@@khahto genuine question - are you a machine? 😂 That fill on "on these strange islands" whilst doing 16s on the double kick is something my brain will never understand - how does a human do that? This is all compliments of course. Impeccable work from you all on this album. Thanks and love from Nightwish Army Wales
Not only did she record her vocals six weeks after giving birth, Tuomas said he booked her for 2 weeks to complete the album and she did it in six days! What an extraordinary woman.
She is such a metal lady. And true professional. But if she would of needed full 2 weeks I wouldn't of blamed her. I mean she had a baby come out. Even if she is "Ripped" like an old shirt, still I bet it wasn't easy peasy thing to pull if.
It is a great achievement of Floor for sure! I love the album! Yet I think that it can be heard here and there that Floor was not yet 100%. In that respect it might have been better to make use of those two weeks.
It's really crazy how they have developed over 25 years, their sound has evolved so much from their first album to their latest one and still you can somehow always tell it's Nightwish. Like there is something in the DNA of their music you can always find and that stayed the same during all these years. Also, it's safe to say that the entire army needs to see/hear this one live.
Floor is the best singer I have ever heard. Or rather she developed steadily into that over a pretty long career. I do not hype her as a person. I do not know her personally. But vocally she is the most gifted and skilled I have ever heard. The legendary Wacken performance is over a decade ago. And she keeps and keeps singing the most demanding vocals you could possibly think of. Also you hardly ever hear a voice this healthy. The absolute absence of strain, damage and fatigue in her voice is remarkable. Again and again I am in total awe of this singer. What a privilege to be living alongside her wonderful career.
There's apparently 600 tracks in this song. Tuomas mentioned it in an interview he did - it's crazy! Also how the hell does Floor have such an ability to strike so much emotion in so many people?! Her voice is just so incredible and beautiful and I always somehow get emotional by listening to her sing!
Floor is a world-class empath. She not only feels deeply but she can also project her emotions, her sensorium. Live or not, her ability to transmit transcends any medium. You either have it or you don't. It cannot be faked.
Elizabeth....you not only have the ability to explain music to noobs like me, but so far, after EVERY analysis of a Nightwish song you did, I not only liked the song a lot more but actually understood WHY I like it! Keep it up!
So many things - Floor's voice, Kai's drumming, the orchestral parts, Emppu's guitar, Troy's pipes, Jukka's bass and of course Tuomas' keyboards and his amazing composition. This entire album is a true masterpiece.

Hear, hear! Obviously, Imaginaerum will forever have a special place in my heart (Last Ride of the Day ;)), but the maturity and layeredness of this album makes it a pure delight.
This song is the journey of life, where you steer this ship with crowded sails to diffrent Islands, where each island represent a person you meet along, or a happening in your life, there is good islands and the more obscure islands, at the end with the pipe section, you react the final harbour, where you do not need to visit more islands, here you ancor up, the song could be taken diffrenly as the journey of the band as well, or a 3th option, for me its just this travel through life i get, its honestly a masterpiece of a song, proberly the best one from new album, love it!!
This song is the journey of life. The Perfume of the timeless is the journey through the history. This song reminds me of a mix between The Islander and Storytime.
I’m continually amazed by Floor’s voice how well her pronunciation and annunciation, especially in this song where the challenge is the pace of the music
Yet again I have to thank you for introducing me to Nightwish. I am in my early 60s and I've listened to countless bands and genres over those years, but nothing has ever come close to the total absorption I feel when I put on my headphones and listen to Nightwish. The most moving of all their songs for me is the two part Dead Boys Poem followed by Poet and The Pendulum. We get every version of Floor singing you could imagine in those two songs, as well as a bit of raw 'anger' voice from Marko. A true masterpiece by musicians with more talent than I can find words in the universe to describe.
Much as I love the band as a whole, I love Troy's ability to capture a mood or feeling seemingly without even thinking about it is stunning. The solo at the end of this song is like travelling that last mile home at the end of a long and busy day. Beyond beautiful. Passing thought - a tea time interview with Troy might be interesting........ Elizabeth: Troy, is there anything you can't play? Troy: Erm........polo Lol
Thank you for this lovely reaction! Your reactions are so genuine, comprehensive and honest, keep up the good work! Best regards from Hamburg Germany 🐙!
