Asura Series from the small japanese company called FUUKI. Would made my day better!
I LOVED XI!!!! It was KoF, but NEW and different. It was an Atomiswave KoF, so it felt so familiar while having new background graphics. I have it on PS2 and it’s a joy to play.
I love the intro. I want to unlock my king of fighters brain and have been watching vids for years as a Tekken and Street Fighter player , some anime like early Arcana Heart. This inspires to to keep going until I “get it”.
I'm so glad more people are talking about KOFXI. It's probably one of my Top 3 KOF games, and I pray every day that SNK rereleases it on modern hardware.
I used to run daily tournaments at a tech company. We had MVC2, CVS2, and KOF XI. Within six months, KOF XI went from being an unknown game to being the most popular game. So many people had never touched a KOF game before that, and I was extremely happy to see dozens of new fans being made. By the end of my time there, I had played some of the most amazing matches I had ever experienced. To this day, nothing else feels as good as playing KOF XI with other players who are dedicated to it. The sheer amount of "wtf" moments had us cheering and yelling constantly. Duck King 4 lyfe. Hail to the king
Broooooo, I'm totally in the same boat as u. Always played kof super casual, but finally in xv I took the time to learn the game. It is by faaaaarrrrrr my fave modern fighter. No comparison whatsoever from anything else. I've also been going back and playing all the old ones with my new (still quite limited) understanding of how to play this complex and brilliant series of games. Since I put on xi, it's all i wanna play. I haven't even learned the specific mechanics yet, but i am just loving this game to death, playing with traditional kof gameplay. Def gotta find some time to learn the game specific stuff. Since I've learned how to play kof better, no other fg compares. My appreciation of this series is enormous. Great vid!
Never had as much fun with the series until this one came out. The music is excellent, stages are solid, and the character mix was excellent. My favorite kof❤
XI IS SO GOOD!!! Not just for the tag team experience, but it feels like the aesthetic was new and fresh while maintaining the SNK flair. I still have my PS2 port disc somewhere…
I remember getting the PS2 version of this game for my birthday and being my favorite thing ever. I loved the art style (Both of them) and it was so damn fun. I've always played KoF games (LatAm Priviledge), but XI was so different. Please give it rollback!
Took time, but you did. Knew from the beginning when this game came up you'd love it. And your KOF history is similar to a lot of people. Been playing since 99 in the arcade and I know a lot of people would get hooked, they just never gave it a chance.
KOF deserves its roses. I’m so, SO happy you actually gave the series a shot, Guile! Not only that, but also enjoying it, as well! Makes me so happy. Also, I wholeheartedly agree with you about KOF 15, too. It’s also my personal favorite modern fighter! It’s so good! 🥹❤
Amazing video Guile! KoF XI is really interesting, hope this 2025 I'll break the wall of playing KoF just like other fightings! They are really amazing
KOF XI to me is probably a top 3 KOF games and possibly the most interesting because it's a tag game. I liked it so much that I actually bought a Ps2 and one of these rare Neo Geo CD Ps2 controllers in order to play it on original hardware with an SNK controller. It's really unfortunate that at the time 2d games in general were seen as obsolete and archaic until Street Fighter 4 revived 2d fighters
The "Global Match" treatment for this game would be great since it not only modernizes the game in terms of platform/online accessibility but can include all of the extras from the console port which would shake up the competitive meta. I really hope SNK does this.
GWQ, you're hitting my Fav KoF and SF(EX3) in the same year. I'm glad you gave them both a try. Fun Fact Kula has an air projectile in 11, and it becomes her jump CD animation in 15.
Having the options of 3v3 OG - 3v3 Tag - 1v1 was awesome! The challenges were a fun way to unlock the decent amount of bonus characters on PS2. Cancels felt so smooth and easy, letting you do really cool stuff w/o too much effort. The color editor allowed for such a unique touch to your own personal roster. I put so much time into both KoF XI and CvS 2 back in the day due to their amount of features / ways to play the game. They kept me engaged and really unlocked my fighting game brain.
loaded KoFXI and played a little bit with the CPU. Game feels amazing, I think I've never played a KoF game where lights into special combos feels so easy to do.
Great video of KOF XI, it's a classic though at the same time it wasnt as well received then, most players then preferred the traditional KOF format and went back to playing 98 or 2002. One thing you missed out is the spinny balance thing that circles the timer in the middle. In case of a timeout, the winner is actually determined by where this thing is leaning towards instead of the side with a higher health total. It's an interesting mechanic, especially if fights are quite even, though time overs are pretty rare.
Another really cool aspect of KOF XI is that time outs aren't based simply on who has the most health, but rather is based on the half-circle bar around the timer itself, which goes off of the momentum of the fight itself. Essentially, you can start off terribly, but if you manage to regain control in the latter portion of the match & maintain that momentum before time runs out then you would still be determined the winner due to your skills. It's kind of similar to Street Fighter III's judges, but this one is showcased in real time & much easier to figure out.
I think the most underrated moniker belongs to KOF2001, great ratio system and striker system, largest roster on Neo and the biggest moveset per character, stages are bland but not horrible. Portraits are cartoony as hell and I think that's why people bash on it the most.
I've watched a lot of TAS/superplays of KOF XI, and what sticks with me is, yeah, the aesthetic and UI. It just looks really, really good. The proper use of lowercase in the UI, the extremely smooth transitions in team select, and man...the win screen is so cool-looking that you want to see the win quote even if you're read it so many times before. It feels like an art/design team fully confident in what they were doing. They were just having a blast and the game is better for it.
The two UM games are so beloved by the community that I really wish we got a few more. 2000 and XI would be perfect fits considering they're the 'best' of the striker and shift systems. At the very least I'd love global match re-releases of the home versions. Secrets unlocked from the start, rollback online, etc. The problem with XI's home release is the extra characters are really buggy. I used to be able to find a website that had hit/hurtbox data for them, and for some the hurtboxes actually vanish on every other frame (some glitch) for tag in, running animation, and other things. XI is still peak though, and honestly is up there with both UM games for me.
It's also nice to remember that the PS2 port has a option to turn on 3D stages (also including new stages) and most importantly, it has a option for traditional 3v3 without tag, so if you like KOF but isn't interested in the Tag mechanics (like me) you can play it just like another good old KOF with a exquisite roster and OST.
Still waiting for KOF XI to be ported with rollback and PS2 characters i'd sacrifice SVC Chaos and KOF XIII GM for it. Hoped you would talk more about Shion, he has a lot of goofy crazy stuff

