Yes it was a really great scene. The other line that really stood out for me was when Jesus asked (paraphrasing here) if he didn’t do this “big thing” Judas was expecting - would he still believe… that also seems to be something Jesus is asking all of us. If God doesn’t answer in the way we want, or delays in answering, or has another plan completely… will we still commit to believing in Him?

It’s also what this series does with all the disciples (after season 4). The signs and miracles are for other people and the disciples' faith is tested when they do not get the things they so desperately wish for. Even though the specific stories aren’t biblical, that message is deep and hits hard.

What happens after I die is a mystery to me. My focus is on the fact that God is the only one I trust with my heart, my mind, and my soul. I find comfort in knowing I belong to our Father in heaven, and He completes me in my mortal life here on earth and that in itself is a real blessing. His grace and gift of salvation is a bonus. ❤🙌🕊️

I think you have to look at the story line of Judas as a whole and in light of Scripture, then relate to it as a mirror or insight into ourselves and our motives, etc. That scene spoke to me and caused me to examine myself about where I am and or how I am feeling about the disappointments of life. It caused me to take a moment or two ant my own heart. Where in my heart have I shut down, like Judas when he stood up to leave and then stormed out and slammed the door. We understand that these are creative backstories but all of it, the whole series is very anointed. I cried through the entire four seasons in light of my life and what I know about, and, of Jesus. I remembered His love and compassion. In this scene with Judas, I thought of the many times, I wanted Jesus to do it my way. To answer my prayers my way. I remembered as a very young woman, the very first Scripture I heard in my spirit was when Jesus said, “The devil desires to sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you.” Isn’t it like this? We encounter things we don’t understand, we have feelings about it, but we are saved because Jesus prayed for us. This scene is for all of us. I pray that The Chosen continues to hear God in this project and may the Lord’s Name be glorified forever, which He said that it will.

One of the (many powerful) comments that really stood out was when Judas said "if I am no use to your Kingdom, then I am nothing." That really spoke deeply to how I view what I assume God has called me to do. Yet another layer of surrender to His perfect will and plan. I should not become too focused on the agenda at the expense of listening to His leading through His word.

I was watching a video of scholars discussing the gospels. One brought up how people don’t think their job is important, and are always seeking something bigger, better, rather than doing their “small” job really well. They were discussing John the Baptist, whose job was NOT to be the Messiah, but so important anyway. One brought up how kids, when asked what they want to be when they grow up, will say, “famous”. For what, they don’t care.
Judas’ line that you brought up reminded me of that.

Judas is an outsider in the Chosen. He did not know anyone in the group. Being from Kerioth would not matter to the Disciples or Jesus. Jesus was from Nazareth [can anything good come from Nazareth] so that did not matter to anyone. Jesus was not blind to Judas' betrayal. Jesus knew who it would be. Jesus had an ancestor from Moab, her name was Ruth if you had forgotten.

Jesus knew that Judas was going to betray Him, that's why He says in John 6
"Did i not choose you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil? That isn't to say that Jesus wasn't willing to give Judas another chance to repent because He was. For Judas, I don't think that it was all about the money. It was a nice compensation, but Judas wanted Jesus to claim His Davidic birthright not in "The sweet by and by," but now. I believe that Judas believed that the only way to get Jesus to act was to force Jesus's hand. "Once He feels the Roman sword at His throat, He will strike them down. With a wave of one arm." (Rip Torn as Judas of Kerioth in the 1961 mgm film King of Kings) Whether it was for the money, or forcing Jesus to usher the Kingdom of Heaven in now instead of later, Judas's plan horribly backfires, and early in the morning he ultimately hangs himself.

    • @michaelbarone9836
      @michaelbarone9836 Месяц назад +3

I think you’re right. Judas was frustrated with Jesus. I wonder about two other aspects. Was Judas stealing from the purse a reaction to Jesus’ increasing predictions of His own death? Also a couple of the gospels indicate the final straw is the aftermath of Jesus’ anointing by the woman and Jesus rebuke of Judas rather than the woman who applied the extravagant gift of perfume, and then Jesus mentions again His impending death.

The Chosen seems to continually do this sort of stuff just to stir up the controversy. It's as if they take something and deliberately present it in a subtle way that they know will cause an uproar, but they can easily backpedal on and say, no you've misunderstood what the scene or dialogue actually means. Obviously I don't know if they have done this intentionally or not, I'm just saying that it's beginning to appear as such. So if nothing else, it's probably something that they should be taking extra care to avoid.
This happened with the whole scene that initially suggested some validity to the gospel of Mary last season. Of course then at the end of the episode they played it off as though this was just some other lost writing of Mary Magdalene that no one knows about anymore. Why even do that at all though? What was the need to depict any writings of Mary at all, if not just to stir up the controversy that it was sure to incite?

