I did not realize there was a "good guy" in versuswolves. I assumed it was two villains trying to outdo each other.
It's overall one bad guy and one neutral guy who counters...

His "impossible, I did [thing], how could I lose?" is that Woolie essentially focused on buying as many lottery tickets as possible and was getting salty that he didn't win the lottery more. Minh, meanwhile, constantly planned for "I will try X, then do A if X works and B if X fails." So he always had at least half a plan.
That's his style of heel work - denying he's a heel
So this is the kind of game where you press 1 button, take 2 steps and the game pulverizes your kneecaps for having the audacity to take your turn.
this is also a game where the Tricky CPU just blatantly cheats and will roll perfectly to get exactly where they need.
traditionally, its the game that gives the hammers to the players, who pulverize EACHOTHER'S kneecaps for the audacity for daring to take their turn. but John is against 3 AI so.....
It's crazy that John would have avoided ALL of this if he had just recommended regular Fear and Hunger not Terror and Starvation mode from jump 😭
Unfortunately I think the only real way to have avoided the escalation so quickly was to actually make it to that fighting game tournament.

John still could have avoided it if hadn't combo-broken Inscryption, he didn't beat that game, so combo-breaking on it was a choice, that's what put Woolie in the corner.
He is learning the true Fear and Hunger now.
It's an interesting dynamic where John constantly supplies Woolie with unique and worthwhile life experiences and Wollie responds by tormenting John in a Kafka-esque cyclical hellscape.
John started this series with fear and hunger in terror in starvation, the same episode he failed to do woolie's unique and worthwhile experience.
This is a hell of his own making.

@@thewintersaint Not to complete it, only to encounter the Crow Mauler, which is possible very early. It's a pretty reasonable expectation, could take anywhere from 2-5 hours even in Starvation.

Unfortunately for John the only way to find enjoyment in this game is to first let spite into your heart. His plan was flawed from the start.

DOKAPON KINGDOM!????! OH MY GOD!!! That game used to be my favorite, it was like Mario Party woth some lite RPG elements sprinkled on top. Way back in highschool and college I got not only my future wide ans my brother totally addicted to it as well as my entire extracurricular friend group! There was a couple months where it was nearly wll we did! Nice to see somebody else remember it every once-in-a-while. Thanks, Patchy!

It was a wild coincidence for me that the day after playing dokapon kingdom with the pals all day for the first time was the day before I listened to the recent episode. I had the clearest possible idea of the impending suffering.

Jokes about the torment of Dokapon's sneaky AI aside. The concept of Dokapon Kingdom is EXTREMELY cool, it is actually one of my maybe top 25 games of all time. If you can find a group with the right mindset willing to work through a full story campaign, it is awesome. Just slowly building this story between you and your friends with the surprisingly tense combat encounters. I genuinely think this game is really cool, even if some parts are...

I think John might be missing out on some of the experience playing this alone.
You didn’t recommend fear and hunger John, you recommended Terror and Starvation, and pointed an Omicron shaped gun at the man despite as per rules of the podcast (completion is not required), him having already experienced it.
I'm a genuine fan of this game and was so excited when Woolie did an LP with friends.
I'm super torn on whether I'd have preferred Woolie stipulate that that Jon had to play with at least 2 friends who have also never played before (with no CPU's) as I do think that is maybe the best way to experience Dokapon the first time.
but playing with 3 sneaky CPU's is definitely the most "trial by fire" the game can possible give, and is going to be incredibly funny.
Will have to try join in on the next stream (assuming there is one I'm commenting before having watched the full episode)
