Chris gave me private lessons in High School. I can say- I learned more from him in one hour than I did from my HS instructor over 4 years. Very Smart dude!! glad to see you guys all collab!!!
something I've been thinking.... I'd like to see a little side series of you guys playing a lick or feature from a past show, and breakdown a little bit on ways you approached thinking about it to help you learn it, or how it was presented at first... and maybe a little story behind the grind and how it came to be or whatever. every player has their own way of looking at music, and it's fun to hear people's different processes to meet up at the same place together in the end.
I’ve always wanted to see you guys react to your shows and lot videos. I still am not confident on what groups and years you guys have played with and I’ve been consistently listening for years. You guys are so humble about it but I think it’s something that should be brought up more often
31:48 Evan, you’re not wrong. Our book wasn’t anything like X. I marched pulse in 10 but THIS X show is still my favorite X show. That 2010 X line was STACKED! Even after doing two year at RCC in 11, 12 I’ve always respected how X does their thing. I got to march with some of yall X guys at Coats. You all are good people. Love from So Cal!
love ya dudes.. I appreciate the content as always. Chris, you played in some of my favorite groups, and it's fun to hear some background stories behind moments I've observed on the surface for years!
Would be fun to see you all compare this show side by side with modern X shows like 2022 in terms of style of show, content, production value etc. X has evolved so much over the years while still maintaining the core identity of great years like this.
I remember being in that crowd that night and my mind being completely blown by every group. Up until that point the only PIW or even PSW group I ever saw was BK and Northglenn.
23:20 - I marched United 2010, and saw y'all at the Dayton REGIONAL, and then again at champs, and I feel like I distinctly remember there being at least a degree less of "drummers standing on drummers" by the end. Like, I feel like I remember a 3-layer pyramid situation early-season. am I misremembering...?
The first ending was one snare pyramid (same height as the 3 pyramids in this video), then a few other snares laid down while playing and Lee cartwheeled over them. There are still videos out there of the original ending too!
Man I totally forgot we stood there for over a minute playing the entire last chunk in the pyramid: ruclips.net/video/ZUl-Amxt7RE/видео.htmlsi=1tuj-_QL1KPYl1zL
@@chrisgaray87 ohhhh I see. My memory bloated the size, probably because more people around contributed to seeming like more "layers" maybe, but I see what you mean. Takes me back.
This year at DCI 24 I'm fairly certain I accidentally bumped into your guest there cause I was repping your sweet sweet gear in the lot. For fans on the fence: The shirt is comfy, very comfy.

I’ll take a screen shot of this comment. May possibly be something to flesh out and see what we can come up with.
@@agedoutpodcastYoooo please do this! That would be badass!

Wasn’t this also the year Evan’s tried doing digitally printed designs on the snares, tenors and bass drums?
Yea, we had the honeycomb print on the snare drums at one point.
