V8 and Manual Transmission combo should never go extinct.
Yep, paddle shifters don't do it for me.
@@powerboatguy2308 🤢🤮lol
@@powerboatguy2308 fr paddle shifters are cool and all but nothing beats manually shifting and becoming one with your car
@@hannialtousy6111 That's correct. I had 2 mustang GT's and a Scat Pack that were manual and fun. I had a C6 Corvette automatic that was boring to drive. I know modern automatics are faster, but it is not just about speed, in a fews an electric Jeep Wrangler will be faster than any combustion engine. They have a photo type electric wrangler that will do zero to 60 in seconds. I'm good with the traditional V8 and a manual, fast enough for me.
@@powerboatguy2308 When the C8 Corvette came out, the die hard manual guys lamented it... But the guys at Chevy were like, our job was to make this car as fast as it could be, so it didn't make sense to slow it down with a 1940's technology manual gearbox. lol
I drove manuals for many years, but autos are now faster, turn better lap times, better on the drag strip, nicer in traffic... So I got rid of manuals, just like I did my rotary phone, fax machine, dial up modem and all my other outdated tech...
As silly as it might be, the sound of a vehicle is such a huge part of the enthusiast experience. That is the biggest thing keeping me from getting excited about electric
Not silly at all, it's half of the appeal of performance cars especially V8 muscle cars. Take away the sound and you lose half the fun of driving a fast car.
@@brianspangler3771 Take away the sound and you're gonna hit a lot more deer...
@@robertallen6710thats a lie. I almost hit two deer on my motorcycle and its straight piped 😂
@@MJT-DA You were going too fast....deers normally flee from loud vehicles.
@@sugerhitman1295 "Where there are no posted speed limits, the maximum speed is 50 km / h in cities, towns and villages, and 80 km / h elsewhere." This is a quote from ontarios government website. I wasn't going faster than 80km/h about 75 in the country areas
By far my favorite review channel. Usually with POV vids I don’t like the driver talking, but your commentary always provides great insight to the car and it’s strengths/weaknesses/quirks. Great vid!
I feel the same. He's not just rambling on about nonsense like a vlogger would. Topher gives us insight as to how the vehicle drives, how it makes you feel and his opinion on things. And he makes it clear on what is his opinion, not like how some people act like their opinion is fact and written in stone or something.
Right, actual insight on how it handles out on the road and has a genuine opinion on the vehicle.
I think it’s also the way he talks. A lot of pov vloggers are loud af as well as say dumb things
I like this guy POV, MilesPerHr just sounds annoying when he talks
Not long after watching this a red Mach 1 showed up near my house and bought it. Couldn’t be happier with how its setup from the factory
The Mach 1 is definitely the ultimate Mustang below the GTxxx models! Good handling, great sounding V8, good Tremec manual transmission, lots of good things about this car!
Topher did a great job capturing this great Mustang!
Never owned a mach 1 but the Boss is a more impressive car over a gt350. Flat plane crank has next to zero long term ownership potential and value. Unless your a real track junkie. And it's only fractional more fun around a track, you can get alot of tires and maintence for the difference. I will say the gt350r tranny and carbon fiber wheels are a great combo.
@@ElfCrotchPuncher @A C you guys are both clueless, gt350 is way more inpressive than the mach1, its just a rebadge pp2 that they sale 2x what its worth
@GODWilhelm lol I've owned both. Never owned a mach 1 but test drove 1 once. Its cool. But the Boss is thee mustang to own long term, its simply incredible to drive. You might be letting your admiration for something you've never experienced get the better of you.
@@ElfCrotchPuncher Might be a dumb question, but I don’t understand what it even means for a flatplane crank to have “zero long term ownership potential and value?”
