I like this guy. Well spoken, appears modest, I think he’d make a great addition to the channel if he were interested
Too bad he has a day job!
Was going to comment the same thing!
@@TheTopher I could be convinced...
Funky watch too. He's basically there!
Completely agree
The SS 1LE is seriously one of the top bang-for-your buck performance cars on sale.
Easily. The chassis on these is amazing.
@@augustortiz I have a 19 2ss 1le, its amazing on the road with the correct tire.
Just wish I could see out of the damn thing
@@davidr6865 lol so accurate.
@@davidr6865 The rear view camera really helps with that issue. One of the best parts of the 2SS over the 1SS imo.
I really like the way the owner described his car. He sounded like an actual reviewer, instead of just going "Thing's great, 10/10". With that being said, though, I feel like a lot of usual Topher review items are missing from these POV owner videos.
Yeah he sounded like a chevy salesman trying to sell the car to Topher
@@maximus9401 I'm sold! lol
This guy knows his car. Obviously that's not a requirement to own and enjoy one, but it was great listening to him speak. I'd love to see more ownership POV's, it's great to hear the perspective of owners and very relatable!
The one aspect I like about the Camaro is that it seemed to prioritize driving dynamics over the Mustang and especially the Challenger, hopefully the new S650 takes that torch and runs with it since it’s literally in a league of its own now
s650 is just a body kit on the S550 so don't hold your breath.
The S650 is a pale imitation of the S550. Comparing the 6G Camaro is offensive.
@@eurly93it’s probably a Ford’s employee YT account.
@@eurly93Considering that Ford said they revised the steering rack to be quicker (and hopefully more feelsome) and did some other tunes to the chassis on the S650 and whatnot, I wouldn’t just call it a “mere body kit”. At least that’s what I hope and believe, hearing that more was done under the skin.
@@ClickbaitMotorsportsWell, I’d be the one to say that for the S550, it was quite a hard benchmark to follow up with and outdo it, at least styling wise.
It’s a damn shame they are discontinuing this car. The SS 1LE will be a classic.
They haven't updated a single thing in 7 years and made it look worse. I sold mine since the 8 speed trans is trash
@@BartlettRacing66only the front and rear end along with the infotainment n the 10 speed. But the bones are pretty much the same
I'm really considering buying one.. what would that do to the cost of maintenance later on. I assume raise it or do they stock enough parts for cars after they've been discontinued for it to not matter too much?
Nevermind. After sitting in one, I'm no longer considering it. The visibility is unbelievably bad.. the rear right blind spot is *SO* bad, I wouldn't even safely be able to change lanes in it. Unfortunate because I had my heart set on one.. they're great cars for the money.
@@hhaste Had absolutely no problem with visibility, especially if you get blind spot monitoring
Mike's point at the end about buying a $50k hot hatch with a possible $5k to $10k markup vs buying a $50k V8 manual RWD sports car is spot-on and the reason why I bought the exact same spec Camaro as him.
You can't find a better performance bargain.
Depends on what you need a camaro would never work for what I need but a type s would
Lol Camaro? Father bought me an Aston Martin LOL!
@@defyyourlogic487camaro would be faster 🤷♂️

The magic of the Alpha chassis...say no more. Enthusiasts engineered the 1LE!
After owning so many cars like E60 M5, s2000, G35, BMW GT 335iM to name a few this is the best car I have ever owned.
Got an insane deal on a 2017 SS 1LE in February with 23k miles from an older gentleman. Couldn't be happier its such a fun car to drive, handles like its on rails and sounds amazing. Certainly gets a lot of looks and compliments, in person it looks wayyyy more agressive than a normal Camaro.
How do you deal with that visibility? I had my mind set on one, until I sat in a ZL1 today. They're impossible to see out of.. The rear right blind spot is so bad, I wouldn't be able to safely change lanes in it..
