Your videos are so simple which is so good for beginners, unlike a few people I have followed with a overload of information it could be discouraging ..thanks so much
Awesome video! I replayed the part about shiny & not shiny sides a few times lol First time using easyweed htv, white, and it's been chaotic getting the proper side down. Your video truly helped & I've managed one wood ornament so far, with no probs thanks to your video! TY so much!! 😀
Thank you for your videos. I am new to my Circut air 2 but so far I am loving it. Your video showed me how to properly do the HTV.... plus I love your accent 😉
Hi. The way I do double sided shirts is to place the pressing mat on the inside of the shirt to keep the other side from melting. With a large heat press you would slide the shirt on so that only one layer is directly under the press if that makes sense.
Thanks so much for this very helpful video. Even explaining how to lay the transfer vinyl on the mat was very helpful to me. I got my project done with your help. Thanks again. :-)
Hi. I use regular parchment paper that you buy in the paper products aisle at any Walmart or grocery store. It works great... I do have some Teflon sheet that are suppose to protect the material but I like the parchment better with the EasyPress.
Hi thanks so much! I have had the color bleed or “melt” out...when that happens it means either the temp is too hot for too long, or there is too much pressure pushing down on the iron. Try decreasing the temp by 15 degrees and decreasing the time by 10 seconds. Use only light pressure and see if that helps!
Oh and yes it is totally machine washable, but when drying use low heat. High heat setting on the dryer will wrinkle the HTV and it will eventually peel.
I read somewhere that for Siser Easyweed and Cricut to use temp of 335 not 315, at times i'm finding it's pulling off the shirt and I have to redo. Am I overheating, underheating? I'm new to this and it's been a little frustrating as everytime the vinyl starts to come off with carrier . Any guidance would be helpful. Thanks!
Hi! Yes it sounds like the HTV is overheating I have had that happen several times. I have the best luck at 315 degrees and try to tack it for 10-12 secs first. Then I lift the press and remove the transfer sheet while hot (for Siser HTV). Then I finish pressing for another 15 secs or so. Removing the transfer sheet after the first 10 seconds seems to work the best.👍🏻
Hi. I used HTV on cotton drill twill but I didn’t realise that once printed, the vinyl would show the twill weave pattern. Would pure cotton or poly cotton be better as it’s a smoother fabric?
Hi! Cotton poly blend definitely turns out smoother than all cotton. The more poly the smoother. I think it depends on the brand too. I recently purchased some Bella Canva brand shirts, they feel a lot smoother than Gilden. I’ll post when I try them out👍🏻😊
Hi! Is your siser adhering well? You can tell if you can see the grain pattern of the shirt in the iron on. Try not to iron it over and over too much, it will break down the HTV and it will peel. Also, if you dry it on high heat in the dryer it will definitely start to peel. Does that help?
Thank you for your wonderful video but it would be clearer if u had used a colored vinyl because it was hard at first to figure out from the video which side is the matte and which is the glossy to lay down on cutting matte. Had to watch another video on siser vinyl and go back to your video to understand.
hello everyone!! Mine looks wrinkle and like uneven ...could it be that this temp is too hot for it ? Some says 305 2-3 sec others said 335 10-15 sec. Thanks!!
Hi! Yes if it is wrinkling then it is too hot. I have had that happen in the past...your press temp needs to be checked. You can do this with a temperature gun. It may be heating too high.
@@AppalachianHomeCo scratching my head here bc If I didnt let it stay longer it didnt stick to the fabric 😭… maybe is the canvas tote bag Im using … bc Im following what the easy press saids. What temp Do you use for Siser ?
Hi. You can use the slice tool in Design Space and split your image into parts. I have another video about how to use slice if u want to see that! Hope that helps.
Hi you’re so welcome! I love this font and use it so much, it’s called Roseroot Cottage sans serif, it comes in a package with other fonts like Roseroot Serif, Hollow, and script also.
I have used iron on before but tonight I tried Siser for the first time. When I pulled it from my mat, the design stayed stuck to my mat...what did I do wrong?
Hi! You probably just need to place it on the mat the other side down. You can check which side to place down by testing a corner. The HTV will pull up and the clear side shoul go down on your mat. Let me know if that’s not the problem!
Hi. I would follow the HTV recommendations for time and temp they are usually right on. Cricut is great about getting the recommendations precise if you are using their materials. Search Cricut Heat Guide and type in the vinyl you are using, type of material, and whether you are using a towel or Cricut press mat and it will give you a setting. If you use Siser I would try starting with Cricut heat settings. With Cricut HTV you will remove the clear transfer when the material has cooled. With Siser you need to remove while still warm. Hope that helps!
quick question i bought siser for first time and it cut all the items separetly instead of like cricut where you peel off excess vynil. its frustating doing letter by letter on a shirt. do you know how i can get it to cut everuthimg togeyher?
@@AppalachianHomeCo first thank for answering me. but its not just the letters is evwrything as long as i use the siser brand it does this if i use cricut it doesnt. do i need to change the blade settings mayb
Stephanie Lopez Oh you mean it’s cutting thru the backing too. Yes in Cricut just before you cut you can change the material setting to iron on vinyl. You can search for it in the search bar next to “material” if you don’t see it listed there. It depends on what kind you are using but I normally just select regular iron-on material. Does that help?
@@AppalachianHomeCo The first time I used Siser Easyweed Electric HTV, it cut through the transfer sheet too. I adjusted the knob to the Vinyl setting and it worked perfectly - only cut through the top vinyl material and looked like yours did in the video.
Hi. I have two different sizes. The large one is 12x24”. I like to get them from Hobby Lobby. They’re usually 20.99 for 2 large ones but with a 40% off coupon they run about $12 for 2!
Hi! In short yes you can. Cricut settings on the explore air 2 dial are set for cricut materials so just be sure to do a test cut with your machine on the “iron on” setting before you cut out a whole design. 👍🏻
Hi! It will last a really long time. General your shirt will have holes from wear before the vinyl wears off, if it has been applied correctly. Sometimes it can wear off if you dry it on hot setting a lot, that sort of “melts” and breaks down vinyl over time. If you wash in cool water and dry on low it will last. 👍🏻
Hi! I will try and do a tutorial for image transfers for you. You print out an image with a regular printer using heat transfer paper. There are different kinds for light fabrics and dark fabrics. If you use cricut then you can use the print-then-cut feature, first print your image, and then cut around it. Then you peel the printed image from the backing and iron it to your shirt. Just be sure to follow the directions and heat settings EXACTLY per the directions included with the heat transfer sheets you purchase. 👍🏻
Hi Christy, I am having a real hard time with the white Sisser. It’s so difficult to figure out the Matt & glossy sides. They are so much alike. Help! Please! Thanks
Hi! If you are using Siser Easyweed then you can use your weeding tool to try and pull up the material at a corner. The material will pull away from the glossy transfer sheet and you can tell from there which is which.👍🏻
Hi. There are a few different kinds of HTV and iron on materials. The kinds I’m using in the video isn’t that breathable, but there are some types (sport flex, and some made for jerseys) that are super breathable.Siser and Cricut brands both have breathable iron on material.👍🏻
Hi. When you are cutting out the design you want to place the htv glossy side down on the mat. You’ll mirror your image to cut it out backwards. The glossy side is just the transfer material. Then when placing the image onto the shirt the glossy side will be face up, with the image on the underside. You will iron over the glossy side (it’s best to use parchment paper over the glossy side when ironing).
Thank you so much for a straightforward video. No unnecessary information. Hands on tutorial. I was able to complete my first shirt.
