Hybrid Network Troopers, You can't say all the troopers would do is charge the marines. They charge the bugs because the bugs have no long range weapons. If you put human against human than that changes everything. Also, how do you figure the marines are better trained? The marine training is never shown in any of the alien media if I'm not mistaken. If you as me the troopers have better training and unit cohesion.
the mobile infantry would completely lose against the xenomorphs due to how drastically different their enemy is and the tactics they use. Numbers do not win with an enemy that stalks you and is constantly trying to flank you and pick you off one by one with minimal engagements. Plus, the more Troopers they take, the bigger the xenomorphic horde grows. Xenomorphs are smart, cunning, sneaky, agile, and their entire body is designed to be lethal. Arguably, Colonial marines would stand a better chance against the arachnids due to better use of firepower and manpower, plus extensive use of infantry support APCs and close air support, but would likely lose a lot of ground due to the sheer numbers of the arachnids. Nuke them from orbit, its the only way to be sure. Its a very interesting concept for a crossover though.
I think the colonial marines would win since they can just hunker down & wait for the mobile infantry to charge right into a barrage of smart guns & sentry gun fire
The Colonial Marines do have automated full auto rifles. With that said. I think it all depends on the terrain. I would that Mobile Infantry would win in an open field. They have the numbers and they can flank the Colonial Marines. Or, use the nuke. In close corners, such as inside a building, the Colonial Marines would win. The marines would set up a trap and gun down the Mobile Infantry. The nuke would be useless, if the whole infantry is in the building. Also, the Mobile Infantry won't use it. Because, they don't know where the marines are hiding.
Note the battle of klendathu, the MI were poorly experienced led by poorly experienced officers who believed they were facing bugs with any lack of intelligence, so combat manoeuvres weren't needed against a human foe I'm sure it would be very different as thats what their BT trains them to fight
I remember being in Highschool, and me and my friends would ALWAYS have this SAME, EXACT conversation EVERY SINGLE WEEK. Those were the good days. We also talked about "Colonial Marines vs UNSC" and "The Halo Covenant vs Starcraft Protoss", and a whole bunch of other stuff, and it was always the more exciting conversations we'd have. Colonial Marines, in my opinion, are just far more impressive, tactically and technologically speaking; though the Mobile Infantry fleet is absolutely incredible. Colonial Marines: >Body armor is very tough from a 21st century standpoint. There was some incident that I can recall in the manual in which this platoon fighting rebels in trenches ran out of small-arms ammunition, so they developed this habit of throwing grenades at the enemy who were literally only a couple of meters away, then turning around and squatting so that the blast and shrapnel could be deflected by their armor while everything else behind them got blown to smithereens, and that's literally how they won that day; by blowing up enemies from point blank range with live grenades, then turning around and squatting so that their back and lower leg armor could absorb the abuse, and they just inched up the trenches and tunnels like that. >Combined arms is very important, and every unit fulfills a very important role, while also retaining the ability for autonomous movement. Well trained, well prepared, small, but fast and efficient. Also, armored support is a literal lifesaver. >M41A pulse rifle holds NINETY NINE rounds, with just one direct shot having the potential to kill a fully armored marine, thanks to its ingenious design-- the same armor that I mentioned deflecting grenade blasts from up above. Also much smaller, maneuverable, and much more ergonomic than the Morita, while having a faster ROF, more ammunition, similar range and accuracy (if not better accuracy), and an attached underslung grenade launcher. It's also got a neat ammo counter to tell you when it's time to reload (though putting it on the side was kind of a bad design decision). >Smart Guns are so accurate that rebels thought the Colonial Marines were simply lining up all their guerrillas and shooting them execution style, because they only ever found the bodies with one single hole in them, always in center-mass. The rebels later found out that the three round bursts from the smart guns were being fired from a couple hundred meters away, and each bullet was passing through that one single hole to make it look like only one bullet had been fired. When the rebels found out, they soon quickly surrendered. >ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND ANDROIDS! VERY IMPORTANT IN WARFARE! Tactics, logistics, medicine, translation, navigation, pack-mule, literally anything else you can think of, up to and including combat (combat androids DO exist in the AVP universe). A HUGE force multiplier, both on the field and in war council; absolutely unspeakable advantage fielded by the USCM that the MI simply do not have. CAN'T BE FORGOTTEN! Mobile Infantry: >Numbers! The USCM is a single branch of a single military of a single country. The Mobile Infantry is a HUGE, INTERSTELLAR FORCE with complete cooperation between a range of countries, religions, nationalities, and planets. As explained in the video, even the size of the platoons far outnumber the platoons of the USCM. >Psy-Ops: The only real answer the Mobile Infantry have to USCM artificial intelligence and synthetics. It's implied in the first movie that Neil Patrick Harris was able to send a psychic message to his friend from several hundred kilometers away using his psychic ability, and that his psychic skill will probably only get stronger. This is the MI's "wild card" that makes the battle so unpredictable. >FLEET! HUMONGOUS! ABSOLUTELY DWARFS THE USCM NAVY! Must be 1 USCM ship for every 10 or 20 of the MI. And though I believe the USCM has better weapons, armor, and navigational abilities (USCM AI is much more advanced than rudimentary MI artificial intelligence), they're just way too outnumbered to possibly hope to put up a fair fight. Best chance USCM has is to deploy Stingray interceptors, infiltrate the enemy ship using risky as hell boarding actions, using their hyperdrive jumps to do hit and run attacks on the enemy, attempting to be stealthy, or just plain running away. Can't do much when it's 20 to 1. MI Fleet ships are also capable of doing incredibly long distance jumps, going from Earth to Klendathu in the span of several months, or even weeks. The USCM has nothing even close to that. Outcome: Assuming the war takes place in a mirrored version of the Milky way galaxy, and assuming it's only the USCM with no additional support, versus the MI, with no additional support, then I'm predicting a very Halo-esque war, in which the USCM will overwhelmingly win every major ground battle, but will be severely deficit in major naval battles during the course of the war. Unless the USCM can strike a decisive victory on the MI's production capabilities, then it's going to be very, very difficult for the USCM to win. The MI fleet can be in one part of the galaxy in one month, and then they can jump to a whole other part of the galaxy in the next. The MI will always have first-strike capability due to the size and speed of their naval fleet, and frankly, I don't think the USCM have much of a counter for it beside static defenses, which will be quickly overpowered and destroyed, and stingray interceptors, which, again, are going to be under too much firepower to be of much use. Final Verdict: United States Colonial Marines win the battle, but the Mobile Infantry Fleet win the war.