@@hhaste it’s really not that bad if you give it some time, in my opinion most of the people who think that have never really driven one or they didn’t adjust everything properly. If you take the time to get the seat and mirrors right it’s pretty manageable. Rear right is probably the biggest I would agree but with my mirrors I’ve never had trouble ensuring the lane is clear just requires more head moving to be sure than other cars lol. When I bought mine it was the first time I’d ever been in one and after the 1hr 1/2 drive home I was already pretty comfortable with the visibility, I actually quite enjoy how narrow the front window is, feels like your in a cockpit lol.
@@HyperBlueMetallic1LE where’d you find it
I've owned a 5th gen and 2 6th gens. You're really over exaggerating the visibilty. I've never stressed making a lane change. I think it actually makes you a more attentive driver. You tend to be more aware of your surroundings. Honestly, the only time visibilty is an issue for me is in parking lots. Curbs and parking stones can sometimes be hard to see. @@hhaste
The 2SS 1LE is the one for me. It does so many things well. It’d rather have this than the ZL1. Getting into competition mode is a huge pain. I blame the cheap buttons
haha it is always a little bit of luck getting into competition mode...agreed man - this is the ticket!
No reason, to go to comp mode, I just hold the button and turn off traction and esc/stability control both.. The car has so much grip, you really need to try to break the rear loose.. I have owned 6 mustangs, but after test driving a 1LE, there was no way I was buying an s550.. I love it..
Well I think this video pushed me over the edge. I gotta go order one
Better hurry. 2024 orders are open and it's the last year/
Good luck! Limited production run.
This ss 1le is the reason why I got my uncle to buy it. Best value track car straight form the factory. Only bad thing is visibility otherwise it's an amazing car.
And that’s a manageable trade if you ask me.
After sitting in one today, I completely agree. The visibility is *SO* bad, I'm actually no longer considering one. unfortunate because it's such a good car for the money.. but it's impossible to see out of. I wouldn't be able to safely drive it on the road.. you can't change lanes without potentially slamming in to someone in the right lane, it's that bad.
@@hhasteBeen driving one for 2 years near daily and never had an issue. You'd think if it was so dangerous the insurance cost would reflect that, but it's cheaper to insure than the beater 2005 base Impreza I had before it.
@@hhasteEven with the rear camera mirror and outside mirrors with blindspot warning??🤔
Just got my 23’ 2SS over 1500 mi (built it from the factory) and it sounds amazing above 4K RPMs. The interior lighting, ventilated seats, HUD, and camera mirror make it worth the small windshield. I’m so used to it that I feel like I’m in a greenhouse now when I drive my 99’ 4Runner.
i have a 23 2ss also, right at 1700 miles, took delivery in december 22' but holy shit the windshield is SO small lol. kinda wish it was a little faster tbh.
Dang lol I got my 23’ 1 ss in April with 8 miles off the lot now it has 5,679 miles in july. By the looks of it I’m driving it more than most people lol
@@anthonysuchil604 you definitely are, but mine isn't my daily driver. I have another vehicle. Mostly just drive my ss on the weekends and some evenings for a cruise or something
Secretly hating yourself for buying a brz when this thing exist.
The 1LE is easily the best bang for the buck performance car out there, no question. Even the non 1LE standard SS model is a very good driving car that handles like it's on rails, both share the Tremec 6spd which is phenominal.
This is the best car GM makes. I've driven the C8, this is so much more enjoyable.
Just bought a 19 SS 1LE and love it so far. Been on the fence about driving it in the winter but this video convinced me to do it as long as i get proper snow tires.
I had an 19 1SS 1LE, amazing car. Nearly everything is perfect. Visibility sucks, you get used to it, but it makes commuting tricky sometimes and it can spoil driving on tight roads. You just have to guess where the car edges are. It’s a pretty wide car and the wheels poke out so it’s easy to curb them in weird angle drive thrus and what not.
Electronic parking brake was annoying. It works but there’s a delay for it to set. Manual handbrake would be so much nicer.