@Hectic Hive there is a major class action lawsuit from the owners against ford currently covering the "track- ready issues" and cars going into limp mode as soon as they start. But there's also the inherent design flaws issue that have been covered by other engine experts in videos on yt. The cross plane crank ends up contributing to a noticeable vibration that gets worse and worse. And that's even before we start talking extraordinary oil consumption with even moderate driving habits. There's other small minor issues that can arise but most just comes with from use and age. It's a beauty car that they sold a ton of. More than the Boss, mach 1 and bullitt.
I have a 2021 Mach1 w/ 6MT and handling pack. This car by far has been the most fun to drive and everyone raves about the exhaust sound. The gearbox is easy to use and one of the best feeling. The front splitter is a big pain to deal with daily as it's about 5.5 inches from the ground. I do 5-10 track days per year so maybe base would have been a better choice for daily drivability.
But the looks bro...THE LOOKS!!!
Did you consider a GT350?
@@danielmembrillo6472 No because the failure rate of the voodoo is too high for my liking
@@mechanics718 Yeah, I'm looking at a 2019. Sad you have to buy a warranty with it in case motor grenades but damn that exhaust note is worth it.
@@mechanics718 Single reason I couldn't convince myself to buy one. The RS3 was a much better all-around vehicle for my purposes anyways (and I do like the 5-cylinder more than the voodoo) but with the reliance I have on my car to get places and the miles I drive I couldn't bring myself to purchase a GT350 :/
The fact that this has less hp than last year shows how bad the EPA wants to kill car culture.
EPA?
Just take off the restrictive stuff once you buy the car lol
If your car culture is based on hp you are not a welcome member of car culture
@@guitarstylingssamuelletizi3917 gas cars explode too, but yeah id only have an EV if I had solar panels to charge it
This is nothing. Look at what they did to cars from the 70's to late 80's, they wanted a car holocaust
I have had 2 Mustang S550’s. A 19’ GT PP1 in Shadow Black and a 21’ Mach 1 in FJG(Non Track Pack) Before the 19’ GT I had an 18’ Camaro SS 1LE. All vehicles were the 6 speed. The Camaro def had a tad more punch down low under 3500 RPM than both Stangs and the Camaro was a stiffer ride overall no doubt. The Camaro was a fantastic car but that blind spot is real! I give the advantage to the SS in down low torque, stop light to stop light, and it also hooked up better from a dig as it sat on 285’s in the front and massive 305 sections in the rear. I drive about 40,000 miles a year and put almost 60k on that 18’ Camaro in about 18 months. The SS and both Stangs were all 6 speeds. The advantage goes to both The GT PP1 and the Mach 1 on the Freeway, both for top speed as that delicious Coyote breathes so freely and screams up to 7400 redline, and as a GT cruiser. I have not driven the Track Pack Mach 1 but that sits on Cup 2’s and has massive 300+ section rears so I know it’s capable on the track. See Car and Drivers Lightning Laps. It bested the SS by a significant margin…. I also give the advantage to both Mustangs in the sound dept. The SS sounds great. The Mustangs sound glorious. They have such a unique sound that is race inspired and also soothing when cruising at 85 MPH on the 405 here in So Cal. I give advantage to the SS in the resell dept as it seems to hold its value better than the GT, which is more in line price wise with the SS. It really depends what you are looking for tbh. Overall though, if I had to pick just 1 from the 3 I have personally owned. It would be the Mach 1. Faster than the SS , especially in 3rd gear on up, more comfy than the SS for GT duty and looks so damn good. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion though for sure, to each his own. In my experience, the Mach 1 is the clear winner of the bunch
I should add. I also owned an 06 Z06 in Lemans Blue. So I’m not a A Chevy fanboy or a Ford fanboy as I’ve had 2 cars from each brand. Best advice when trying to determine which car is “better” block out all ambient noise from the media machine. Don’t let other reviews that come before you experience influence how a car makes you feel or better yet. What the actual results tell you for performance.
I think that time will only make our hearts grow fonder of the Mach 1. It is, seemingly in many ways, the last of it's kind.
Many people see it as being just another parts bin special, and they're not entirely wrong. I see it as being the best of what Ford has to offer as far as their more traditional Mustang offerings go. The GT350, while traditional in name and concept, practiced some new things for Ford.