There is the factor of the relationship between the infantry and their space fleet. We've seen in starship troopers that the Mobile Infantry and space fleet are not good terms while USCM and their space fleet are tight because they do care about what happens to their fellow Marine. The USCM air Force are equipped with fighting capabilities while the MI are just dropped off and server no other purpose
Not to rag on any one who loves star ship troopers but in every movie their casualties are the result of their own stupidity. Theyre just incompetent. Maybe the same could be said about the colonial marines. Real question is actually "Who's the biggest shithead"
The casualties in the movie are a result of command thinking the arachnids were dumb like regular bugs on Earth. Against humans however, they would use actual strategics. And if they hid out and just waited for the infantry to come to them, they wouldnt all just keep rushing through the gun fire, theyd have the sense to stand back and launch an oxygen nuke.
Wait why was my comment deleted? repeating again the same cannot be said for the CM because they had an incompetent leader, had their mags taken and didn't knew what they were dealing with and became over confident so CM curbstomps MI.
When you think about it, it wasn't that Colonial marines weren't competent, its that the enemy they were fighting was cunning, built for sneaking around, utilized ambush tactics, was constantly looking for a new way to attack them. The fact that the CM's weren't wiped out immediately upon encountering the Xenomorphs attests to their competence as a fighting force. Hell, after they lost half their fireteam from the xenomorphs, their first decision is "OK, we're outmatched and outnumbered here, lets retreat and nuke this whole place from orbit." which any sane person would do upon encountering a colony full of Alien murder monsters.
burtburtist this is something I noticed that no one seems to remember about aliens marines. The lieutenant tells them to leave their ammunitons to one marine. Also the marines got caught completely unaware. They got caught without knowing what these things were They went in blind into the xeno near. let's not forget afterward just four marines fucked up most of the xenos by holding two key locations and using sentry guns. Then they kicked ass one more time before they were overrun and ran out of ammo fighting the xenos. the marines in the comics afterward are bad assess who can go toe to toe with Predator warriors and Xenos. Because now they're aware and have developed tactics to fight the xenos.
I would love an all out competition between the colonial marines, starship troopers, the COG soldiers, the soldiers from killzone, MD GEIST soldiers, halo's ODST and the street judges
I think it's fair to say that "Aliens" (1986) is basically James Cameron's take on Starship Troopers - he had all the Marines read the book, had "Bug Stompers" on the drop ship and it seemed like the Marines had encountered "bugs" before. Even "power armor" from the book made a cameo in the loader that Ripley used to fight the queen...pretty cool to think that Aliens is sort of a more grounded/real world take on Starship Troopers...I love both flicks.
Movie wise, Colonial Marines would kick their asses right back into orbit Book wise, Mobile Infantry would literally be pissing themselves laughing with how easy it was to not only kill or defeat them, but humiliate them in the process.
Roughnecks, what we see in the movie is different tactics due to bugs. at the bootcamp part of the movie you just how hardcore training is and dedication to the federation.
To me, Colonial Marines (at least from the depiction in the movie) are more tactical with their gear. They packed more electronics than Mobile Infantry. CM gets armored personnel carrier, which is quite a game changer on small scale engagement, and better ground forces overall than MI. MI, on the other hand, gets total support from Space Navy - which both acts as mix of Navy and Air Force. In close encounter, CM eats MI as breakfast. On open field engagement, Space Navy chew on CM like it's bubblegum long before MI gets the chance to fire their weapons :)) But in the end, CM, simply like it's name - are Marines. And MI are more like an Army. Size wise, MI are bigger since they are the standing army for Terran Federation. And CM was more about independent forces, able to conduct operations - independently, and response to threat lingering at the edge of the system without waiting for their own army. Honestly tho, I would like to know about what-if scenario with CM + MI (as allies!) vs "Bugs" on Outpost 29, although judging from the movie, it's going to be "MI does the dying, CM does the killing" :))
In my opinion weaponry, Battle Tactics, and technology are always more beneficial than just numbers alone, so I strongly believe that the colonial Marines have a edge over the Starship Troopers, because the colonial Marines seem a bit more futuristic compared to the star Troopers that seem more modern and current.
For real. They were shown training against each other before fighting against bugs. "Your enemy can't push a button, if you disable his hand"- Sgt. Zim It's pretty much Army and Marines. I've seen guys from both forces capable of taking the other down.
Mobile infantry ftw, they have psychics, advanced medical tech, portable nukes, and the fleet no orbital strikes from CM's. I think their only weakness is their troop transportation very vulnerable on the way down. They also introduced energy weapons. But the real kicker is the medical edge Rico had a mortal leg wound and it was rebuilt to 100% functionality that device is a game changer. Wounds that would have otherwise minimumally sent him home permanently or worse kill him are no longer a real worry.
Colonial marines are more trained and have better firepower, take M14 Pulse rifles and smart guns with aimbot mechanism. Not to mention the vehicles and heavy future artillery and tanks and missle mounted tanks, also orbital bombardment, mechs I could go on.
00 99 sorry smart guns yes they are powerful but sentries bro really get out ajaj the MI just need a frag and bye bye sentry also both armies have snipers but since they are only using the movies then only the MI would have snipers ahah also since most comments say the CM will only need to you the orbit nukes then the MI will only needs to use the Q bomb from 3 film to win since the bomb is a world breaker bomb and the CM only uses nukes if you dont believe me watch the 3 film the last 10 mins also a 10mm pulse rifle has a range of shor to medium range do to its small caliber and short barrel and well the mara rifle of the MI is a battle rifle or assault rifle with a bigger barrel and bullet it travel farther and faster with more kinetic force MI wins
Gibran Jimenez You can't efficiently take out sentries without being torn apart by them like getting close to that just to jam a grenade? That's a deathwish also MI use WW1 tactics so how is that going to help?
Wow, if you gonna include major equipement, I think that starship troopers' mech are gonna win by far. And you don't know what tactic MI would use against an human enemy.
