Oh man these were classic comedy gold! To answer your question Rebecca I prefer when they're in on the joke. Can't wait to see what kind of roasting we may see at today's Oscar's
I prefer the "in on the joke" Roast rather than the "Zinger" type ( intended to get a "self promotional laugh" at the expense of cruelly embarrassing another guest on painful subjects). Why be cruel/vicious at someone else's expense? Does TV need to internationally sensationalize at the expense of the recipient. If the recepient is in on the joke, they are prepared and add a "zing" or two on themselves. In the Psychology of Humor or Psychology of Laughter, it is noted that there are different types of humor with different intent and different audiences. "In your face" exposure humor is not for everyone. Also, these roaster/comedians who are usually very talented could have (by tone, inflection, giggle and word-change) been more entertaining. I cannot wonder if the cruel jokes on some were meant to reach the tabled audience or if the Speakers entertained themselves (as audience) thereby serving up a poorly executed "warm dinner" for a number of guests with varing appetites. To me, it seemed like the Cook smuggly force-fed the Guests (and underestimated the reception). Really, the intent of the "Roast" (word based on cooking terminology) is different from "Deep Fry", "Scorch" or "Burn To a Crisp - Render Useless". Why not "Roast" as classy as the earlier generations did rather than "Destroy the Dinner"? In earlier generations, it seemed like everyone laughed at the loving Roasts. By the expressions in some recipient and audience faces here I see shock, dismay and embarrassment. Some shocked "guests" at the Roast looked like they wanted to crawl under the proverbial table! Going back to "word play" is this the intent of a so- called Classy Host or Feat? In varying the theme here and going with hypercritical or sarcarstic humor (think Joan Rivers or Don Rickles), the show could be renamed "Shock Theater (joke)". Many Thanks. Best and warmest regards to all. 2/11/20. ❤
No, that was pure cringe. For Ricky, not the audience. He evidently forgot that he himself is a “Hollywood liberal”. And that he heard all the rumors about the people like Weinstein for years, and just like the people he attacked did nothing to stop them.
My favorite is when Ben Affleck won Best Director and the camera cuts to Quieten Tarantino spitting his drink out in disbelief. (I know they are separate clips but the first time I saw it I thought it was hilarious)
I promise you, the joke is much funnier and lands significantly better from the person telling it and not you. Your job is to introduce the clip, not spoil it before it plays good lord.
Tina Fey is delivering her line, mojo host overdubs saying the next line, then back to Tina Fey delivering the same line. It’s like that drunk friend who always steals the lime light by finishing every ones joke.
I'm not a big Ricky Gervais fan, but I admire his steel balls. Him and Jimmy Carr are monsters when it comes to insults. I honestly think Carr could be more savage.
I cannot watch this, the voice-over telling the jokes before the jokes is the most irritating thing I've encountered in a long long time... please change the format for comedy
Yes, not to mention telling us what all the people are thinking which in each case is clearly NOT what the people are thinking. How can someone be so tone-deaf, unable to read the room, all that shit, etc.
I got respect for George Clooney by being such a good sport and taking that roast so gracefully. Also got respect for that lady actress by being based when she roasted Clooney.
Well he is the guy who plays him in the movie and most actors just play themselves no matter the role(besides a few good actors) these days so you are pretty much stating the obvious, you know how you know when an actor is actually acting you dont make these comments because they are nothing like the character they are playing ie: Heath Ledger - Joker,
The best joke from Tina-Amy's Golden Globe is actually about Kathryn Bigelow, Zero Dark Thirty, her 3 years marriage with James Cameron and his torturous temperament.

This youtube channel needs to be in a cringe list. Maybe by Buzzfeed since both spend the same amount of time copy pasting lists.

You know what makes a joke even better? Having the narrator tell you it and explain it to you right before you hear it. lol
You can’t tell the joke before the comedian
This should just be Ricky Gervais 10 best burns
Mr. Arya Stark they already did this so they had to change the title of the video
Here you go Top 10 Savage Ricky Gervais Insults ruclips.net/video/Sogwg6tTP_k/видео.html
@Ricky May Get well soon Aw diddums snowflake
Ricky May Get well soon LOL cry about it you simpleton
i was going to make the same comment lol
Ricky Gervais burned an entire room at this years awards show. That should have been number one

Tarantino spit his drink when his own name was announced as a nominee (a self-deprecating joke), just before Affleck was named as the winner.
Quentin, not quieten.
@@Rocky64 when did this happened?
Rocky64 hes a trash ass director tho
@@wherethehoochiesat4210 both are great directors.
Obviously the best one is when Ricky takes a dig at Epstein and says “I know he was your friend” but I guess that insulted the whole industry.