The Mach 1 is purely traditional. Purely nostalgia. As much as it possibly can be with laws and regulations.
And while I'm not always a fan of cars that exist solely for the purpose of making one yearn for yesteryear, when it's done well I absolutely adore it.
The Mach 1 nailed it.
Brilliant.
@A C They're all really great cars in their own right. I just happen to think that the Mach 1 is a really great example of a modern classic done very well.
@@Loudest_Cricket_ I was nervous that I was not going to like mine, but after 7 months of waiting I got in the car and I could not be happier.
Great timing! I just posted my SS 1LE vs Mach 1 video. It's safe to say that muscle cars have come a LONG way since the early 2000's.
I like how this is still a drivers cockpit. Not some ai friendly high tech gadget.
Exactly, Ill be looking for one of these, not the new 2024. Things got a wide screen tablet glued to the dash.
@@MacKenzie001when you get it, remember me bro. I’ll be living vicariously through you 😅
One of the things that usually annoys me with higher hp cars is that they make the gearing too long to be able to have fun on public roads, but this doesn't look too bad at all. Looks like a great all around package, too.
kinda has to be. if the gears are too short, the tires will just spin. long gears help create traction at lower speeds
@@792bnz I understand why I'm just saying that's why I find they can be a bit less fun on the road.
@@layne4376 interesting, just based on the video it looked like 2nd topped out at about 70ish? Not too bad for a v8 on the street, at least I thought
Preach. I hear you on that. You can get around fine with just the first 2 gears.
When I drove a 6 speed GT it definitely felt like the gearing was too long to properly enjoy on backroads but it opened up on the highway very nicely. I had never driven a RWD manual V8 before so I was pleasantly surprised coming from cars like the GTI and Golf R. Totally different formula for the same amount of fun.
doesnt matter how advanced auto's are, manual is unmatched in a performance car.
the man+machine feel it gives is just a joy even driving to the shops
Very much enjoy watching the car reviewing Master at work. I look forward to every review.
Great video - Mach1 sounds amazing ang has a great manual. I also prefer the traditional interior vs the one on the S650 with ipad screens
Such a well balanced car. you basically have everything. speed, handling, brakes, looks, fun, sound and ein bischen rarität
It's too bad even in the new 2024 mustang GT, Ford refuses to let people have the Tremec 6 speed. So, I'm still leaning towards a 2SS 1LE 2016-2018 model. A lot of bang for your buck.
The 2SS was first introduced with the 1LE package in 2018, so if you want a pre-face “lift” 2SS, 2018 is the only year you should be looking at.
(I do agree that sticking with the MT-82 for the new gen is an absolute absurd choice)
I am just beginning my Mach 1 journey....cannot wait to see how much fun this is on the road and in the N GA mountains (NC and TN Appalachians as well). Ya Hoo.
Good review. The other day my 2021 Mach 1 w/h pack gave me a different perspective of the capabilities of this car. It is fun and goes really fast. It stops even better. Someone pulled out in front of me and by all rights would have/should have been t-boned. With the rubber on the road and brakes on the Mach1 it was very close, but didn't happen.
let’s goooo topher! mach 1 w/ handling pack bringing the videos that matter!
Great video to start my morning, can’t wait to drive my mustang now
Man in your earlier videos, you used to do a ton of sliding out of corners. That was fun to watch I miss that.
Still consistent with the quality of the videos though 👌
Great review! I recently got my hands on one too! For a daily, I like it more than the GT350. I hated the tramlining. I feel that this isn't a good value when loaded out, compared to the GT350. They both maxed out around 65k. I agree, I think it sounds the best as well. For me though, A loaded 2SS 1LE would be in my garage. But if money is no issues, Mach 1. And if you love your mechanic, GT350
I agree with the 1LE. Every bit as good as the track pack Mach 1 and much less expensive.
You knocked this review out the park my friend.