On speaking about real life, Starship Troopers inspire countless "military innovation" both on sci-fi or real world. And yes, as someone already stated above, MI has everything that CM has. However, looking at what CM was, they are more like Marines, independent forces with everything they have - except numbers. MI was more like an Army, far more numerous, however in comparison with training of CM, MI does lacking some - possibly a lot. Although when engaging head-on, I'd say MI has the edge. Quantity has it's own quality. However that like pitting US Army vs US Marines, which is a mismatch. We don't see a marines version of Terran Federation (Starship Trp.) or standing army of UAAC (Alien). However, to see wider picture, UAAC was a continent-wide military forces, comprised of United Americas - a one of three government on Earth. Each has colonies in space - the same as Terran Federation. However, Terran Federation was a planet-wide government. THAT comparison alone will answer who will win in the war. Especially if the war is limited to "earth-sized" capacity - no colonies providing support and only fight with what they have on their own "Earth".
The marines in Aliens, were also at HALF staff. Two platoons were the usual compliment for the ship. So even at 50 % staffing, they would kick the ass out of a squad of MI troopers. At full strength? Not a chance.
Colonial Marines, Because: + Smartguns, Motion Tracker, M41A Pulse Rifle, Sentry guns + Better starcrafts + Fighting not only Xenomorphs, sometimes they fight Weyland-Yutani and Hostile Factions (for example faction from Linna-349, called ,,Bug-boys'' by marines. In this battle was USS Sulaco too) + Encountered the Yautja as well + You can paint or draw on your armor and weapons too :)
My money's on the Colonial Marines. Now, Colonial Marines vs the Arachnids, who would win that? I think the marines would turn the bugs into paste, because they pack explosive tipped ammunition in their pulse rifles, meaning the exoskeletons are going to be taking much more abuse. And that doesn't even begin to address how the M41A pulse rifles also include grenade launchers.
Colonial Marines would lose against the bugs. The Bugs would literally run them out of ammo and slaughter them afterwards if need be since their ground troops are quite literally completely expendable. Unlike the Xenomorphs the bugs wouldn't back off from Sentry Turrets they would literally charge them to death until they broke through which given the numbers they attack in wouldn't take very long. And they can't take off and nuke the sight from Orbit when the bugs blow their orbiting ship out of orbit from the ground before they can pull back. Bug Plasma is not Random or Light.
@@Tazkar Plus the Arachnids were known for piling on top of their dead comrades to get over walls. Though, if the Xenomorphs had the numbers...ooh that's a scary thought right there. I honestly wouldn't want to face either and both the Terran Federation and the USCM would hang me for treason.
Mobile infantry will win easily. They need to launch a mini nuke warhead rocket launcher like from the movie and call it a day. While the colonial marine need to get to orbit then launch the nuke.
Leon S Kennedy Not if the Colonial marines nuke them first and the Mobile infantry would get raped on land hence the superior firepower. and that is just a squad imagine a whole army I mean come on don't get me started with the tech manuel.
who's to say the CM's wouldn't be able to survive the weapon by taking cover in their APCs? CM's also have hella air support. What do Troopers have? Lots and lots and lots of boots on the ground and a pseudo nuke that isn't really a nuke its more like a fuel air bomb or something. Check history, how'd that human wave shit work out for the Soviets? Lots and lots and lots of dead soviets, thats how that worked. That's just with similar technologies, with the Colonial marines, they have auto targeting smart weapons and no small number of heavy weaponry that'd make mincemeat out of mobile infantry, with armored support and air support to boot.
Cynical Sergal ML have one more major arsenal under their sleeve: Q Bomb. Enough to wipe out entire planet with a push of a button without even need to send boots to the ground. Problem solved.
The way I see it now the Starship troopers are basically like space Army men compared to the colonial Marines so this is basically like a fight between the U.S. Army vs U.S. Marines.
Coh2 Conscript... Quantity is NOT better than quality. The red army was getting its ass handed to it. If it weren't for the Russian winter, they'd have lost decisively.
sorry buddy but why didnt ypu include the Q bomb from the 3 film MI since many people in comments are saying the CM would nuke from orbit but the MI would just use the Q bomb from the 3 movie and destroy the planet and anything near it aka the CM ships remeber its only the movie also MI SHIP USE LIGHT SPEED TO TRAVEL AND WELL CM I DONT THINK SO THEY CAN EASILY DROP BY CLOSE AND DROP THE Q BOMB JUMP IN LIGHT SPEED AGAIN AND ESCAPE EASILY
I read the description and it said two most iconic space marines. hmmm clearly you don't know about the adeptus astartes (space marines) from warhammer 40k.
Colonial marines for sure. From what we saw, they are highly professional and carry more universally tactical weapons for any situation. Having a synthetic also can help when you need him or her to do risky missions that would be subside for a regular marine. Oh and they basically get a tank that's very maneuverable so yeah, a tank is going even up those extra bodies that the star ship trooper marines have
Colonial Marine combat doctrine, is geared with assumption that they'll always be outnumbered and so they are equipped and trained accordingly. CM's will have a serious advantage in mobility (Ironically) over the Mobile Infantry, through not just the APC, but also the UD-6 Cheyan dropship, which can quickly pick up and redeploy the Marine platoon anywhere on the planet that the MI aren't prepared for them, as well as provide air support once they are on the ground.
The MI from the novel would slaughter the colonial marines before they had time to respond. They never had the powered armor in the movie or the Roughneck Chronicles. The armor was what gave them their mobility. The ones in the film are just plain infantry.
Starship Troopers have better equipment and technology. They are also more competent in dealing with a xenomorph type alien . Starship Troopers are also not dumb enough to to send their ENTIRE fighting force and crew to a hostile planet leaving no crew on the main ship as reinforcements or rescue.
The Colonial Marines only sent one platoon to investigate the place... But for me it's really stupid how for all the deaths and casualties the Starship troopers got they could've simply nuked the entire planet XD
It's actually kinda funny. They both are actually bet equipped to fight the others enemy, the Colonial Marines are better equipped for an all out war with many targets at once in an open space rather than guerrilla warfare in small hallways and corridors (e.g vs the arachnids). And the the troopers are well suited for close quarter combat against fewer targets (E.g the xenos)
As much as the Morita rifle and their variants + the Oxigen nuke give them the edge, the Colonial Marines seem more resilient, since Xenomorphs are really hard too kill as well + all the Predators they have faced.
I wouldn't use the starship troopers movie as lore or for a fair comparison. The suits are completely different from the novel and I think that should factor into the comparison.