Otherwise, about the best car I’ve driven. Chassis is incredible, brakes are insanely powerful, seats are so comfortable and supportive, they don’t recline much on the 1SS either. Shifter is the best I’ve used. Such good feel and it just feels durable and like you can abuse it, flatfoot shifting is so addicting. Steering is great, the heaviest weight is too heavy, but the individual drive mode settings solve that. It rides great for what it is….sounds great….GM really nailed it overall.
I got rid of the 1LE because I couldn’t stop hauling ass in it. It’s so fast for the street and the limits are super high. 100mph is nothing in it. Power is just so tempting and after a while the thrill of speed is gone
I have a 2020 recaro/bbs package Miata now. The Miata is more fun at reasonable speeds and just puttering around. You can take it to the edge without doing 120mph lol
I still miss the Camaro a lot…the exhaust note was intoxicating and it was such a great drivers car….but the Miata keeps me out of handcuffs lol
This made me laugh I feel u brother I’m always ripping it in my 1le
@@donaldjames4340 ha ha yeah it’s impossible not to when a car sounds and feels that good. 😂
I definitely miss it sometimes. Nothing is like a V8. So comfortable to cruise around in, the recaros in the 1LE are fantastic. Best seats I’ve had by far
Recaros in the Miata are eh, bit too snug in the thighs and I’m slim. Hot too, don’t breathe well. Better than the regular seats though. Running costs are a hell of a lot more tolerable. Less than 5qts of oil, tiny tires, 33mpg mixed driving easily.
And it’s nice to be able to row gears with the top down and not worry about protecting the chocolate starfish in county 😂😂
I also have a 1le and I Love It! The only modification I did was upgraded sway bars and strut tower brace
I can vouch for the snow driving. I live in alaska and my camaro handled better than most vehicles. I had a new set of studded winter tires and the car drives very well. Super fun in the snow as well. In deeper snow you have to take it very easy but itll plow right through. Dont let snow detour you from owning one
Where did you get your wheels and what winter tires? I’m trying to get prepared for this winter season on mine.
@@eliesercarrero4523 i got my tires from a local tire shop "alaska tire and rim" They were 20" 245. $2500 brand new but it was worth it. They were the nokian hakkapeliitta 9's
@@eliesercarrero4523 i didnt need to use any weight in the back either
I always wondered for the snow drivers, do you have to change tires from summer to winter and back?
@@angelgregio yeah its pretty annoying but its only like 70 bucks. Awd u can get away with all seasons but u will slide on ice since theres no studs
How anyone would consider a Subaru BRZ or Honda Civic Type R over a Chevrolet Camaro SS 1LE is beyond me. To each their own, I guess. I'm absolutely in love with my 2023 1SS 1LE in a 6 speed manual. Best decision I ever made buying that car. Arguably the greatest performance value ever under $50k!
Because the BRZ is 30k. You get what you pay for
I have 30k, i dont have 50k. Your first question is really easy to answer, and I did not even consider a 1LE when I bought my BRZ.
Those are two cars I'm considering. Type r and ss1le. Love the ss1le, but also have family and type r would be perfect for taking family out.
@@retrograde11 SS 1LE is quite a bit more expensive and doesn’t have 4 doors. Get a type R. Or an Elantra N.
@@bryanribey 👍
i’ve been waiting for this video for years and here it is 😩
I can get 27-28mph cruising at 65mph. I love my 2SS. One thing I did to dress up the interior was add carbon fiber trim pieces. Now, it looks great.
Also, visibility isn't bad after a week or so of driving it. If you have the rear camera mirror, it basically eliminates the rear blind spots anyway. I love mine- 1500 miles in.
Congrats! Did you wait the full 1500 miles before revving over 4000 RPM/80 MPH. That's the hardest part 😎
@@cardo1111 I'm going to change the oil in the next few days before revving it out. Yup, I was a good boy and didn't push it.
I’m not convinced that babying these is the way to break them in. Heat cycling is the name of the game. I would never say to thrash it to the redline every shift brand new from dealer, but just drive it. If rpms go to 5k for a moment, so be it.