When mixing & mastering this masterpiece, they finally had over 600 tracks in the program. They had to recode & expand the mixing software especially for Nightwish because till this point it wasn't technically possible to put that much audio tracks together at once. Thuomas' perfection....was worth all the waiting. ;D
I was involved in music in high school, that was so many years ago. If Nightwish were around then I may have gone a whole different direction in my life. On the positive side, Nightwish brings some really awesome music for today's music scene. Thank you Elizabeth for your reaction video's, I learn a lot from them and really do enjoy the music more after your walk through. Cheers.
Not sure how old you are, but Nightwish has been around since the mid nineties. As has Floor. Both have grown immensely in those twenty-five years. Floor is one of the pioneers of symphonic metal, with After Forever.
Love your analysis. Tuomas said he used three orchestras on the album, a full 50 piece one, a small orchestra, and a chamber group, depending on what the song required. Probably not samples. The normal arranger of Tuomas's orchestral compositions, Pip, was ill, another person did it for YesterWynde. It's pronounced wined, from a 400 year old Old English song title, WesterWynde, about the West Wind. The voyage is travel through life, islands are the people you meet.
The orchestras were conducted by Mr James Shearman, he is an English conductor, orchestrator, and composer. He is perhaps best known for his contributions to film scores including those for Gosford Park, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Manchester by the Sea and numerous others. He acted as the arranger and the conductor. The orchestras and choirs/choral recordings were done in legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.
4:49 I believe Kai said that they used no samples on this album at all, everything is recorded either by the band or orchestra. Theres a funny clip of Kai doing all sorts of percussion in one of that documentary clips
When I was in elementary school, we got boxes of crayons with 6-12 colors. That's most singers. A few years on, we got boxes with 64 colors. Floor is a box of 64 colors.
All orchestra sounds are real and completely played and recorded by live orchestra, actually since the album Once. Tuomas definitely knows how to use samples for creating demos but as far as I know none of the orchestral samples end up on the actual recordings. Having that said, there are of course many other synth/keyboard sounds that are sampled or chosen by Tuomas. He also uses Korg Keyboards which have tons of amazing sounds pre built in.
👍As always, such insightfull comments on this piece of art, thank you. This band is unique in their aproach to composition, musicality and mastery of their craft. Great reaction as always, Elizabeth. I have never heard before of how giving birth to a baby affects the abilities of a singer. Thank you very much for your detailed information. Considering this it is really a tour de force for Floor singing like this and my respect for her has even grown (it already has been very big). And she managed the whole recording for the album in six days instead of the estimated two weeks. She not only is one of the best and most versatile singer of todays but also a real fighter. She should be THE role model for (young) women, not all these girlies and pop starlets. By the way, my favourite songs of the new album are "An Ocean of Strange Islands" and "Lanternlight", but the whole album is a masterpiece and should be heard from start to ending. All songs build a whole thing. In "Lanternlight" Floor stands in the center of the song, visually and vocally. I am sure you will love it.
I can't express my self in English, so I'll in portuguese... Eu amo como reage aos vídeos. Com sinceridade, com paixão e, principalmente, com conhecimento.❤👏👏👏👏👏👏 Desejo tudo de melhor para você, sua família e seu trabalho! 🙌
Bravo! Thanks Elizabeth for New Nightwish analysis. You're the best on RUclips. Please do more from Yesterwynde; such a great collection. Also, is Julia Nilon okay? Have not seen anything from her in months. She was the first to introduce me to Nightwish with Ghost Love Score. I still watch her analysis from time to time along with yours, too. Both are Classic reaction videos.
