Murder Quilt has crow heads. A group of crows is called a murder.
My late grandmother used to make rag dolls for my mother back in the 1940s. Women would get the flour and feed sacks to sew aprons, dresses, and home made dolls. Glad to see that there is a museum dedicated to those country people. One of my favorite places to eat is Cracker Barrel because of the good, old fashion food and the country ambience.
This is what I love about this channel, you never fail to upload great, amazing videos! Love the videos keep it up!
I absolutely agree, Jacob has wonderful and entertaining content!
My question is why he doesn't have more subscribers, this is a really cool channel!! I would love to be doing this kind of stuff for a living!
FLAME73 Agree with you 100%. He & Adam the Woo deserves a million more subscribers than what they have in their channels.
It's rumored they posted a buttspreading video a while ago, turned people off.
I live about 15 miles from here. Been there many times.
Been here many times. Always fun! If you can ever get to it on the 4th of July they do an anvil shoot. And yes, that is indeed as fun as it sounds.
What a great place to visit! I'm from Florida, and stopped on my way home from a long road trip. Just so happened that there was a TV crew there filming a segment for the local news and the museum was launching anvils into the air with explosives! Apparently, that's what farmers used to do for fun... who knew?! Thanks Jacob for taking us to this amazing place!
Can see why it’s one of your favorite places to visit. So much interesting and fascinating things around there. All those musical instruments made from all different types of things. Enjoyed this very much. Thank you for bringing us along.
27:25 perfect timing for the peacock to make its call right when hes talking about twain being conceived. Haha
Comment #1 !?!
Love your videos sir! I can tour the country from my livingroom with you! Thanks for making such a great channel.
I had the honor of seeing Bill Monroe perform live; years ago; and got to meet him and talk with him and get his autograph he was very nice
Jacob what an amazing place. The folk art and quilts are so wonderful. So much interesting history here. Not sure why but have always loved the log cabins. There seem to be many on display here. Could spend days in a place like this. Thank you for the tour. Something really caught my eye is the topsie turvey doll because I have one just like it. Love your channel has to be one of my favorites. Keep Safe❤Keep Well❤
I love the old furniture and other items in the Cabins , It is so cool and interesting!. Thanks Jacob!.
Another AWESOME video! thanks for doing what you do but safely. Also thanks for keeping the videos up beat there are way to many neg videos out there during this time. Your a major influence for many of us youtubers out here, and thanks for being humble for that.
You are = you're
Took a lot of field trips there. Revisited about a year ago. Still fun.
Bagger, this is one of your top videos, such interesting subject matter and you did awesome narrating it.
I live in North Carolina now but I grew up in Harlan Ky which is right next to Middlesboro. There were a couple of Harrison’s crosses next to State Police Post 10 in Harlan near Wendy’s. They should still be there. I remember them distinctly my whole life.
I have to admit I'm just a tich curious about how they know that cabin is where Mark Twain was conceived?
They saw it go down.
It was probably written down somewhere.
DNA test maybe
Probably where the parents lived before he was born
His mom and dad carved "Mark Twain's parents banged here lolz"
Glad you're safe, healthy, and having fun!
Truly grand. Many thanks.
Thanks for being out there on the road for us Jacob! You give me hope for freedom again. Stay safe
That wood carving of Mark Twain looks more like Fredrick Douglas.
Went to this place all the time when I was younger cause my mommy worked there, my favorite part is how they still actively use some the old barns letting the animals sleep in them
Always a pleasure!
Be safe in your travels, interesting upload
Yes! I was hoping you would go back here. I love the museum of Appalachia so much. I'm still planning a trip this winter that includes a stop back here. Great video.
Fluffbutt me thought that was a cake on your dash in the beginning instead of your hat. X'D What a super interesting and cool museum!
Missed you my friend ,glad to see your back and made it thru this pandemic Much love Carpetbagger !
I agree that this is one of the most impressive reflections of time and respect for the "common" people of the area, (who were far from common). Thanks for sharing; for myself, not from the area, or the traditions, this is a treasure whose box is open now
Wonderful video! I have to put this in my bucket list of places to visit.
Excellent museum. Beautiful peacocks too....enjoy seeing you out and about again.
Great tour. Thanks for this. We have been looking for places to stop during a road trip next year.
Gonna put this museum on my list to check out!!

Don’t forget that Teddy Bear museum, in your home town, that you saw, when you were giving us a tour of the town you lived in.
I’d like to see that!

This was such a sweet treat ..thankyou .
I remember donating my outgrown clothes to kids in Appalachia in Kentucky I think? The local church had a mission group
Wow so much history love it great work Jacob!
Totally agree that is a great museum, grounds and artwork.

Oh gosh so glad I stumbled onto your channel tonight!
I'll give that kid something to cry about...