@@donrichter3523 too late now. I'm no engineer, so I just follow the manual.
You can cruise at 1800 to 2000 rpm in 6th (80 to 85 mph)and get almost 28 mpg. Drove from my home to south ga and back (400 mi) on a single tank.
Mike seems like a good guy, love his commentary and his pacing of the comments that he makes!
This car is so awesome. I’ve been “forced” to daily mine lately because my usual daily is in the shop. I get done with work around 6-7 and haven’t been getting home until 10 pm because I’m out having so much fun with the car.
Thanks @TheTopher for coming to check out the car, we'll do a garage walk around and hang out again soon!
When is the first track day? Make sure to film! You'll be blown away by the limits on track.

Insane Camaro !! ❤❤
I personally own a 2SS and hearing this guy talk about his makes me smile knowing how well he described it! I’m in love with my 2SS and it is a great daily driver!
Can you adjust the steering, exhaust and transmission in each driving mode in the 2SS or is that only a feature of the 1LE package?

thanks for the vid. looked like a fun cruise!
I’m so happy with mine I can’t explain it’s just such a great car to drive and live with
thankns for this vid !!! camaro was off my radar, but it may have jumped to the top of the list, this checks many if not all boxes, going to miss it once its all gone
I have a 2022 2SS 1LE, with a manual, and love it. It's just a weekend car for me, but I recently drove it out to Utah (from my home in Pennsylvania), and it was super comfortable. And once I got out to the nice roads in Colorado and Utah, it handled the twisty mountain roads with aplomb. And like the owner here, I get compliments on it all the time. Really a shame that GM is killing off the platform, and isn't going ahead with another generation.
Don't have a 1LE but do have an '22 LT1 6 speed and it's hella fun to drive. I'm sure the 1LE just takes it to another level.
Have a 23 1ss riverside blue, npp, recaros, red calipers, mag ride and pf course 6 speed, had it almost a month, just over 200 miles now and freaking love the car.
My 2018 night fall grey ss 1le was an amazing back roads car it handled like it was on rails and the muffler delete gave it the perfect sound daily drove it for 2.5 years what a blast
Shiiiii can never go wrong with a Camaro 🇺🇲🍻😎
I have some run flat Goodyear tires on my 2020 Camaro. Works like a charm I lost all tire pressure down to zero on my passenger front tire due to a nail and was abt 40 mins from home and I drove all the way at abt 35mph and next morning got it patched. HIGHLY RECOMMEND all Camaro owners to invest in some run flats to avoid being stranded with a flat. GREAT VIDEO!!
I have a 2017 2SS Fifty package and you are so right about the touch screen. I always rest my fingers on the top of the screen so I can accurately use my thumb to hit buttons.
These are sooooo much fun!
And its got a oil cooler, trans cooler, and a cooler for the rear axle, which by the way is the Corvettes electronic rear differential.
Absolutely love mine.
What a great sounding car! And you friend did a great job describing his ownership experience. I honestly feel like he could be your brother or cousin or something 😂
its gorgeous
I have a 22 SS 1LE M6 and I bought it knowing these types of cars are not going to be built after 2024 probably. I could not be happier with the purchase, such a fun car to drive!
Love to see another Camaro on the channel!! Love my ZL1, these cars are totally daily-able and drive great when pushing it. Thinking of adding a G80 M3CX to the garage to pair with the Z but worried it’s not going to be nearly as good!!
bro try a blackwing ct4v first, I had a c7 before and this thing is just amazing
Disagree on them being daily drivable.. the rear passenger blind spot is so bad, you can't even safely change lanes without potentially slamming in to a car.
I just wanted to hear the car talk. Maybe you’ll have a just driving video if your host is so gracious. The info he provided was generously excellent. Thanks for that. The car sounds so good. It deserves its own video.