🤘🏼
Makes me want to get a GT before the new ones come out. I imagine the base GT starting price is going to be pretty high
Should be the same as the s550. $37k starting if you order through the ford website
an incredible car, the dream of being able to drive it
@RBT THUNDER Moneh
Alpha chassis married to the 1LE calibration is the way to go. 'Manual' ZL1/1LE or SS/1LE for my money!
These have come a long way since my 14 GT
You have become my fav car reviewer
I own a 2019 Bullitt, and the only thing I really like more in the Mach 1 is the transmission. I really wish the Bullitt had the tremec.
You can put a tremic in !
@@marktarascio4766 True. I wonder how much that swap would cost. (I am resourceful enough to figure out how to do the swap myself, but I would probably set the car out of frustration.)
I really wanted a Bullitt but the timing of me buying one was just off, but it worked out cause I got a 2022 Mach 1 Premium with Handling and Elite package, TREMEC of course
The MT82 gets a lot of negative criticism. I had a 2016 GT PP1 and the MT82 was horrible. They upgraded the MT82 in 2018 and I now have a 2019 Bullitt and the MT82 is much improved. Still like many others I wished it came with the Tremec.
I'd love to have this car, but can't afford it, but I must say I have a 14 Festa ST on a Cobb stage two Tune, short shift kit, 3 inch MBPR exhaust and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport tires, I'm on my 6th set of tires in 9 years 103,000 miles, at 74 years young I love driving on three wheels, so I'd say it's as fun as the Mustang, drive one and you'll see. The Fiesta Flash.
That 1-2-3 around 13:30 had some nice between gear sounds.
this car, the ss 1le, and ct4v blackwing are my absolute favorite cars right now, all with beautiful tremecs and magride and just absolute budget enthusiast dreams compared to the competition, and still coming new with warranties! wont last much longer
I reset my A10 transmission, its "learning" created an awful 2-1 shunt. Its far better now as its learned my preferred driving.
The sound is perfect and I love the race red.
When TheTopher says it's good, I know I made the right decision.
Sounds fantastic, listened to this with high-end earbuds. Nice demo of this beauty of a Mustang!
High end earbuds? Don't exist. Cord high impedance or you've wasted your money. Facts
Dayum mustangs are definitely one of the best looking muscle cars
They get pretty good gas mileage too. I got 29 mpg in my 2018 6MT PP1 GT on the way back from Vegas to Phoenix.
You can fix the clutch feel by removing the assist spring. Steeda makes a replacement spring.
No sally-boy fruitcake music in the background, or meaningless banter.
Just concise play-by-play narration, & that screaming behemoth of a V8. Great video!
Now I just want to go out and drive my 2018 GT, and the roads are slick, so I guess I'mma just go sit in it. Thanks.
The best review channel so far, I can feel the vibe of a man admiring what he is doing 😄
I’m 16 and was fortunate enough to drive one for a day that had long tube header, Cora’s exhaust, and a hot tune. All I have to say is I’m glad I only had a day with it because I would of gotten into a lot of trouble with that car 😂
It just occurred to me that Topher must be walking sideways to perfectly capture those 360 walkarounds.
lol I think u right
That 3rd to 4th shift at 10:35 is 🤌🏼
Me getting onto the highway every single morning commute in my manual Mustang or GTI (depending on mood) 🔥
Make me want to be a high planes drifter, crisscrossing across the country, playing tunes on that exhaust!
👍Topher
right from second 0 you can see the donuts on the ground, you know this video is gonna be awesome
this guy’s driving is INSANE im subscribing @11:30 😳😳😳😳
Topher is an AWESOME driver, but he did say he had auto revmatch "on" lol
Non-hp non-Recaro with the tremec is the way to go, IMO. Everything else should be added, though.
Heated/cooled comfy seats, B&O Sound System, cool gauge on the dash. Then, you go buy the adjustable strut bits & the rear wing w/gurney flap for ~1k and you're golden.