I saw Nightwish with Tarja 2 times when this band was not known, and albums were imported and expensive to get. I'm glad i experienced all 3 singers at the current times of the band. I was on my 3rd import cd, and people were asking me, "What's that?" to eventually become bigger and bigger. And here we are now.🤘
Holy cow Elizabeth, you've outdone yourself with this one! What a fantastic analysis! It's because of you that I discovered Nightwish (and therefore Floor) over a year ago. Changed my life for the better. Thank you for your warmth, kindness, and decency that you always share with us all. You're the best! 😊💙✌🤘
Elizabeth, I love watching your reactions and listening your view on Nightwish's music and the talent in the band. Some of my favorite songs I haven't seen you react yet: Seven days to the wolves, Song of myself and Everdream. As you know, all Nightwish songs are very different, so I'm sure you would have something wonderful to say of all of them! AND, a special request: I would love you to see singer Ilta doing her version of Nightwish song Nemo. She did that as a part of a TV show called Vain Elämää, where different artist made their versions of each others songs. Nemo was performed on Marko Hietala's day. It is THE best version of Nemo I've ever heard. And even though Floor is our Nightwish queen, Ilta could very wll be our princess... ❤
Elizabeth, Elizabeth !!!! Your analysis is always sliding down from the top of Mt. Everest! I am SO happy you had your wish granted; have coffee with Floor 🫶 There has never been, never will be another Nightwish, IMHO. Tuomas is BRILLIANT in every sense of the word! Lyrics, the stories, way beyond typical “my girl left me, my truck broke down and where the #%€>~^** is my damn dog!” Esp considering English is not his native language 🤯 mind blown again! My one wish is for 🫵 dear Elizabeth to duet with Floor and perform with Nightwish! Thank you for sharing your brilliance with us all 🥰❤️🔥 Your complete enjoyment of great music is so contagious and makes my day! In closing 🫶🫵
I have really enjoyed your transition from before Nightwish to metal in general. It reflects my own musical journey from when I 1st heard one of their songs in 2019. I regret that lost time. Floor is a phenomenon, in a band of them. Tuomas is a genius
I think you're the first vocal reactor I've actually heard the word Floorgasm, even though I'm pretty sure all of them have had one. She makes everything sound so easy that some people actually think her voice is underutilized in Nightwish, but the amount of nuance she puts in her delivery is insane. Also those verses are sung so fast and yet she delivers them so good that it can be easy to forget she's doing so in a foreign language
Will you do more reactions of yesterwynde songs? They are so different and yet so amazing ❤ Greatings from germany and btw I love all your reactions to nightwish 😊
Loving this new album so much! From the mellow ballad of Lantern Light to Day of... or Sway and of course Perfume of the Timeless all esquisite executions of Toumas' amazing writing, orchestration and arranging skills. Kittos Nightwish! To the Charismatic Voice, I saw Nightwish at Kitte in June of 2023,on stage was Nightwish,Floor often with her hands on her back ,pain. from near childbirth and performing at the end of Nature to Human Tour she was nothing short of Amazing! You describe these body muscular conditions after childbirth but on stage is Floor Jansen nine month's pregnant yet close your eyes for a moment and you could never tell she was within one week of giving birth! Every song so well performed and when I arrived in Oslo ten days later I was hoping to see Nightwish, praying to see and hear them but half knowing in her condition childbirth was near and I found out at Tons' of Rock 2023 that Nightwish cancelled out and Floor was in the hospital having her baby. This women, who must train continously, sang and danced on stage like she was twenty years old not nine month's pregnant ! So glad I was able to travel to Kitee to see them in their hometown,Toumas'; hometown!
Hello from Phoenix. As a huge Nightwish fan, I am so happy with this new album release. It is epic and amazing from start to finish, with every song having these incredible intricacies and movements. Thank you for this, for the Floor interview, and looking forward to your reactions to each of the songs on this album.
I think at this point I have listened to this album at least the first half of this album probably a hundred times I just play it over and over and over again. Nightwish is getting a lot of lot of views from me on RUclips
I have found that Nightwish songs need to be listened to 3 to 100 times to fully understand them, but Elizabeth videos also need to be watched several times to catch and find the meanings and notes that you missed the first time. However, seeing her face (including her playfully intelligent emotions on it) and listening to Elizabeth's voice (soft and filled with professional thought) is always a pleasure.
