those welds are all cold welds grind it out and turn your welder up and reweld if you want it to hold in the trail or road im referring to the ones up front !
Exactly that's what I wanted to say too!! He welded to cold and also with GMAW ( solid wire). Be careful!! Hope that your welds will hold. But if there is a big strain on the metal structure you will not want to rely on hope right!!?? And on a 4X4 there will be sometimes for sure. See how it goes but next time use SMAW ( stick) or Fluxcore wire instead! My opinion :) Otherwise great project and thanks for sharing!
I'm building a 4wd Mitsubishi Montero but dropping in a 2wd 4.3 and 4l60e but converting into a 4wd for my rig. I think there's a few things I can get from this whole I'm brainstorming my build. Nice videos my friend
when you have a shackle flip in the rear suspension goes up and back those traction bars wont let your suspension to do that its gonna wanna jam.. look up traction bars with a shakle on them so it can allow your suspension to flex more
Yes sir, one gear head watching with interest! You've done quite a bit of some fab work on that dude so far. I see some huge fender flares in your future. (ha ha)
boy.. i just wanted to see if i could change my 2000 2.2l s10 into 4x4 if i just changed the engine to a 4.3l and throw on a transfer case and voila i would have a 4x4 pickup.. but you went ALL out! lots of work you put into it. i cant do that. great job
in the process of a sas high pinion 44 up front with a 3 link setup on a 98 zr2. I definitely subscribed cause I want to see the brake setup conversation
I built a 2wd to 4wd S10 on Toyota axles few years ago. Have fun cleaning all that 2wd suspension stuff off the front. Nc4x4.com the build thread is called the hornet if your interested. BTW that steering setup won’t work long, axle droop on the drive side will cause issues. I used a Astro van box and crossover steering. I sold the truck a few years ago and ended up buying it back few months back. Cool truck I’ll be following.
Lol those blocks are gunna wrap that axle like ceazy even with those "traction bars" also I think it's funny but he says these are 1-ton axles when a Dana 44 is just a half ton axle
Well he should of contacted Mr 4x4 himself huh? I think it's funny when a grown ass man bullies people for the world to see! Im guessing you've always known everything there is to know about everything never having to learn shit!
SO WHERE'S PART 3 & PART 4 AT U SLOWLY BUILDING ALL THIS UP HERE AWESOME JOB..... CANT WAIT TO SEE THE OTHER PARTS........ WHAT CITY N STATE R U IN THERE... CUS I SEE SOME RUST.....LOL
gilliland426 1 ton suspension on a small truck like that would ride like a tank very rough not enough weight to compress the suspension down.. need a half ton suspension at least
Kip already has 3/4 ton axles on the truck and putting 1 ton shocks on the truck with the lift kit will work just fine. he is building a off road truck not a mall crawler... don't need a soft ride!
gilliland426 axles wont effect ride the suspension will and tou dont want 3/4 nor 1 suspension on a light truck like that it would ride like a dump truck or tank.. he wont have any flex in trails cause yhe truck wont have enough weight to even bend the 3/4 or 1 ton suspension a hair bit 3/4 and 1 ton trucks weight from 6k to 8k his small truck maybe 3 to 4k
he will have plenty of travel on the trails and rock climbing,... i have seen and built alot of trucks this way and never had a problem. plus Kip will build the truck the way he wants!
I'm looking at doing the almost exact same thing do you have a list on the supplies you used or maybe a site you got the information from or something, thx
Hey man...I'm starting a project soon..2002 Chevrolet s10...extended cab... Is there a way that i can mount a dual wheel axle on it? Chev made a few..but im not sure how to go about modifying axles...i like the standard bolt pattern..but I'd like to have the rear end dual wheel. Idea's? It's a budget built..like really budget built...it's 2wd with a 4.3L..automatic...I'd love your input!
Jamie Round Chevy's full size pickups come in different payload ratings: 1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton, and used to be labeled with 10 for 1/2 ton, 20 for 3/4 ton, 30 for 1 ton and the C stands for 2wd and K for 4wd. There's more to it but basically he's talking about a 3/4 ton 4wd suspension.

I think i speak for everyone when I say I really enjoy your videos I wish you would put out more but all your videos are amazing keep it up
Bro that was a detailed description. Nice work man - exciting project.
Awesome Kip. Keep up the good work, can't wait to see the final product and hit some trails!

Yep I fully agree I myself have been welding stick, GMAW and tig for a good time and I love running it hot

Cool project!!! A buddy did a toyota yrs back. 3x6 straight frame rails with a bad ass small block and full size axles lol thing was fun
when you have a shackle flip in the rear suspension goes up and back those traction bars wont let your suspension to do that its gonna wanna jam.. look up traction bars with a shakle on them so it can allow your suspension to flex more
Looks good so far man! Can't wait to see the next video!
Nice job so far! can't wait to see it fished.

Looking real sweet, Kip!!
first thing i would do is scrap those lift blocks. one good hit and your going to spit them out on the trail

MAKE SURE TO MAKE THE NEXT VID'S AS PART 3 N PART 4 OF YOUR RIG HERE SO WE CAN ALL FOLLOW ALONG... THANKS N AWESOME COOL JOB.......
Cool stuff. The s10 truck/blazer is under rated off road I think.
Big job, looking good
I'm doing the same thing to my 2003 2wd s10 but with Toyota Dana 44 axels and rear end. Still deciding on what motor to put but thanks for your build
Guns and trucks. We would get along.

some guys go with a astro van steering box in the (oem spot) puts the drag link out front then go with cross over setup
SO WHERE'S PART 3 & PART 4 AT U SLOWLY BUILDING ALL THIS UP HERE AWESOME JOB..... CANT WAIT TO SEE THE OTHER PARTS........ WHAT CITY N STATE R U IN THERE... CUS I SEE SOME RUST.....LOL
hey can post a list of all the drive train components you used including the tubing
why didnt you do crossover steering and add a track bar?
looking very good so far Kip!
go with 1 ton truck shocks with lift kit!

nice man! I have not seen you around much! You still making vids?
Are the rear leafs on the factory mounts?!
Daniel Ward yes I just added springs and lift blocks..
Traction bars would be better if they were way beefier and hooked up to the actual axle. Not the top of the leaf. Basically a ladder bar
Use degree shims under the lewd springs to correct your pinion angle. Would've saved you a shitload of work.
What's going to happen to that steering when you flex it out and the driver side drops?
You can put the newer Chevy 5.3 ls engines in the S10. That would be sweet.
Could I do this to a astro van 2w.d to a 4x4
man the caster angle is more important than pinion angle
What kind of axle you think I can get for my 88 s10 to run some 33x12.50r20 with a 20x12inch rims
Please like,share,and subscribe.
curious too see not ei have a 01 blazer I could play with you gonna put a v8 in it

I WANT TO MAKE MY FOUR WHEEL DRIVE INTO A TWO WHEEL DRIVE HOW DO I DO THAT
is legal with the tires sticking out that much
THIS K 20.... WHAT IS THAT IN GENERAL... IS IT SHORT FOR SOME OTHER CHEVY MADE RIG OR WHAT.....???

That steering is sketchy, get rid of that style steering box , go to crossover steering it will save you a lot of headaches
whats the update on the s10?!
How much to convert $ ?
what are the dimensions of the front cross member?
Logan Norman doesn't matter on a off road rig.
you are definitely not going to like that Push Pull steering trail riding
my s10 is a 2wd street rig the 2.2 is almost too much power haha not
Dang man you lost me I just can't do it man you jabber a lot
..
Get rid of intro music... racket.
All I hear is repeating ughhh
