Tuomas is mesmerizing, his bashfulness when he describes his new album is endearing. He needs no apologies for his music as it is as ALWAYS Exquisite. I rarely feel strongly about music. I love this man so much. His talent is beyond huge. In '07 a friend of mine who lives in Helsinki saw Tuomas in a bar. She downed her beer, gathered her sisu, and approached him for an autograph for me. She said he was super nice about it, thought it was cool that I'm from Texas. That autograph means a lot to me because Tuomas is one of the Mozarts or Beethovens of our generation.

"Rest Calm" is a goooood song. In my opinion, I think it's about always keeping the good memories you have about someone that has moved away or passed away. That's just my opinion. You guys probably have a different one.

I really enjoy the variety of styles in the new album ranging from folkish power metal to epic symphonic parts. Also, the progressive parts followed by the epic poem in the Song of myself add their own touch to the brilliant ensemble.
I have loved Nightwish since their first album hit the United States' shores. And I will be a die-hard Nightwish fan until they no longer define symphonic metal!

I listened to the whole album and boy I have to say it's a MASTERPIECE. It's right there with Oceanborn, if not better. Annette really made a great job this time. Those who hate it simply are deaf or immature teens that listen to crappy bands and can't recognize excellent music. THIS IS ART. NW's best album.
At 4:57 he descirbes "Song of Myself" as a homage to the stylized writing of Walt Whitman. I listened to the song through and did not see the connection. Then rereading the words to Whitman's prose piece by the same name, it became clear how a lot of Tuomas's so called 'epic' pieces do in fact mimic Walt's writing style.
I totally agree with Sindory. Tuomas seems really absorbed in what he does... he is definitely a true artist. One who writes music for himself and not for the industry, the money, the bullshit...
@RolandDeschain1 Actually, if I remember correctly, the band themselves thought the title could be too easily confused with or related to other things called Imaginarium so they decided to change it to distinguish it as it's own piece.
I'll say what I've said on other threads here, I've never, NEVER heard one person in the entire Australian metal community dislike Imaginaerum. The only people you'll ever come across who don't like the album are people who either don't like girls in metal or are purists who believe all metal should be incomprehensible noise to stay as "kvlt" as possible.
I'm looking forward to hear the jazz song because it is completely different from Nightwish. I think all of the album will sound amazing and it will especially make since when the film comes out.
I am really shocked by the ignorance of some people who say Imaginaerum sucks. It's too deep for pigs to comprehend and withstand such a masterpiece. PS: Fan of the band since AFF.
I've already heard new album, it's a lot better than DPP cause there are songs for Anette voice she can finally sing every song. It has magic that every NW album has. I still miss Tarja and the way how she sings every song, like for the moment there is nothing more than song and you are leading by her voice. I wait for the movie, Tuomas please don't let us waiting long.
I suppose it's not a language thing. A poet will always speak in an aesthetic way, even the language he/she speaks little. Cuz speaking is a creation of something :)
@Ygdrasel No need to be condescending... I was just wondering why the song confused you. I happen to disagree. I think it fits in the album perfectly. The difference in style doesn't make it feel disjointed to me.
QUESTION: We have seen lots of Tuomas and plenty of Anette and Marco in all these Imaginaerum information tidbits, which is of course fitting and very awesome. But... what about Jukka and Emppu? My only guess is that they simply aren't in the publicity side of things, which is understandable; Emppu always struck me as a tad camera shy.

However, I then saw footage of tear gas being fired at people in Athens and decided to reconsider. Yeah I too wonder why they aren't part of the publicity. I would think since they've both been with Nightwish longer than Marco, they would be more involved than him.
I used to think that Tuomas reminded me of Johnny Depp (especially Jack Sparrow) based only on his looks, until I saw this video. I am now fully convinced the two are closely related.
@Nemsault I'd also like to add to what TheFouFoutos7 said that there are announcements before the protests so people always know beforehand not to be at certain places at this time. And also it's usually Syntagma square and a few other places where sometimes things get out of hand so you can just avoid them and you'll be fine. I go to uni and work in Athens every day and I never had any problems. So don't worry! :) /And if you need any help when you plan your trip you can send me a msg here!

It's not that it sucks, it's that some just like Dark Passion Play better, which I am of the mindset. PATP is their most epic song ever, The Islander rocks, Meadows of Heaven rocks, Sarara ruled, Bye Bye Beautiful was Marco's best track, and so on. So yeah if people say it sucks, perhaps it "sucks" in comparison to their previous albums only. I can't see this album better than Once, Century Child, or Dark Passion Play