I guess they wanted to differentiate from previous sagas. Kyo had crowded city stages, K had like backdoor stages, so Ash had like open happy places.
The older KoF games usually only had 1 big celebration stage per game, so I don’t think that’s it. I think it’s more that the intricate sprite art that SNK is known for was toned down.
It's the 3D stages, it seems like nowadays it's just cool to sh*t on these and KoF XI is not the exception....
The bar for background art had been raised so high that backgrounds like those from KOF XI looks mediocre.
KoF XI's aesthetic is such a great product of its time. Y2K is one of my favorite aesthetics and KoF XI checks all of its best boxes.
I highly recommend Rage of the Dragons for this aesthetic, it was just rereleased too
@@aeroburgerthat game is gorgeous.
Out of every KOF game,
XI has the most well-done roster.
Mainly for its hidden bonus fighters, which is what all KOF games were lacking.
The rosters needed lists of single-entry characters so they won't get forced into plots and teams like how Geese often does.
I think KOF 15 has the best roster, but ok, 11 (ps2 ver) is not much behind.
@
Actually, I agree. XV has a better roster than XIV.
Especially with Mature & Vice being recently added, if only Adelheid Bernstein were on their team as the leader.
Thanks for the spotlight on XI and mentioning the hardedge wiki!
Guilty Gear games used to have this kind of mode too.
I still have nightmares from finishing the 98UM challenge modes. Thank goodness the ones in 2002UM were entirely optional.
Agreed, I loved these in the games.
Ok, I am sold, i will give it a shot
LET'S GOOOO
I dont think a lot of people complained about Magaki's design. People hate Magaki because he's a bullet hell boss in a fighting game, he pukes projectiles from both sides making it borderline imposible to defeat.
I'm squarely on the side of "Magaki is the worst KOF boss."
Looks like a 10 year old kid came up with Magaki's powers
Teleport, spam proyectiles from everywhere, going invisible, a full screen super, the only thing missing was Wolverine's heal factor
The only good thing about Magaki is his theme
Still, hope he never returns!