Awesome
Just recently became away of the 2ss 1le package. This has to be one of the best bang for your buck fun cars right now. I’ve never liked Camaros really but I’d consider getting this
I remember when Topher called the SS a momentum car, which is a bit of a stretch lol.
Ive owned a 16' SS and 19' ZLE.
Really no complaints from a performance aspect, as prob the best overall bang for the buck out there. Sounds great too!
My biggest issue was the poor visibility and "claustrophobic" feeling interior that felt like sitting in a bathtub, which grew tiresome and annoying as a daily for me...
Mike is a natural at this, wouldn’t mind seeing him be a regular on the channel 😄 too bad these cars are dying off 😔 itl be a classic someday.
Alpha platform is criminally underatted
Nice video.
This is my favourite colour for this car. So good.
I've had my 2017 2SS for almost 3 years now. I was going to get a Manual but the Automatic 0-60 was quicker and the automatic has paddle shifters so you can still shift it yourself if you want just without a clutch. I love mine so much. The crackling pop of the exhaust when in sport mode still 3 years later puts a huge smile on my face. Mine is also riverside Blue Metalic and I got the big boi ZL1 spoiler splitter, and Side skirts ALL Gloss Black. Canards are the next thing I'm a put on just to make the front even more aggressive not that it Stock (NO MODS) already makes it look so mean and aggressive looking but I just wanna go all in pretty much. It's just only W'S for this current gen Camaro. I'd never trade it in. Best purchase I ever made
Sure.. Keep dreaming of actually owning an SS 1LE.. Obviously you are lying since the first year they even offered an automatic in the 1LE was 2021.. They were all manual until then.. Nice try though.. Have fun driving it in your video games kid..
@@Clutch_Kick187 He never said ILE, only 2SS.
Anyone notice the door color change when it was in track mode pretty cool. Sounds great
2 problems with this car:
1 - you can't drive it slow. I just had court yesterday and almost lost my license.
2 - Stealth mode still pops and bangs and cold start isn't stealthy
That is true, it’s not an easy car to drive at regular speeds!
Isn't that the truth.. I am 43 years old with a 22 SS 1le manual, and boy it makes me drive like a 17yr old dickhead.. lol
Nice to see theTopher driving a car i own.
Yeeaaah, Gen 6 Camaros are my JAM. Sadly just traded in my 10 speed LT1. That bad boy regularly exceeded 30 MPG's on the highway. The highest I hit was a tick under 37. These cars are insanely good, I need to get back into one ASAP.
What did you trade it for?
He should definitely pop up in some more of your vids!!
Hey what's happening now that's awesome z28 with a six speed manual transmission saved the manual transmission and thanks for sharing your videos with me 🖐👍🙂
Thanks for the video very nice car!!
Awesome and that crackle so eargasm

What a great car…pinnacle pony car for sure. V8. 6-speed. MRC. Best chassis in class. Future classic for sure.
I bought a 2019 Mustang GT because I wanted a convertible. The Camaro was not designed from the beginning to be a convertible and it glaringly shows. I sat in a Camaro and it felt like I was in a bathtub mounted in the pilot house of a river barge. Hopefully the EV version of the Camaro has better visibility.
I'm glad you got to drive a newer one! I just got my 2023 1SS 1LE 2 months ago and have been loving it. A TON of car for 49k. You definitely need to film a track day with it and try the no lift shift function, such a blast. Hope everyone who is on the fence about these cars jumps on one while you can still get one! You won't regret it!
How do you deal with that visibility? I had my mind set on one, until I sat in a ZL1 today. They're impossible to see out of.. The rear right blind spot is so bad, I wouldn't be able to safely change lanes in it.. it's so bad, I don't think I'm even considering one, anymore.
I have a manual '21 Corolla XSE hatch manual and the forward collision does auto brake. It is possible in a manual.
@TheTopher: Camaro SS1/2LE or Mustang PP / Mach 1 for mostly street. Reliability being a key factor? I'm trying to pick one as my summer only car for the next 20 years into Retirement (the last of the great V8's), currently driving a stock Focus RS all year round including winters in Ontario Canada....