Spot on Logan.
This channel is seriously slipping lately. I have no idea why I still watch it.. Lol. 😂
@@VicenzoV Actually, most people watching this DON'T know a lot of these, that's why they're watching itt
Yes, true true
yup. a video for people too dumb to understand jokes.
So LAME how the narrator HAS to say Exactly what the person is about to say, verbatim! Maybe just let the frigging clip play, allude to it at most.
Meanwhile Isaak Kappy is killed for naming Hollywood paedophiles.
Yea its kinda defeats the purpose if they had to explain the joke. WATCHMOJO .
Pointless video, just watch the video of Ricky's speech instead!
Tina Fey is delivering her line, mojo host overdubs saying the next line, then back to Tina Fey delivering the same line. It’s like that drunk friend who always steals the lime light by finishing every ones joke.
Ricky being nervous? Not at all, he knew what he was doing ;)
I noticed your a fan of Fallout 🫠
I'm not a big Ricky Gervais fan, but I admire his steel balls.
Him and Jimmy Carr are monsters when it comes to insults. I honestly think Carr could be more savage.
He's a pretty big snowflake though. He can give but not take.
The Comfy Geek love Jimmy Carr seen his show quite a few times.
And anthony jeselnik
Dustin Smith wtf you waffling about?? Both gervais and carr can take insults
@Prince Veggetta hey chomo, fan is short for fanatic. So yes you can admire things about someone without being a fan of theirs.
"You like Adele song but find them too upbeat...Sam Smith will be performing." LOL!!
Celebrity: **breathes**
Ricky Gervais: R O A S T
Tina and Amy roasting George Clooney is by far my favourite. Both times
If anyone can be a headless celebrity (like in Futurama), I want it to be Ricky Gervais roasting people until the end of time
Surely you mean head only celebrity?!

This wasn't cringe. This was funny. If you're cringing, roasts aren't for you.

Can you, please, tell we who that was about? I have no idea!

Ricky's Joe Pesci joke was okay, but we all know that wasnt his best roast that night lol
Ricky gervais said nothing but facts
Someone decided that explaining the roasts before showing them was a good idea.
That someone was absolutely wrong.
Explains the bits and basically quoting the bits before showing the clips....takes away from the actual clip. Ugh. Why am I still subbed?
HurriShane00 I’m not. Oh wait dammit I am, hold up fixed.
Best part is Joaquin Phoenix at 8:16 being the only one not to react to the jab😂
SHOW NOTE. Maybe don’t read the “burn” exactly right before the playing the clip. What sense does that make? Dumbfounded.
I wanted to write exactly the same!
I caught that as well. Terrible.
No one can roast celebrities as good as Ricky Gervais
That's just because Greg Giraldo's dead.
4:46 - that is just amazing stage presence and joke delivery, Ricky is never nervous!
Y’all missing Peyton Manning from the espys when he roasted Kevin Durant
Now my interest is piqued; I shall search for this on RUclips, friend.
RDJ never knew how to deal openly with his past in public. And its ok. Its his life. But it shows his limitations of using humor as a reconciliation
What i really like about this video is how you tell me the joke right before playing the clip of the joke, it doesn't ruin the punchline at all!
Please quit Quoting the jokes before the jokes are told. Thank you.

Wondering if they're going to be bold enough to mention Chris Rock going at R. Kelly or 50 Cent when he hosted the VMA's. Those were savage!!!!!
This whole top 10 should just be rocky gervais. He destroyed everyone in that room, every year
The year Seth MacFarlane hosted the Oscars should have provided some great clips. It was the only time I watched the whole thing and never got bored.
Johnny deep got his revenge on Ricky

You mean when he read the script written by Ricky Gervais? The script that made Depp look like a shallow, petty, whiny little child? Ok.
I never realized how much some of these Hollywood people are living in their own little world.
I think the best would be Gervais' roast about Judi Dench. That was insane.
Ok but like was I the only one waiting for when Michael Jackson called out his brother Jermaine at the Grammys lol
Love him or hate him, Ricky doesn't give a fuck 😂
