I was in Las Vegas in 1969, July 1st. I remember diving into the pool at the crappy motel that my father selected and immediately getting a bloody nose. It was like jumping into a hot tub, less the bubbles. We were coming home to Wisconsin from Bakersfield, California. Our car did not have A/C. Yeah, it was f--ing miserable. I will never forget it. I was 12 and my brother 16.
Oh hello, I literally just went through my first roll of double 8mm, I’m so excited to develop it, I have to buy one more chemical, I hope my camera didn’t have light leaks!
3 of the places the camera points at were owned by the richest man in the world at the time. It looks cleaner because it was new and had less people. People seem to make a mess wherever they go.
Do you have more footages of LV in 1969? I saw another two videos (but in low quality) showing different portions of this film (seems to me just like it was filmed by the same person at that time).
This is the only one I have from 69. I think I know the other that you're referring to. Similar to this one, but different - it was transferred years ago and it's lower resolution.
“The town will never be the same. After the Tangiers, the big corporations took it all over. Today it looks like Disneyland. And while the kids play cardboard pirates, Mommy and Daddy drop the house payments and Junior's college money on the poker slots. In the old days, dealers knew your name, what you drank, what you played. Today, it's like checking into an airport. And if you order room service, you're lucky if you get it by Thursday. Today, it's all gone. You get a whale show up with four million in a suitcase, and some 25 year old hotel school kid is gonna want his Social Security Number. After the Teamsters got knocked out of the box knocked out of the box, the corporations tore down practically every one of the old casinos. And where did the money come from... Junk Bonds”.
Amazing how underdeveloped Vegas was. That Stardust sign was awesome. Great film footage.
Most of these are gone but Circus Circus, the Flamingo, Caesars Palace and believe it or not the Travelodge starting at 1:31 are still there
It's like looking through the window of a time capsule.
Great nostalgia. The names on the signs are a who’s who of entertainment. Thanks.
1:37 OMG....Jasper's TOWER OF PIZZA....What memories
Got heat stroke in Vegas in 69. Passed out at motel's pool. Was 13 at the time.
I immediately got a nosebleed upon jumping into the pool at the pool.

Great footage, thanks for sharing

You can see Mt. Charleston back there around ~1:02
Great. Can't see international hotel which opened in 1969
That's crazy most if not all those casinos were owned by the mafia then but I have to admit the city looks cleaner back then.

@@VintageLasVegas I'm looking for images of The International Hotel in 69 (construction, debut in July...).
Imagine buying land on the strip at that time
Back before people ran into traffic and traffic ran into people 😑
Really 1969 and you couldnt film in 4k 60fps. Unfortunate.