Colonial Marines have this one, provided you stick to the movies. Their dropships are equipped for CAS roles, and the have APC's with heavy weapons as well. They also appear to have better training, and aren't keen to charge into fights they can't win. USCM troops also have much, much better personal weaponry, with the M41A having an underslung grenade launcher, and the M56 Smartgun being an actual macine gun, something the Mobile Infantry lack outside of stationary defences. The vehicle component can't be overstaed though, since it means the USCM have more flexibility and on site assets in the battlespace than the MI. The Mobile Infantry on the other hand do have nukes, but only a few per platoon with one weapons team; and there's a high likelyhood that the nuke team would be killed before being able to use their weapon, or be killed when they pop up to use it (cover isn't an MI thing). Their lack of basic sights on thier service weapons also means that the bulk of the fighting force needs to get very close to be effective. Even if equipped with the energy weapon seen at the end of the fim, they would still be disadvantaged for lack of a complete set of sights (shooting a hill with a shotgun style bead with no rear iron sight is not the same as engaging multiple man sized moving targets), and a slow rate of fire. So in a platoon on platoon fight, the USCM are most likely to win, simply because they have better weaponsand gear, better training, and would not want to play by MI's rulebook of "rush towards the enemy and fire like crazy" theory of conflict. Overall, the USCM are just better overall, as the MI developed tactics that were ultimately defeated by those used by the USCM.
Really? That's like saying The US Army would lost but the Army Rangers would win. The ODST ARE the elite marine soldiers of the UNSC. So the UNSC would still win on those terms. So the UNSC would still win.
They are still Spartans. They still have significant augmentations. They start out as adults with a wider range or skill sets and experiences. S-IVs are not as uniformly developed but that does not really matter, they would still steam roll the CMs without trying hard.
Marines they may have a smaller force but a larger percentage of the team is specialized troops allowing for more tactical options and like you said quality vs quantity and the Mobile infantry don't have enough of the latter to make up for the former
for anyone who ever read the book of Starship Troopers, they know that the mobile infantry are actually Mech squads in power armor suits, so the screenwriters took quite a bit of liberty in the movie. As far as comparison, it is like apples and oranges. The Colonial Marines are obviously marines ,but the Mobile Infantry is more like standard army infantry units, deploying en mass, based mainly on the rifleman, whereas marines are generally fire teams or platoons, with weapon specialist personnel, focusing mainly on search and destroy or recon. Not to mention the fact the look of the Mobile Infantry is a blatant rip-off of the Colonial Marines.
The Colonial Marine smart gun alone could do some serious damage in a infantry vs infantry fight unless the Federation brought in those mech armor things I seen in the third movie. If the Marines had a couple smart guns supported by the other infantry they could probably mow down large numbers of regular Federation infantry but the Feds do have those mini nukes.
I like the threat level the original movies portrayed the xenomorphs how when an organized team of marines where able to kill dozens of them and only died when overrun but alien resurrection is like "1 OVOMORPH WILL KILL EVERYONE!!!!!!"
Colonial Marines win and here are the reasons. Superior training, weapons, better body armor, gunships that double as dropships, and the inclusion of Ground vehicles including tanks (which the MI lack). Now, the MI strat is to field as many guns as possible showing that they prefer strength in numbers, therefore the killing blow: the USCM has access in every M557, canisters of CN-20 nerve gas. Unleash that on a horde of MI and the USCM automatically wins.
Chibi xXxScrublordsxXx "Colonial Marines win and here are the reasons. Superior training..." If we're going by the movies alone, Mobile Infantry basic training covers things like knife throwing. Mobile Infantry incorporate ninja-ish training in their basic training. Try again. "...weapons...." Mobile Infantry use functional mini-nuke bazookas. Try again. "...better body armor..." Based on what? "Now, the MI strat is to field as many guns as possible showing that they prefer strength in numbers..." In other words, the MI not only have the technological and firepower advantage, but also superior numbers too. Advantage Mobile Infantry.
Going movie vs movie version, USCM pretty well have this. This is without talking about fleets and armaments outside their standard infantry support (of which, we really don't know what all the Sulaco had packing). Anyway, the USCM tech is just too powerful. Their guns have more ammunition and utility with advanced targeting systems, and a lot of the weaponry they had on hand and didn't utilize is incredibly powerful, putting even the MI tactical nuke to shame. They have everything they need to both hunker down and defend, or go on the offensive and root out ambushes. And even if things do go sour, they have someone patched in who can directly see everything happening across the battlefield, where everyone is, and coordinate a response. MI has a numbers advantage, but are woefully outgunned and less organized. It would be a bloodbath.
colonial marines seem properly equipped but honestly the mobile infantry has more meat to them, also the Mobile infantry where molded to fight the Bugs, the colonial marines where dealing with first contact, the nostromo was a minor incident.
I actually agree with this. However it might come down to how well ship to ship battles for any air support play out and we never got to see that in the Alien franchise. I think it's past time someone made a movie about that. I read most of the commits before mine and most people complain how the Marines were caught of guard at the Lt.'s request to handover their ammo. They weren't told why, they should have been though. A proper division of Colonial Marines may well surpass the Mobile Infantry. But it all depends on how well their warship preforms.