Yes!!! Been waiting for another mustang pov vid 😊 awesome vid Topher!!! 🤙🔥❤️
The manual makes this thing more fun and better than any damn sports car out there.
I prefer the interior of this over the new one. Much more character.
That was amazing thanks for taking the time
Interior looks more refined than the dark horse.
It definitely is… I got a 22 6 speed elite package. Looked at the Darkhorse the same day and by far I believe the Mach 1 has a much better interior and functionality
@@alabamanano4984 I own a Darkhorse. The touch screen is slow and glitchy.
Love the mach 1 but I wish ford would have put a shaker hood on it!!
I have a ‘22 Mach 1 Premium with Elite & Handling Package, rear seat delete, cyber orange & TREMEC of course
How much must those tires cost to replace though 😅
Looked it up: $545 per tire
Oof
Might be the first person I've heard say they aren't a fan of the 10 speed. Surprising
Imagine driving and then u see this crawling right beside u, Honestly I’ll just scream in excitement 😂😂
That is a beautiful car especially in Race Red
I'm more of a Camaro guy but I think the Mach 1 is the sweet spot for the Mustang, you get NA power (even if you have rev it high to get anything out of it) and mainly the Tremec 6 spd, it's an awesome choice and one reason I love my Camaro so much.
Bro good choice of color and design ❤
Great review. Looks and sounds great!! I miss driving manual trans cars.
12:38 those are major complaints. Manual gas powered cars are for enthusiast. Those complaints are a deal breaker for me when I test drive a car.
I recently purchased an IS500.
I freaking love that V8, but I really miss the manual.
I have been looking at Mach 1 because of it.
Am I F***ing crazy?
I am not a Mustang guy, but this Mach 1 has me considering it very seriously.
For those that have it, how is their quality and reliability? With a Lexus, I know what I am getting there with the reliability.
I don't personally own a mustang, but I have many friends who do. They've convinced me to get one of these asap.
The gen3 coyote is incredibly reliable, and this beast has a host of cooling & support upgrades from the factory that should only help with that.
All I would suggest is staying on TOP of your maintenance. Religiously.
I really don't like mustangs but this one looks so nice!
I never really looked at these but they are really nice looking. And they sound great
17:30 Thanks for doing that. I had heard you can no lift shift but haven’t seen it until now.
Driven both 2016 gt and 2021 gt imo the 2016 is just a way more rawer experience the clutch is way stiffer you actually feel the gears go in the new manuals feel soft and light
Man ford has made mustang amazing still.
This car is top on my just-for-fun wish list. Beautiful.
This car will never in its entire life as long as I own it ever see normal exhaust mode. Never. Track exhaust period ALWAYS . The best sounding V8 (to me) ever made man.
I can confirm. The only time I am in quiet mode is if there is a cop near by, otherwise it's track mode all day.
WOW the price....shit I bought my 69 Red with striping Beauty Rim wheels black interior Mach I right off the lot for $3250 ..yes it was a 351 Winsor Oh but the goodies I put on it never even came close to $60000
Not really a fan of the new body style yet. Might wait for one to be imported to my area before I like them. I'm happy with my 13 gt fastback, don't plan on upgrading anytime soon
Music to my ears! 🎵
Sport sound is amazing
Very true on the steering. Coming out of E92 M3s and some 911s with excellent steering feedback, particularly with the Porsche. I have a 2020 Ford Mustang GT with the Ford Performance Track kit installed and the car is amazing as far as handling. Its just the lack of tactile feel, not that there isn't none, its just lacking especially for a car of this caliber. Then again though newer BMWs since the FX cars have the same complaint.
Every video I think the same thing: Too bad he has to test the cars on those third world roads.
Well coming from a proud third worlder i would like to tell you that those roads are not even remotely close to what real thirld world roads look like.
these are american third world roads. go anywhere in mexico that isn’t a tourist city and you’ll see some serious third world roads
@@auggith yeah bro americans think they live in a shit country. crazy world...