    This was written about Judas:
    Zechariah 11:4-16 NIV
This is what the Lord my God says: “Shepherd the flock marked for slaughter. [5] Their buyers slaughter them and go unpunished. Those who sell them say, 'Praise the Lord, I am rich!' Their own shepherds do not spare them. [6] For I will no longer have pity on the people of the land,” declares the Lord. “I will give everyone into the hands of their neighbors and their king. They will devastate the land, and I will not rescue anyone from their hands.” [7] So I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter, particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock. [8] In one month I got rid of the three shepherds. The flock detested me, and I grew weary of them [9] and said, “I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish. Let those who are left eat one another's flesh.” [10] Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. [11] It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the Lord. [12] I told them, “If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.” So they paid me thirty pieces of silver. [13] And the Lord said to me, “Throw it to the potter”---the handsome price at which they valued me! So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the potter at the house of the Lord. [14] Then I broke my second staff called Union, breaking the family bond between Judah and Israel. [15] Then the Lord said to me, “Take again the equipment of a foolish shepherd. [16] For I am going to raise up a shepherd over the land who will not care for the lost, or seek the young, or heal the injured, or feed the healthy, but will eat the meat of the choice sheep, tearing off their hooves.

It is the largest crowd funded television series in history and when a history channel on normal TV picks it up, when I see seasons, one through three in my local library, that tells me that there is a wave of Christ’s story that is sweeping the world now And I thank God for it because people need to know the truth!

I know no better than anytime Judas' motivations and thoughts. He saw the Jewish leaders betray Jesus as well, and tried to rescind his payment for services. We see his plea for justice and even forgiveness. Still, when all the Apostles are named in the gospels, Judas Iscariot is always last and they add that he betrayed Jesus. Finally, Judas hung himself just a couple short days before Jesus would have totally forgiven him. He took justice into own hands and opted for self damnation. How sad!

@davidstoeckl6439 Judas was ordained to carry out the task that he had, he was the son of perdition (in a sense) and he could not do anything other than what God had determined to happen. This whole story of life isn't about us, it's about God. Even well meaning Christians have a hard time coming to grips that the Bible is not about them, the universe doesn't revolve around them and they aren't the main character with God playing a backup role just meekly trying to save everyone he can.b

the trouble is no one can truly say they would coz who can truly live like Jesus lived with the level of faith he had? a homeless wanderer who truly trusts their life to God to the point they would be able to trust their living provisions on the charity and gratitude of others they teach and help instead of an earned income with a comfy lifestyle for the rest of their life.
Jesus told his disciples to go out in pairs with literally nothing for a short period (what was it a few days, weeks?) to demonstrate that life.
they learned first hand how to do it and it wasn't easy. but can anyone today do it? give up EVERYTHING, just walk out of their house, leave their family, with nothing but the cloths on their back and never turn back? very few would have the courage and the strength to do it for their entire lives especially if they knew they may die at the hands of haters who oppose them. even monks can't say they could do it coz how many times have you seen a monk on the street preaching from the bible? no they stay comfortably hidden in monasteries.
Judas knew this was the life he was being trained to live but he wasn't strong enough for it. his fear, ambition and love of money drove him to oppose his teacher. he wanted to be the right hand man of an earthly king here on earth. he couldn't understand it was about the spiritual realm not this one. and that's the problem with many people they say they believe but when it comes to the test of practicing they shrink coz they FEAR disapproval, embarrassment, starvation, the pain of struggling in the cold and wet, living out of the trash if necessary, not feeling secure in a comfortable house not having family surrounding them...etc

Good point about Judas choice. He was loved and predestined to be chosen by Jesus just like has chosen us his elect.
But he has not just fallen for the sin of loving of money as he started to take some from the money.
His love of money caused him to reject the love of Jesus.
As Jesus warns us, a kingdom divided against itself cannot stand, that's why it's called the sin of blasphemy. He became an enemy of christ rejecting the work of the holy spirit.
One day the dead will rise but there is no salvation for those who who have rejected the knowledge of Christ.
You are not once saved always saved, perseverance is required for the elect.
One sin won't cause your fall, but if you don't repent and let your love of Christ grow cold Satan will eventually enter your heart just like he did with Judas.
Same happened to Ravi Zacharias for his sexual desires. He will not be saved. Dont follow the path of Judas.
Pray and persevere until the end.

Judas was not bad guy ! in his faith messie should be the hand of god himself . The worsted people was infront of Jesus shouting to crucify him and save Barabas. And the top ones the priests who asked the die of the messie.

The Chosen does say Judas is from Kerioth. Praise the Lord for the show, it's bringing millions to Our Lord. If you disagree, that's fine. please have tact and not click bait to draw people into arguments. We are all God's children! The other side tries to divide...

What we can take away from this scene is that Judas Iscariot decided to betray Jesus because Jesus wasn’t going to be the military Messiah Judas and every Jew of his time wanted the Messiah to be

You people are so lost. Read The Bible. A TV Show is of man not God. Dallas is under the impression that Christ & God are not one and the same. He is wrong. Jesus was not a lowly human. He was God manifest.

The Chosen strays from scripture often.
70 Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” 71 He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon,

This show makes The Gospel of Jesus Christ and Him crucified for sinners mere entertainment and that is so very sad. How can so many christians not see it?
How can a sinful man (the actor) even begin to try to conceptualize or "do justice" to the infinitely worthy and holy character and Word of God in human form Jesus Christ? This show is blasphemy, palpable and entertaining blasphemy. Do not look to it as something to expound the scriptures or deepen your relationship with Christ, only dedicated time in prayer and actually reading His word can do that. Do not let yourselves be deceived; This show is a mockery, nothing more.
