1. Wrong Camera Settings 2:12 2. Same focal length for every clip 3:02 3. Not enough Variety 5:42 4. Artist lip synching 7:23 5. Color grading 9:02 Saving this for later for when I get to my camera
See you say "it's better to overshoot than undershoot" and I 100% agree with you. But then another channel I saw on here (big RUclipsr not some small timer) says not to overshoot get what you need and that's it. So it's like..
Most useful were the tips to switch lenses and the advice on varying locations to keep it interesting visually. Shooting a video in a week, so very helpful!
The variety one was pretty key for me, the moment I switched to writing a shot list the day before. It changed my videos for the better. Ill break that 24 fps rule sometimes, depends on the vibe I'm going for.
So my question is the small the mm of the lense the closer you’d be to the target? Besides having the higher mm lense to shoot close up from a distance?
Always love looking back from what was done when I first started to now. You have definitely been a big part of me wanting to get better with what I have done. Thank you for all your great content brother! 🤘👹🤘
Switching up the lens was most helpful for me. I’m about to shoot a music video and I was going to do the entire thing with 35 mm cine I think switching up the look with my 25 mm lens for the close ups we will make it that much cooler. Thank you
That is the Best Free Advice that’s worth it’s price in gold. Guys, I’ve never met y’all, but you fellas know what your talking about, and, have serious talent!!!
always appreciate your videos, just discovered this channel very recently! Im a Lansing Michigan producer , and love making film. I started around 2000 or 2001 or sometime around then, so word up ! props ! And I love seeing you doing well in this business, or all these artistic businesses! #LansingVsEveryone! 😀
Depends on what you want to use them for. If you might want them in the whole song, then film the whole song. If you know you only want a part at the beginning, no sense of filming the entire song.
I don’t agree that a video shot at one focal length (3:00) looks monotonous. You just need to vary the distance, angle and setting. I shot one of my latest works entirely on one 24mm anamorphic lens in two settings and it looks great. Yes, I usually shoot with several different focal lengths and even with several cameras at once, but this does not mean that you cannot shoot a good video with a single lens.
Tip 1 was helpful. For tip 5, i'm still trying to understand how to color grade. I would appreciate it if you do a video on color grading if you haven't done any.
Idk if your the same dude but I was bumping this X-men instrumental remake and I remember heard that crackalac drop and I just got reminded of it from like 12 years ago

Yooo what's good...I enjoyed the whole video but the tip about the lenses was very helpful. Could you do a video on different lens types if you haven't already? 💯
ALL lol 😂 Frfr though I’d say 5...I always stress the color grading because I don’t ever really want to add it in videos but then I overthink it and think if I don’t I’ll look amateur (which I really am) and then I do anyways and not every time am I confident about it but it doesn’t ruin the videos and I still get some good feedback
Good question. Yeah. Obviously a phone is hard to compete with top notch camera equipment BUT when getting started I'd highly recommend using what you have. N everyone has a phone so go ahead. During this quarantine I'm gonna do a tutorial showing how to shoot a music video with a phone. I'll knock it out next week.
SO many damn people insist on 60 fps becuase they just think higher is better. I try to explain to people for video games yes, but for film, tv, music videos etc thats just not how you do it... some people just dont listen tho and their crap looks like its a soap opera lmao
The number one mistake i see is the video does not match the tempo of the song or the mouths don't match the lyrics, instruments don't match the song etc.

How long should your clips be? Should they be the the full length of the verse or should we be trying to get shorter clips?
Depends on what you want to use them for. If you might want them in the whole song, then film the whole song. If you know you only want a part at the beginning, no sense of filming the entire song.