The Mustang GT's MT82 makes me nervous as well as the direct injection only Camaro V8... such a hard choice!
Side question for best stereo: Bose vs B&O?
The owner really did not miss a spec
I like the owner. Well spoken guy. Dude that is my dream spec haha.
What do you like better the Type R or SS 1LE? How does your winner compare to the 5 Blackwing?
Got my v6 1LE. Don't regret it one bit. Aim to hit 340rwhp once I'm done with her. Wonderful cars!
Excellent information thank you for your friend explanation
I would haver got one of these or another c7 but since I got a kiddo I bought a ct4v-blackwing and man am I impressed with this chassis after having the c7 z51 with mag ride before this, basically a v6 turbo 4 door corvette
If I want all season tires on the same rims, what tires should you get? Like what are options if you live in NYC or somethin?

My 1LE order was built two weeks ago, just waiting for delivery day now, can’t wait.
How long did it take from the time you ordered?
@@Porsche53324 I ordered on April 1st. It got built around June 15, and now I’m just waiting for delivery. I’ve seen some people get theirs faster and some who have been waiting for months. The most important thing is going to a dealership who actually has an allocation for the vehicle.

Are you a fan of the darkened led side marker light and led reverse light upgrade by diode dynamics or you prefer stock
That deep blue is gorgeous
even in the 400's for horsepower, this thing sounds mean as hell. huge freaking props to GM for that
I just sold my C7 for GT PP1 since I was having to drive a LOT more just around town. I so desperately wished I didn't hate the way Camaros looked, because the SS 1LE is in a class of its own as far as driving experience compared to Mustang and Challenger. The SS leans sports car, the mustang rides the line between muscle and sport, and the challenger is full muscle car.
If I didn't just totally hate the exterior styling I would buy one in an instant. They are so damn great to drive. The alpha platform is just great.
Looks way better than the mustang looks better than the stingray too
I love my 2022 SS 1LE. Waited 6 months for mine from order, and the order was almost dropped (color constraint). I ordered a 2022 Mustang GT in case the Camaro never arrived, and both ended up hitting dealer lots within the same week. The Camaro was the east choice for me.
Nice to see a car lounger on youtube…
@@JustCarPeopleThings Just saw this. Great review you did, watched it a few times.
I've got a 2020 2SS 6 speed with LE suspension but not the full LE package. It handles amazing on the track. But the smaller 2SS Brembo brakes did get very hot once and started to fade after a few hard laps in 100 degree weather.
I wish I coulda just got the full LE but in 2020 with rona it was hard enough to get any Camaro at all.
I think those stock Goodyear F1 tires are run flats by the way. So you don't have to worry about a spare. They are very harsh tires to daily but they are incredibly good on the track. Amazing grip and very predictable if they do start to drift.
Any suggestions for brake upgrade would be appreciated. You can get the LE brakes from a Chevy Performance dealership for like $3k or something if I recall correctly but they have to be installed at the dealership... require special tools or something.
Do all the versions have the rear view camera?
I took my the delivery of my 2023 ss a year to date since I ordered it in 2022
I’m really thinking about getting one hehe
I ordered one late march 2023, and it’s being built this week (June 26th)🤷🏻♂️. Lead times could be much worse
Accent Color Change with the shift of mode is killer
Based on your recommendation, as well as Thomas from Throttle House, I ordered one of these. It took a long time to get, but other than making it a little smaller and lighter it's the perfect car for me to play with. So I guess you and Thomas can split the commission.
06:45 What does he mean that the skip shift is a suggestion and not forced? Did GM get rid of the skip-shift finally?
I used to have a 2022 1SS 1LE and it was a great driving car. Only reason I got rid of it was to get my 2022 GT500.
Can you do launch control. I had a 2018 ZL1 6MT. Built by Complete Street Performance to 720 WHP. I could never figure out launch control for the manual.