gwill1022 Bugs. Hands down. The existence of the brain bug alone guarantees their victory. Xenomorphs are not psychically control. Otherwise the xenomorph Queen would be able to control humans which she cannot. Furthermore in the movie Aliens, the queen has to physically gaze and grunt at her honor guard to move out of Ripley's way when Ripley was in their hive. We know for a fact that bring bugs psychically control their species and other species as well. The Xenomorphs will get their asses kicked. But if there is no brain bug, the warrior bugs will tear through three or four Xenomorphs before it's blood will start to melt away at their exoskeleton skin. Even then you can take off a limb and the warrior bug is still 86% combat effective. Plus Xenomorphs do not have the numbers to swarm the bugs
It would really come down to location I think. If it's inside a complex, the Colonial Marines probably have the upper hand as they can set up shop a lot better than the Mobile Infantry. Sure you could just fire a nuke and call it a day, but that depends on whether or not they can even use it without harming their own people and still managing to inflict heavy damage against the enemy. Case in point being a complex that it designed to withstand a nuke. If the fight is more in the open with some trenches and the odd tunnels. Mobile Infantry would win as they have better ranged weapons, additional troops and a couple of nukes to say hello with. There's also some of the upgraded weapons that we don't really see get put to use (ending of the first movie where they had what looked like a new assault rifle that blew up a mountain and I think in the second movie their assault rifles were more like pulse rifles (energy), but I don't feel like watching that abomination to find out). The Marauder was also left out of this even though they were in the third film and while not something used on a regular basis (at least by film standards due to budget, they made a frequent appearance in the show), can easily turn the tide given the amount of firepower they're capable of. Lastly, those talking about fleet side stuff. As it stands, money would be on the Mobile Infantry. Main reason being that the Colonial Marines don't really show much of a fleet in any regards besides as transports while the Mobile Infantry would actually use theirs in engagements (besides the initial engagement because you gotta rake in a body count for the views!) to soften the area or provide additional support where needed. To top it off, by the third film, they get a planet buster, so no real need to show up, just check to confirm that there are enemies on the planet, then press the red button. Okay I lied, this is the actual last thing. Talks of differences in training and efficiency, if we're talking about the main units that we got in both films, it's about equal as the Colonial Marines shown are suppose to be total badasses (not much else to go on to be honest, maybe something in the book? XD but this is based on the movies so...), but the Roughnecks are also suppose to be the best unit in the Mobile Infantry with the highest bug body count with some of the lowest casualties because Rasczak only takes the best.
It ultimately depends on the skill of the Troopers vs the skill of the Marines. A typical Trooper platoon would likely be mostly cannon fodder for the Marines, however a quality platoon that has weeded out the weak members could out perform the Marines.
I think it would be kinda 50 50 they both have edges and they both don't I would like to see a video where you put starship troopers noble infantry against the xenomorphs out like the abandons colony and basic my the noble infantry does what the marine did in aliens the same with the marines have the marines go into a setting like outpost 29 or whiskey outpost and they fight the bugs once again only 1 platoon for each scenario
Just a little nitpick regarding the Smartguns carried by the Colonial Marines: Using today's military terminology, they would actually be classified as light machine guns, not heavy. Light machineguns, like the M-60 and similiar weapons, are defined as being able to be carried and used by one man like a rifle. The only need for others in the operation of the weapon is as spotters and to carry extra ammo. Medium machine guns, while man-portable, are too heavy to be carried and used by one man. They are either carried into battle and then set up on a tripod or bipod or are mounted onto a vehicle. Heavy machine guns, like the M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun that has been in use since WWII, are generally too heavy to be carried by infantry. They are either vehicle mounted or mounted on a tripod or other carriage in fixed fortifications. Light and medium machine guns are designed for use against infantry and unarmored vehicles. Heavy machine guns, while still deadly against infantry (one shot is enough to rip a man in half from hydrostatic shock) are generally used against buildings, aircraft and light armored vehicles.
I would pay anything to see the Colonial Marines do a crossover with Starship troopers because I love both movies and characters but now I wish Hollywood would make a movie with Colonial Marines and Starship Troopers Mobile Infantry team up against the Arachnids and the Neomorphs.
This depends if the Starship Troopers come from the movie or book. Book would win hands down but both troops seem incompetent in both movie series. The colonial marines might be a bit more well armed have a bit smarter tactics so that might give them the edge. I also feel that the environment they are fighting in would tip the balance. If the battle is in an open desert the edge would go to the Troopers because of the large numbers and good visuals. If the battle is in a building that is closed off, the edge would go to the marines because the cramp quarters would nullify the Troopers numbers and the marines could track them with the motion tracker as well as gun them down with turrets.
The MI, with the firepower they have the colonial marines are under gunned. There was a PC game based on the Starship Troopers movie and they did indeed have armored vehicles, but even the movies eventually bring in the famous powered suit. So the colonial marines are still outgunned and out numbered. Any one that would say colonial marines is just an Aliens fan boi and does know jack.
Digging into the various lore from both franchises, if this were to come down to anything other than a platoon-level skirmish, Mobile Infantry starts racking up the wins in a hurry. That said, it's mainly because they bring pure overkill to everything they do, whereas the USCM has such extensive training that a platoon is expected to be able to garrison and hold a planet for months on end, based solely on training, discipline, and the variety of tools and weapon systems that each platoon is supplied with. Once you scale up to a full company, Mobile Infantry is handily wiping the floor with the Colonial Marines in open combat, but digging the Marines out of an entrenched position is going to be like a second Battle of Klendathu; casualties too numerous to count for very little payoff per engagement. Ridgeway tanks and SADAR launchers set in fortified emplacements would be able to smash Vikings out of the sky before the MI gets to deploy troopers, but there's always "more meat for the grinder" and that means they can overwhelm with sheer numbers. Or write off the location as a loss and turn the whole place into a parking lot from orbit. This video's got a pretty accurate assessment of forces depicted in the films, but expanding to the the greater lore turns this real ugly for my beloved USCM once you scale the forces even a single notch.
I got a idea predator vs the warrior bug well actually now that I think about it predator would probably win a one on one fight since he can camouflage himself and has a arsenal of ranged weapons.
You forget about the particle beam phalanx, M78 Phased Plasma Infantry gun, and the USCM carries biological weapons, radiological weapons, chemical weapons, and nukes that have multiple methods of deployment.
my husband loves both movies and so do i but for me i would say the Colonial Marines would take it their tech and experience would play a factor. Also i’m married to a gruff Ex-soldier who is a security contractor today who left the military as a Sergeant.
I'm rooting for the Marines, more efficient weapons and tactics, plus of you want to include the power armor from Marauder, the Colonial Marines do have weaponized exosuits from the game AVP Extinction
Yeah but we're only doing movies, not games, even if you added in the exosuit, the MI's exosuit is farm more powerful. You also have to take into account that in the 2nd starship troopers movie they started producing energy weapons for the MI to use, and the MI used psychic soldiers and officers as well.