I wish I would have known that you were here! I literally live a mile away!
My family is from Lebanon Va I remember the red white and blue.
👏wish i could visit a place like this, but this vid is the next best thing. Thanks Jacob!
According to Find A Grave, "Henry and his wife Serena were murdered on February 8, 1894, at their home on Hinds Creek in Union County, Tennessee by two men named John Stanley and Clarence Cox. Stanley and Cox were under the false impression that Henry kept a large amount of cash at his house and the two men walked from Karns, Tennessee, outside of Knoxville, and attempted to rob the Snoderlys. The two men murdered the couple and were caught. They were hanged for the crime on December 22, 1894."
The Snoderlys were an elderly couple, and Serena had simply made the quilt. I assume it's called the "Murder Quilt" because she was the victim of murder, rather than the quilt making an appearance during the murder, since I see no bloodstains. Or, it's a recreation.
Thank you I enjoyed this video, I am in the UK so very interesting to me.
After 3 vlogs.. I am a NEW SUBSCRIBER! Good content! Watching from Philippines.
Awesome video bud
Hi
It's in my list of places to go...and it's not that far away. I've seen those crosses as a teenager in the '70s..either in Tennessee or Georgia..
Great video! That's the kind of museum I like...filled with all sorts of oddball stuff...
Enjoyed the video and found it very interesting.. also always enjoyed your channel... I don’t travel much , but watching your many journeys , to different places, makes me feel like I am right along with you. , and I enjoyed that. Much love to you and your family. ❤️❤️
Hey Jacob, when you get the chance, check out the Adirondack Mountain Museum. It's much like this, but about the Adirondack Region.
21:46 Pugh is generally pronounced Pyew, rather than Pug
This video was cool
Love this! 😍😍😍 Thank you for such a cool video! 😊
I don't think you are pronouncing Appalachian correctly...I could be wrong though. I love your videos by the way. Thank you for sharing such awesome content.
Exactly what I was thinking. I have always heard it pronounced "appa-LAY-shun." But it probably just depends on where you're from.
Another great video! Do you know the history of those "zig-zag" fences? Really cool!
??
@@raymondo162 (27:14) also (28:38)
During the Civil War they were used to mark positions on the battlefield.
@@ThePUMPKIN2113 Interesting!! Thanks so much for the information!
They're popular if you don't want to use nails, and I think some designs can even be built without post holes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-rail_fence
Keep up good work
Cool place
Great to see you out and about again! My dog really enjoyed the peacock 😂 stay safe 🖤
I would like to get to this one day looks interesting. Enjoyed!

When are you going to that small doll museum in your home town?
He never answered, Burl. Lol.
Country roads take me home west Virginia mountain momma take me home country roads
John Hartford above the Carpenters at 11:52. He was amazing
✝️🇺🇸👍 thank you for the video I really enjoy. God bless and stay safe out there
😍 👋Peacocks & big Dog Horses and all the other critters too!
The Murder Quilt is a murder of crows!
They made a movie about Felix Breazle, it's really good 10/10 would watch again
Possibly two Harrison Maye’s heart signs, private ownership, someone’s living room, northern New York.
dude! I have not heard of 'ANGEL CROWNS", seriously scary
Love this museum. Very interesting!!!
I love finding these out of the way, folk museums. Have you been to the dentist museum? It’s on US 60 in western Ohio. Stay on US 60 into Kentucky. The train museum in Boston is worth a whirl, especially when the dining car is on board.
Fascinating place...or at least unusual!
Awesome video! Yeah, that preacher man was crazy. Christians don't wish people to go to hell. Besides, that's just a Pentecostal preacher. They're crazy anyway! Not all Pentecostals though. Some Pentecostals are nice people. I think that guy should preach love instead of hate. God is love. He doesn't want people to go to hell. He died on the cross for our sins so we won't be doomed to hell. But I liked that he is sort of universal across the board across all denominations. Anyway, this place is cool. I would like to go to it when I get over there someday. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for showing interesting you part of the world
What an amazing collection!
You should come to upstate NY we have some museums here Corning museum of glass and Rockwell museum and the Glenn Curtis museum and others
Late to the show for me as per usual, but this place seems amazing! Just recently discovered this bit of American history and way of life. and it’s really interesting. Living in the other side of the world it’s impressive to see how people dealt with living somewhat secluded, in terms of everything being made by hand and nothing that didn’t have a purpose was placed in the homes. Reminds me of how people used to live where I’m from, well into the 1900-s. Just love it!
I was hoping you would re-visit this place. It's fascinating.
Are you planning on going to the Gatlinburg SkyBridge ? Its suppose to be opening this Friday May 22
That perpetual movement machine is interesting. if those people had stolen that piece of technology the future would be different right now. I want to investigate that machine, I always been good at figuring out puzzles I can't stock two different things together even if those aren't meant to be together.
God bless you! Nice video there.
.got to love the peacocks! I want to go there!
a bit of a misnomer , Asa Jackson's perpetual motion machine in fact did not work...but is still a fascinating bit of history.
16:10 I definitely would have been playing with the corpse dolls if i was a kid back then lol Way cool video, i rarely pass by an opportunity to visit a museum, big or tiny they all have something cool hidden somewhere and ive never left one disappointed. I think you said something along the lines once that anything that ends in "eum" is worth checking out...The James Bunch carvings were very cool. Enjoyed this one!
That Traveling preacher sure was just a mad crazy man.