Loved your technical analysis on timing consonants and vowels to land on the beat, wow. Plus watched the tea time interview with Floor and her recording of the vocals. The woman is a beast in the best sense. As in Brasil they say you don't exist! 🤘👍❤️ love your channel elizabeth ✌️
"The Antikythera Mechanism", "Sway" and "The Children of 'Ata" are standout songs apart from the singles on the album. Listening to this album the first time through was like catching up with an old friend and hearing them talk about their adventures.
Before i watch...i am SO HAPPY you finally got to speak with each other!!! I cant wait to see. This will be a 1st watch/listen for me as well right now
Loved this analysis! And your explanation when it comes to singing postpartum was quite eye opening, wow. I have to say I personally really love how her voice is mixed in this, especially in the first "sail and seek" section, because to me it feels like her voice is calling from somewhere far away and I hear it across water. Something siren-like about it to me!
The entire new Nightwish creation "Yesterwynde" is an absolute triumph so much so that the first three early release singles, this one included, all great, do not have a place in my top 5 songs from this album. That's how good I think that it is and it just gets better and better with each and every listen. Thank you Elizabeth as always for a beautifully insightful reaction. Thank you also for your wonderful interview with Floor. 🙏😊👍❤️
Uilleann pipes are bagpipes, the most advanced of all bagpipes. It doesn't have a mouthpiece like a lot of others, instead you fill the bag by pumping air out of a bellow under your other arm. So you can sing and play at the same time.
I take the line about “grapes of sour wine to solitude” part you referenced to be about making friends in our lives and having fun with them but then we all age (old grapes make sour wine ) and then we lose them or they lose us to death but we gladly take that pain in loss to enjoy the experience and joys we had together (don’t want to be an island of solitude). Reminds me of Elan “Building a sandcastle by a shore, a house of cards from a worn out deck”. You know the end result but it’s still fun doing it. Also..for any country fans somehow watching this kinda like The Dance by Garth Brooks …could’ve missed the pain but I’d have had to miss the dance.
25:38 Hi Lizzy, for some reason i knew that you would really like this section. 😂 I really want to encourage you to react to every single song of that album. They are really great.
Incredible Reaction ! Thank you 😊you’ve come a long way since Ghost Love Score , as have Nightwish . Can’t wait for your take on the rest of this Album .
When you mentioned the cannon sound, I couldn't help but think of 1812 Overture, so now I'm leaning towards it actually being cannon sound effects too. So so happy to find you did a reaction for this one as I'm obsessed and have been playing it continuously all weekend. The energy of it embeds itself in my bones and it feels like it explodes out on each "sail". Thank you for yet another fantastic analysis and putting words to why it's making my brain so happy.
I highly recommend reacting to Apocalyptica - 'Bittersweet' feat. Lauri Ylönen & Ville Valo The stark contrast between Ville's and Lauri's voices is unbelievable yet they fit so well and sound beautiful together!
Lovely reaction, which I happened to see after your tea time. It provided a great context. About the soaring: at some point in the Sing Meinen Song sessions, one of the participants wished "to be Floor Jansen, if only for one note" ...
The drums are played by me. No taikos etc so if you refer to that drumsection. Just me and my big drumkit. 😀

@@khahto I also thought this when I first heard it: "this sounds like Marko"
Yes my thoughts exactly!
I LOVE your analyses of Nightwish songs! It helps me to appreciate their music so much more!
Com sinceridade, com paixão e, principalmente, com conhecimento.❤👏👏👏👏👏👏
Desejo tudo de melhor para você, sua família e seu trabalho! 🙌
28 years of Nightwish in one song. That's genius❣️
genius
@@utnaturalem4379 thank you for teaching me.
A full reaction/analysis of the whole album would be amazing. I know it's a lot to ask, but it'd be super cool.😊
I can’t wait for lanternlight reaction
I second that.
Yep me too.
I concur!
It will be an epic reaction.
I concur!
Nothing beats the chills you feel hearing a brand new Nightwish album for the first time.
And here we are now.🤘
So, you just wanted to mention the first singer And Not comment on This Current song. Obvious.