I would have to give it to the CM because the M41A fires rounds that explode shortly after impact. Not to mention the CM is trained for fighting people while the MI are trained to fight bug swarms. If they fought in an open area with some range I could give it to the MI for the nuke but if it's indoors and tight corners I would say the CM would win everytime
EchoThreeTwo MI is trained to fight both even in the first film they do drill against each other and knife training for close combat. So they aren't not trained to fight humans. And their weapons are better for long range and then they have under slug shotguns for close range if anything I would say it would tie if not for the MI having more troopers. As for sentries they would just snipe it from afar or in close step back and make a new entrance with a nuke as hunkering down when your enemy has micro nukes is a bad idea. And the smart gun isn't as good in close but good for mid range, and the pulse rifle is good for mid and close range and having a grenade launcher makes them good for stacking a defensive position so neither force could hunker down against the other as then then colonial would set up sentry guns outside the base to shoot them. So the defender loses and the attacker wins in most cases. But in open battle I give it too the MI because of numbers since I'd say training wise is identical to theirs and equipment are counters to each other.
shane bowman I don't think the MI would use the nuke in cqc. The MI is trained all around but when you're fighting swarms of bugs they're going to lean towards that in basic. Yea they get trained in hand to hand combat but if I had to guess I would say their training is more centered to grouping up and putting rounds in bugs. The CM on the other hand have lots of experience in fighting people. Sure the MI have more people but the CM makes up for that with sentries. I don't think the CM would be stupid enough to set their sentries up anywhere where they could be taken out from a distance. Plus the CM we see in Aliens knew they were going to a colony in tight quarters so their loadout was more suited for that, not to mention it was a just a recon mission to see why the colony went silent. I think if the CM knew they we going to be fighting in areas with long sight ranges or there was a potential for that they would bring a sniper of two. If they do end up fighting in the open the MI has a huge advantage with the nuke, but the CM have armed dropships and an APC. I don't know how well the nuke would be against a fast moving ground target or if it's effective against a fast moving air target at all. I just think the CM are better trained and equipped all around for fighting people and that gives them a huge advantage, and I think their more flexible in loadout than the MI. Would the MI be easy to beat? I don't think so, I believe the battle would really be determined by location and how well that nuke could be used against very fast moving targets. If you want to say the nuke is the end all be all then I would say the CM would just nuke them from orbit and be done with it.
EchoThreeTwo I didn't say they would use a nuke in cqc I said they would use it by leaving the structure and then nuking it and if they used their ship to nuke then wouldn't the MI ship just shoot it and destroy it since there ships actually have guns. And if we shall bring other load outs and not those involved in the selection provided how would a colonial marine deal with a marauder suit which I can wipe out entire hordes I've arachnid with their aoe attack and their heavy machine guns and missle launchers and the ability to fly. And you say training still they are more focused to deal with bugs yet the bug war only recently started so most seasoned vets would be all trained on killing humans since they have to deal with insurrection all the time. I love colonial marines and do believe there basic load outs are on par with each other which is why in small battle with even numbers they are equal since once has the ability to make a strong defence whilst the other can Crack any defence, and their guns are all the same you got shot by the pulse rifle or MI rifle you will die and the MI rifle is better cqc because of the shotgun and the pulse rifle is better mid range coz of the grenade launcher and I know colonials bring shotguns too but all MI rifles come with the underslug like the pulse rifle. An open battlefield is the best for both parties as both excel and cqc. The only difference is technology level and sheer numbers difference which sadly favours MI since they have better ftl and marauder suits, and their ships are combat armed. Like I say it's draw unless all toys come out to play in which it's a land slide victory for the MI. Anyway was a good discussion gotta sleep I check your reply later
I'm sure the CM would have something up their arsenal for armor. The MI only deploy the suit for instances where they will be fighting thousands of bugs and do not want to expend or have the manpower to take them on. As for ships, the CM are armed too. Yea we didn't see it in the movie but there was no space fight for them to use the ship's weapons. I love both parties but if we're doing platoon against platoon I would have to give it to the CM. Even doing basic loadouts the CM are more well equipped to take on another platoon. I don't think the MI would use a nuke that probably costs a buttload of money to make just to wipe out a platoon of people. As for weapons, no they're not equal. The Morita assault rifle fires a .308 round that has excellent penetration while the M41A fires an anti personnel round that detonates shortly after penetrating a target. So in terms of survivability I would say that if a round from the M41A goes through you're dead, while round from the Morita would most likely kill you there's far more likely of a chance of surviving. The CM would deploy with and armed dropship and APC whereas the MI would deploy with a dropship that is lightly armed if at all. If they fight in open grounds that has decent cover and good mid range sight lines I would give it to the CM simply for the fact that they can actually aim their guns while th MI would have to burst and adjust fire. The CM are far more likely to wipe out any trooper that tries to get close with the shotgun, but even if they did we don't know how well the CM armor could take a hit. That's the worst part about trying to decide a victor because we haven't seen either of their armor actually take any rounds, but to be fair a trooper did die to a flying trench tool to the back. The CM would probably deploy the sentries to stop the MI from flanking them, get good sight lines that the smart gunners could take full advantage of, and if need be use their dropship and APC for fire support. The MI would probably try to make it a ranged fight aswell and avoid getting closer than mid range combat. In the end I think the CM have more at their disposal and definitely more than enough to even out an 11 man difference if that's what the MI would even use when going up against humans. They would setup with their trackers and wait to get an ambush on the MI.
different topics for different enemies people and remember in the Starship Trooper Universe the mobile infantry is the special forces now you have to do the book version
Who do you think would win?
colonial marines
Hybrid Network I think the mobile infantry
Hybrid Network Troopers,
You can't say all the troopers would do is charge the marines. They charge the bugs because the bugs have no long range weapons. If you put human against human than that changes everything.
Also, how do you figure the marines are better trained? The marine training is never shown in any of the alien media if I'm not mistaken.
If you as me the troopers have better training and unit cohesion.
Hybrid Network Marines would win. Vazquez would wipe the floor with the Troopers. And Hudson would tell an inappropriate joke about it.😈
Starship troopers
Do a switch-a-roo. Mobile Infantry vs Aliens or Colonial Marines vs Aracnids. That be a cool video.
Hooves Buck Oh man yea please, this is an awesome idea!
Hooves Buck colonial marines would wipe the floor with the arachnids
Dj Tapatio they can't handle one super smart bug how will they survive a planet of them
the mobile infantry would completely lose against the xenomorphs due to how drastically different their enemy is and the tactics they use.
Cynical Sergal depends if they we're. taken by surprise or knew it was after them
I think the colonial marines would win since they can just hunker down & wait for the mobile infantry to charge right into a barrage of smart guns & sentry gun fire
Steel 1974 except that the Mobile infantry could just lob a tactical nuke at your position.
Yeah, first week at the start of the war WWI tactics. :)
Because, they don't know where the marines are hiding.
in close quarter situations like that the MI would just fall back, nuke the CMs, and move on.