The coolest KOF game ever made. Great video. More people need to know Kensou has a Dragon Install
Ayyyy! The PS2 version of this was my first KoF! It's a ton of fun and got me to check out the rest of the series after only being vaguely aware of it for years
That was my last, very fun game but I wish I had friends to play with.
KOF is so peak
This game has Oswald in it which automatically makes it among the best
I am calling this out before it happens:
*_The first game from the new KOF Studio that SNK just announced will be a port of KOF XI._*

Glad to see you're enjoying KOF, and I hope you can manifest that rerelease for us! Also, the choice of clips while talking about "unlocking KOF brain" was 👌
An Atomiswave collection would be great but definitely would settle for KOF 11, I've been waiting for a port of it for a long time.
Ok how long before this game gets an out of nowhere re-release?
Mark my words: *KOF XI port will be the first game from the new KOF Studio.*
You heard it here first! 🤫
Whenever it is, it’ll be announced during a Nintendo Direct

I hope they re-release the PS2 ver
Man, I swear, just two days ago I was watching KOF XI clips and wondering how we still don’t have a re-release for PC and modern consoles. With KOF Studio and XIII Global Match on PC, it doesn’t seem unbelievable to me that we might get it sooner rather than later.
Your described relationship with KoF is exactly where I’m at. One day I’ll dig in and get that KoF brain.

Love tag systems no matter how broken so XI has always called to me, same with NGBC.
For me personally, KOFXI holds the special distinction of being the one and only fighting game I have ever seen where the _very first thing_ about it that grabbed my attention was its HUD. No I'm not joking and yes it's a compliment! 😄
Thank you for this video! it's one of the greatest piece of kof11 advertisement ever made.
i also agree on rematch button hahaha
They gotta port this.
The crossover picks on KoFXI are wild and unexpected, and I love it.

KOF XI really needs a modern port. Easily in the top 5 best games in the series

1:59 - Personally I love KOF mainly because it's team based, but not tag team based. I don't like to change between characters during a single round.
I wouldn't mind if KOF XVI revisited XI's gameplay ideas.
13:33 I like how you introduced the PS2-exclusive characters this way!
Honestly, an evolution of the Strikers system to be less limited would be fascinating.
It would help distinguish KoF from Fatal Fury and SamSho. (I still think the new Art of Fighting will be a 3D Fighter. I just feel it in my heart.)
SNK Heroines brought back the tag system and it works really well
The Items are like the strikers from the NESTS Saga games, the Items don't break the game
SNK Heroines gameplay is fun!
It is very overlook
Hope we get a sequel
I love wacky color palettes myself. I hope KOF16 gets more weirder with character colors. I honestly hope that KOF16 has a more unique roster like KOF11
I'm shocked SNK hasn't re-released this game...
Maybe they’ll get code mystic to crack the code on these Atomiswave games but I think the fact that it’s Sega hardware might be holding them back.

I LOVED XI!!!! It was KoF, but NEW and different. It was an Atomiswave KoF, so it felt so familiar while having new background graphics. I have it on PS2 and it’s a joy to play.
My first experience with KOF right here. I saw the box art and I thought it looked cool
I love the intro. I want to unlock my king of fighters brain and have been watching vids for years as a Tekken and Street Fighter player , some anime like early Arcana Heart. This inspires to to keep going until I “get it”.
KOF XI is one of my favorite episode! Thank you for reminding people, how good it is!
Great vid!
Your videos make me feel like I understand how to play fighting games. I don’t. But it feels like I do. Thanks.
Dude you totally mentioned my comment in your podcast/interview! Made my day!

One of the most insane KoF entries till date and a must have for any combo junkie/enthusiast. Good to see XI getting more props over time.
I have been loving kof so much in the last year so its awesome to see a video like this, hopefully i get more people to play with soon
I just have thing to say after watching this video....
DO YOU WANT TO PLAY SOME KOF?

I love playing with Ryo in KoF XI, also love the arranged tracks and gameplay. It's great to see a video talking about this game
Thanks for this! Always felt XI has been a bit underappreciated. The order select song randomly pops into my head.
This game is in my favorites even if I didn't really knew how to play it.
I love how u didn’t actually talk about xi gameplay all that much and this was just a kof love video.
