Downtown has a lot more going on than in 1994 as well, and there are more 'regular' stores, in 1994 you were a prisoner of the Hotel gift shops for the most part.

Yup it used to be that when family came to visit, we locals would drive them up and down the Strip and stop somewhere for lunch, walk around, etc. Can't really do that anymore - too crowded, too expensive and too much of a nightmare to get around.

Living and working in Vegas in the 90s, for me, was extremely good and fun. But the NIGHTS!!!! Oh man,! After we closed the bar @ 2:00am, we would go to the clubs, get industry comps, take"X", and dance and laugh till afternoon! Especially at the club UTOPIA!!!! WOOOOOOO!!! Shout-out to Dave! He was the man to know back then!!
    Damn I feel old...🤔

at 1:14 you see the original Aladdin, thats was blown up a few years later and replaced with the new Aladdin that became planet Hollywood and I think just after it is where the Paris was built. That Aladdin is where Elvis and Priscilla spent their honeymoon if I'm not mistaken.

SO frigging cool to see this. I was in my 20s during this time. I went to Vegas probably two or three times a year. … I remember so much of this time period. Walk the sidewalks on both sides of the road hundreds of times. So many good memories. I’m glad I got to see Vegas like this… I think of how much it’s changed. I remember picking up the picket signs and walking from one end of the hotel to the other. I went to all those little small businesses in between the casinos so many times… And now they are not there. Thank you for sharing this!

I was the King of the games at Circus Circus as a kid. Especially the one where you roll the ball in the hole with a 3, 2 or 1 and the horse would move accordingly. I used to bring so many stuffed animals back home! haha
Sadly, I never won the tall Pink Panther that you get from tossing the softball in the big milk jug. We went for a week every summer and not once in 7 or so years did I win that thing :(
That was my dream. Oh well.

Watching this and to think the Hacienda, Riviera, Frontier, Stardust and the Sands are gone and the Excalibur and Circus Circus still stands. And I'm still kind of surprised that the Tropicana is still there. It's fascinating watching this of a Vegas that no longer exists.

My first time was 1995 and looked very similar to this and seen it change so much over the past 29 years. Earlier this week as they are demolishing the Trop and Mirage, I noticed at the Mirage they still have the Siegfried and Roy statue that was shown in this video. I didn't realize that was so old and for some reason, I don't think I ever noticed it until this week, despite passing by it 100's of times throughout the decades. Also very cool to see Harrah's riverboat and some of the older hotels I remember, but long forgot where they used to be...

I enjoyed this video so much. This is the Vegas I remember. We started going yearly in the early 90s and stopped going in the late 90s. Such fond memories of Westward Ho and Fremont St. I was a teenager so the thing that impressed me most was the cost of food. We got breakfast buffets for 2.99, shrimp cocktail for .99. I remember the grand opening of the Hard Rock. What else? Oh when they had the plane sticking out of The Sands, for Con Air. Wow, sooooo many treasured memories.

I think most of the change is that the pedestrian bridges block the sightlines down the Strip (and the center margin and the palm trees don't help in that regard). A lot of medium-sized buildings also got built close to the street, lending to a sense of closeness (or claustrophobia) and obscuring just how gargantuan the hotel tower blocks behind them actually are.