Yes. I keep wondering how many subscribers does topher have to get to to be able to afford to move to a place with half way interesting roads to drive on. It holds the channel back a bit.
Would you buy this in the 60k range or something different (including used)?
Not doubt going for manual.
This and the camaro 2SS (especially with the ZL1 package) are absoloute bargains! Yeah, interior may not be as nice as its German counterparts but c'mon. A v8, great manual transmissions, great handling and intoxicating sound. Used to hate on them, but after seeing reviews I'm sold. Id for sure buy one, and I'm usually the guy to only own German vehicles.
Great review, earned a sub!
I almost got the 22 Mach1, but the dealer only had it in a manual, which I could live with, but the Recaro seats it came with were a torture device from the Spanish Inquisition if you are 6'4" and 240lbs. Horribly uncomfortable as a daily driver. The manual I could live with, but I hate manuals, they suck in traffic and are slower than the 10 speed auto anyway... But the seats were the deal breaker... so I went for the 2022 GT Performance Pack and saved 10 grand, and the money I saved will go into upgrades over time.
Those Recaros will grow on you. I have a 2019 Bullitt with the Recaros and they just take getting used to. The only drawback with Recaros is no heated/cooled and they are manual adjustment.
@@HitsTownUSA I am 6'4" and 245lbs... It was pinching and compressing my rib cage. I hated them. I could deal with it for half an hour at a time at a track day, but as a daily driver I couldn't do it. I recently had to drive from Atlanta to New Orleans and back... No way I could have done it in those Recaro seats... haha
@A C Why not? I can drive the car over to Vengeance Racing and have them do whatever I want to it... Supercharge it and tune it, suspension, etc... I liked the Mach1, but those seats were just horrible, and it didn't make sense to pay the extra money for the M1, only to have to pay to tear out the seats and find stock seats to put in there...
Most people don't drive their vehicles to the limit anyway... Half the Mustangs out there are grocery getters, or used for flying through a crowd sideways leaving Caffeine and Octane...
Got rid of my ‘18 GT pp1 w/ MT. I just couldn’t enjoy the car with the notchy trans. looking at a mach1 possibly. I’ll have to sit in a dark horse to see if I can stand the large digital displays but those might be far off from being attainable anyway. really want this car.
Manuals are a must for cars like this. Love the design especially those wheels. Nice look inside with the signature pool ball shift knob. Not a fan of the red however.
if someone could clear this up for me would be greatly appreciated: this motor doesnt have any forced induction correct? yet i see in the right center gauge, it displays vacuum and boost. am i missing something?
You are correct that the Coyote 5.0s come stock “naturally aspirated”. Those two circular center gauges are a feature that come with the S550 models with higher trim levels, the option is known as “Performance Pack”. On Coyote 5.0 models, the gauges display Oil Pressure and Vacuum. On Ecoboost models, the gauges display Boost and Vacuum.

How comfortable are those seats? I had recaro's in my EVO and did not find them good for me.
The video is so clear, what camera are you using?
What do you prefer more, the Mach 1 or the Cadillac CT4v Blackwing?
Can't wait for the new 2024
in just in USA there're 2 lips?
Sounds amazing. Is all the sound naturally from the engine? No piped in sounds through the speakers?
I believe the V8 Mustangs do not have any fake engine sound through speakers.
It’s all natural, no speakers used. It does have a sound tube directed to the cabin, which in my opinion is also natural sound
I was wondering, why does one need to rev match? Is it to decrease rev hang while shifting the lower gears?
“Feels great in the hand, kind of the ideal size” ok topher don’t get ahead of your self😅
Supra Manual or this?
have you ever been pulled over when your filming?
I sold my 2019 Bullitt last year and I do miss that sound and shifting it manually.
Yo, how much did that car cost with the packages?
Debating between getting a new Mach 1 or wait for the new Dark Horse. I think if I get a Mach 1 I'm going to go with the Grabber Blue
The meanest Mustang ever