Rinse, wash, and repeat until victory is achieved :/
Colonial Marines:
>Body armor is very tough from a 21st century standpoint.
Mobile Infantry:
>Numbers!
Outcome:
Assuming the war takes place in a mirrored version of the Milky way galaxy, and assuming it's only the USCM with no additional support, versus the MI, with no additional support, then I'm predicting a very Halo-esque war, in which the USCM will overwhelmingly win every major ground battle, but will be severely deficit in major naval battles during the course of the war.
Final Verdict:
United States Colonial Marines win the battle, but the Mobile Infantry Fleet win the war.
Not really starship troopers have poor intelligence and the mobile inf manage to survive how bad they are
When you think about it, it wasn't that Colonial marines weren't competent, its that the enemy they were fighting was cunning, built for sneaking around, utilized ambush tactics, was constantly looking for a new way to attack them.
Colonial Marines
seeing the Mobile Infantry & Colonial Marines team up against the Xenomorphs and bug army would be "Epic"
I would love an all out competition between the colonial marines, starship troopers, the COG soldiers, the soldiers from killzone, MD GEIST soldiers, halo's ODST and the street judges
Colonial marines
I think it's fair to say that "Aliens" (1986) is basically James Cameron's take on Starship Troopers - he had all the Marines read the book, had "Bug Stompers" on the drop ship and it seemed like the Marines had encountered "bugs" before.
Even "power armor" from the book made a cameo in the loader that Ripley used to fight the queen...pretty cool to think that Aliens is sort of a more grounded/real world take on Starship Troopers...I love both flicks.
can't believe you did this awesome!
3:39 much better weapon compare to mini nuke ?
Movie wise, Colonial Marines would kick their asses right back into orbit
Book wise, Mobile Infantry would literally be pissing themselves laughing with how easy it was to not only kill or defeat them, but humiliate them in the process.
Keep em coming nick. Thanks for all the hard work buddy
On open field engagement, Space Navy chew on CM like it's bubblegum long before MI gets the chance to fire their weapons :))
But in the end, CM, simply like it's name - are Marines.
Unfair you can't say all they do is charge. They wouldn't use that tactic against humans.
Even in the movie they are shown to strategize.
For real. They were shown training against each other before fighting against bugs. "Your enemy can't push a button, if you disable his hand"- Sgt. Zim
It's pretty much Army and Marines. I've seen guys from both forces capable of taking the other down.
what's the music in the video called
The M.I. from the books has that stuff as well, power armor, heavy weaponry attached to their suits, tanks etc.
00 99 sorry smart guns yes they are powerful but sentries bro really get out ajaj the MI just need a frag and bye bye sentry also both armies have snipers but since they are only using the movies then only the MI would have snipers ahah
also since most comments say the CM will only need to you the orbit nukes
then the MI will only needs to use the Q bomb from 3 film to win since the bomb is a world breaker bomb and the CM only uses nukes if you dont believe me watch the 3 film the last 10 mins
also a 10mm pulse rifle has a range of shor to medium range do to its small caliber and short barrel and well the mara rifle of the MI is a battle rifle or assault rifle with a bigger barrel and bullet it travel farther and faster with more kinetic force
MI wins
Gibran Jimenez
You can't efficiently take out sentries without being torn apart by them like getting close to that just to jam a grenade?
Colonial Marines,
Because:
+ Smartguns, Motion Tracker, M41A Pulse Rifle, Sentry guns
+ Better starcrafts
+ Fighting not only Xenomorphs, sometimes they fight Weyland-Yutani and Hostile Factions (for example faction from Linna-349, called ,,Bug-boys'' by marines. In this battle was USS Sulaco too)
+ Encountered the Yautja as well
+ You can paint or draw on your armor and weapons too :)
If you read Heinlein's book, the Mobile Infantry had powered suits, they didn't use them in the movie because of the high costs for the fx
Asertix357 MI has power armor
Colonial Marines have a huge edge. Their guns actually have sights!
I want to know, who do you think would win. The Covenant or the MI?
The covenant the MI don't aim and there's snipers and spec ops elites to pick off those would be fatman launchers
+Hybrid Network colonial marines vs arachnids and mobile infantry vs xenomorphs!
what about the ruffnecks series of the marines? its animated and covers several planets
I still vote for Xenomorph/Black-Goo vs Flood!
But anyways, great work as always. Keep it up, guys. :)
colonial marines vs mobile infantry vs imerial guard vs stormtroopers vs unsc marines
any other sifi infantry type guys i forgot?
I was thinking about this
Mobile infantry will win easily. They need to launch a mini nuke warhead rocket launcher like from the movie and call it a day. While the colonial marine need to get to orbit then launch the nuke.
Leon S Kennedy
Not if the Colonial marines nuke them first and the Mobile infantry would get raped on land hence the superior firepower. and that is just a squad imagine a whole army I mean come on don't get me started with the tech manuel.
who's to say the CM's wouldn't be able to survive the weapon by taking cover in their APCs? CM's also have hella air support. What do Troopers have? Lots and lots and lots of boots on the ground and a pseudo nuke that isn't really a nuke its more like a fuel air bomb or something. Check history, how'd that human wave shit work out for the Soviets? Lots and lots and lots of dead soviets, thats how that worked. That's just with similar technologies, with the Colonial marines, they have auto targeting smart weapons and no small number of heavy weaponry that'd make mincemeat out of mobile infantry, with armored support and air support to boot.
they also have a Q bomb which can destroy a planet i comes out in the 3 movie not kidding
Cynical Sergal ML have one more major arsenal under their sleeve: Q Bomb. Enough to wipe out entire planet with a push of a button without even need to send boots to the ground. Problem solved.
do u really think they would use that to kill the marines? thats kinda dumb
Colonial Marines all the way
The way I see it now the Starship troopers are basically like space Army men compared to the colonial Marines so this is basically like a fight between the U.S. Army vs U.S. Marines.
Do a video about UNSC Marine Corps vs Colonial Marines/Starship Troopers
Pitting the Mobile infantry against Colonial Marines is like sending a legion of Red Army troops against a unit of Waffen SS.
This Liberal Shithole
Yeah the CM is literally an Army of Elites and the firepower they got if fucking top notch.
quantity > quality
Coh2 Conscript... Quantity is NOT better than quality. The red army was getting its ass handed to it. If it weren't for the Russian winter, they'd have lost decisively.