Thats a beautiful way to describe what i felt as well. Her voice soars 'hang out on a gloriuos note".
I think 'The Weave' by Nightwish deserves a Charismatic reaction!!!
Absolutely
There are many great songs on this album, but The Weave is my favoritebeating, barely beatig Lanternlight.
Look at the crowd of wings basing her voice, celestial 🥳
This is an epic symphonic prog metal Masterpiece! 😎🤘
Thank your for your Nightwish analyses! They always reflect on the way I am feeling listening to Tuomas’s music . 👏
For quite a few Dutchies, and certainly for Floor, English proficiency is on par with native speakers. English is hardly considered foreign.
Will you do more reactions of yesterwynde songs?
They are so different and yet so amazing ❤
Greatings from germany and btw I love all your reactions to nightwish 😊
Your enthusiasm is such joy to watch. And Floor, there are no words, only unnamed feelings for what she brings to this world. If you know, you know.
Floor, the drums and the pipes, all masterpieces
PLEASE react to Lantern light when you have time. I LOVE all your nightwish reactions🤘
Please react to Nightwish Lanternlight from their new album. It is simply beautiful! Floor singing in her low register is something truly special!
I am listening again and again.
Thank you for this beautiful honest and passioned reaction💗
Floor is the best....and you are the best❤
Loved your technical analysis on timing consonants and vowels to land on the beat, wow. Plus watched the tea time interview with Floor and her recording of the vocals. The woman is a beast in the best sense. As in Brasil they say you don't exist! 🤘👍❤️ love your channel elizabeth ✌️
Floor is one of a kind
Nightwish is a whole new experience
Goose bumps when I first heard Floor. And still do often
"The Antikythera Mechanism", "Sway" and "The Children of 'Ata" are standout songs apart from the singles on the album. Listening to this album the first time through was like catching up with an old friend and hearing them talk about their adventures.
Something Whispered Follow Me is incredible as well
Tuomas' sample library is called London Philharmonic Orchestra...
thank you for being a reaction person .. appreciate that .. 'you have such oceans within'
Before i watch...i am SO HAPPY you finally got to speak with each other!!!
Thank you for this wonderfull analysing.Allways a pleasure to see and hear.
Or drink. That is important too
@@craigbolton5093 It has to be through a straw, you still need both hands to play.
Floor is Inspiring Humain 💙🤘. Thank you, Elisabeth ❤for your passionate analyses🤩🙏Keep exploring🤘
SO EXCITED
Thanks so much Elizabeth, so glad you got to do tea with Floor! Must have been a great experience! I appreciate all your work.
Whenever I hear Troy and his pipes - it somehow brings me joy and sadness at the same time. They're beautiful.
25:38 Hi Lizzy, for some reason i knew that you would really like this section. 😂
I really want to encourage you to react to every single song of that album. They are really great.
Shes on her game always ..a power house shes a godess of metal .
"Sail and seek"... yes, I also wanted more of this. This is truly to die for.
" sail and seek" IS Floor's quote
Just got my copy of the album,. Now your reaction AND an interview with Floor. My cup runneth over!! Thank you.
Another piece to our Nightwish journey through emotions 🔥💜🤘💜🔥
Great album 💞🎧💞
I highly recommend reacting to Apocalyptica - 'Bittersweet' feat. Lauri Ylönen & Ville Valo
The stark contrast between Ville's and Lauri's voices is unbelievable yet they fit so well and sound beautiful together!
Keep on repeating 👍
This is one of the best on the album. And so freaking cool you got to talk to her!
Thoroughly enjoyed your interview/chat with Floor. I hope you did. This is one of many excellent tracks on the album.
Well done Elizabeth. 🌹🌹Looking forward to watching your interview.
I’m SO excited for this one! 🔥
15:35 and 25:37 hit me exactly the same. It felt like listening Nightwish for the first time again, damn!
Lovely reaction, which I happened to see after your tea time. It provided a great context.
About the soaring: at some point in the Sing Meinen Song sessions, one of the participants wished "to be Floor Jansen, if only for one note" ...