Both sides are still full of incompetent shitheads who don't know what their doing though
iron cross holders vs. conscripts
sorry buddy but why didnt ypu include the Q bomb from the 3 film MI since many people in comments are saying the CM would nuke from orbit but
the MI would just use the Q bomb from the 3 movie and destroy the planet and anything near it aka the CM ships
remeber its only the movie also MI SHIP USE LIGHT SPEED TO TRAVEL AND WELL CM I DONT THINK SO THEY CAN EASILY DROP BY CLOSE AND DROP THE Q BOMB JUMP IN LIGHT SPEED AGAIN AND ESCAPE EASILY
Oh and they basically get a tank that's very maneuverable so yeah, a tank is going even up those extra bodies that the star ship trooper marines have
It's game over, man!
Hell yeah! I totally agree!
You forgot to mention sharp sticks when talking of the Colonial Marines weaponry.
It's actually kinda funny. They both are actually bet equipped to fight the others enemy, the Colonial Marines are better equipped for an all out war with many targets at once in an open space rather than guerrilla warfare in small hallways and corridors (e.g vs the arachnids). And the the troopers are well suited for close quarter combat against fewer targets (E.g the xenos)
since the Halo ODST's were inspired by the Mobile Infantry in SST who would win?
The fact that you gave the mobile infantry a nuke is a no brainer.
As much as the Morita rifle and their variants + the Oxigen nuke give them the edge, the Colonial Marines seem more resilient, since Xenomorphs are really hard too kill as well + all the Predators they have faced.
It's like putting Kasrkin vs Imperial Guard
Colonial Marines - the most badass MFers in the galaxy
Very interesting. As i've thought about this over the years. I would have to say tied on both.
It almost as if one was made to be a slightly different but similar copy/different issue soldier in similar time periods.
That just begs for "Colonial Marines (Invasion) vs The UNSC (HALO)" No Spartans.
what about Spartan 4's
DocWolph unsc marines would loss but a squad of odst would demolish them
S-IVs are not as uniformly developed but that does not really matter, they would still steam roll the CMs without trying hard.
grammar
book version of the starship troopers would mollywamp but I think colonial marines would beat the film version of the mobile infantry
Darth Porkins
Tech manuel is a good opponent for the book.
comic version of the Colonel merines would shit on the book version of the MI
comic version of the Colonel merines would shit on the book version of the MI
I know you guys don't usually do video game stuff but I would love to see the alien colonial marines go up against the unsc (not including Spartans)
How about Combat Jackets from Edge of Tomorrow VS Colonial Marines in Aliens.
Marines they may have a smaller force but a larger percentage of the team is specialized troops allowing for more tactical options and like you said quality vs quantity and the Mobile infantry don't have enough of the latter to make up for the former
Request: Xenomorph Queen vs Brain Bug. Good job. 🌮🥪🍗🍟🍔🍕🌭🍦
what about xenomorph vs bugs?
I understand limiting them to first appearances, but invasion takes place in the film universe with 1,2, and 3
for anyone who ever read the book of Starship Troopers, they know that the mobile infantry are actually Mech squads in power armor suits, so the screenwriters took quite a bit of liberty in the movie.
My cousin Todd is a male nurse, and he could kick both their asses!
Could the Morita's underbarrel shotgun launch pulse rifle grenades?
22 years ago me and my cousin's had a debate on who would win between the colonial marines and the movie infantry lol
Where to start. The version you are not looking at the invasion/Traitor of Mars or the Book. they would both wipe the Floor with the Marines.
U.S. colonial marines vs the Starship troopers Bugs. That will be ALLSOME.
Chibi xXxScrublordsxXx Get MI from the book and Colonial marines will get stomped.
But nuclear RPGs?
How can you use the oxygen nuke if the guys needed to fire it have been gassed? :/
Chibi xXxScrublordsxXx
"Colonial Marines win and here are the reasons. Superior training..."
If we're going by the movies alone, Mobile Infantry basic training covers things like knife throwing. Mobile Infantry incorporate ninja-ish training in their basic training. Try again.
"...weapons...."
Mobile Infantry use functional mini-nuke bazookas. Try again.
"...better body armor..."
Based on what?
"Now, the MI strat is to field as many guns as possible showing that they prefer strength in numbers..."
In other words, the MI not only have the technological and firepower advantage, but also superior numbers too.
Advantage Mobile Infantry.
quality vs qualitative, Aliens Colonial Marines are quality. The Starship Troopers qualitative.
What, UNSC marines vs Aliens Marines?
MI, because they have Rico, single handedly took down a tanker bug.
You should do a video between the Starship trooper bugs vs the Aliens.
gwill1022
Bugs.
James Cameron had the cast of Aliens read Starship Troopers.
Well.
Tactical portable nukes... Versus...
Motion trackers
You forget about the particle beam phalanx, M78 Phased Plasma Infantry gun, and the USCM carries biological weapons, radiological weapons, chemical weapons, and nukes that have multiple methods of deployment.
@@jillvalentinefan77 you forgot the sharp sticks. 😂
@@dennisvicarth6823 Which turns out to be an acronym for a dart firing delayed fuse explosive weapon looks like a rifle complete with optics
tough call. Marines has better training, troopers has bodies and tactical nukes.
You forgot the sharp sticks!
Please do a xeno Rex vs yautja
my husband loves both movies and so do i but for me i would say the Colonial Marines would take it their tech and experience would play a factor. Also i’m married to a gruff Ex-soldier
who is a security contractor today who left the military as a Sergeant.
Colonial Marines. If it was the book's version of the Mobile Infantry though, it would take just one or two men to take down hundreds of CMs.
The Troopers because of creativity
I'm rooting for the Marines, more efficient weapons and tactics, plus of you want to include the power armor from Marauder, the Colonial Marines do have weaponized exosuits from the game AVP Extinction
wolfmantheimpaler And that exosuit is shitty compared to what MI has in the book.
Yeah but we're only doing movies, not games, even if you added in the exosuit, the MI's exosuit is farm more powerful.
You also have to take into account that in the 2nd starship troopers movie they started producing energy weapons for the MI to use, and the MI used psychic soldiers and officers as well.
Finally someone knows the book! The movies ruin it all. The powered armors from the book would have so Amazing.
