Learn how to remove, rebuild and replace the carburetor on 2005-2007 Suzuki Eiger 400. tear down, together, not starting, no start, fuel, step-by-step, leak, leaking, air
The mixture screw is under the brass cap at 17:50 between his thumb and pointer finger. I had to use a tiny screw driver to remove the cap and underneath the cap voila, the mixture screw.
Thanks for the excellent video! Mine is flooding with gas and leaking... probably the float or float valve. I pulled the tank yesterday. Now I know how to get into it and rebuild the carburetor!
Informative video, I wish you would have showed where all the hoses went/came off of. just did my carb in ultrasonic tank, worked great: thanks for the vid!.
I have bought 3 new carbs from Amazon and can't get them to run right! From flooding to not idling or flooding after warming up. At a loss. Where can I find a better carburetor other than Amazon?
Hi I have an identical model, are there particular setting for any of those jets you removed. Mine wont even start now. Thanks in advance, glad I found your channel
Make sure you are getting fuel into the bowl. Open the drain and see if gas comes out. If not, check if the fuel petcock on the bottom of the tank is on and there is plenty of gas in the tank.
If you don't mind me asking. have you ever come across the Issue where the air filter compartment filled up with gas. If so what did you find to be the cause?
Most likely a float valve needle stuck open. If tapping the carburetor with a wooden handle doesn't fix the problem, You will need to open up the carburetor and clean it out.
the most difficult part of this process was the removal and reinstallation of the choke (especially reinstallation). that 14mm nut is in such a tough spot to turn, even with needle nose. also, i still cannot find the mixture screw. i THINK i know where it's located based on Brent's post, but i cannot find any small brass cap that can be removed.
it NOT inside the float bowl and it protrudes down from the bottom of the carb on the engine side of the carb. it might not be brass. but it is a plug that is pressed in and needs to be drilled out with small drill bit and then put a screw into it and pry it out. at 17:50 it is the furthest to the right, protruding up, between his thumb and finger. doesn't look brass in this video, but it is the round plug inside the little tower sticking up (sticking down when cab is installed)
Curious as to what parts you replaced ... I saw the pieces laying out and you referred to some parts as will or will not replace, but I never saw what was actually replaced. Also, I need to replace my carb entirely (same exact Suzuki quad) ... do you recommend a specific carb? Great video, thanks!
Everything that comes in the rebuild kit gets replaced on the carb. The screw on jets, the mixture screw if you can find it under the cap, the float valve, the bowl gasket, etc. I prefer partzilla for my japanese small engine parts or check with the dealer.
You say that but my whole point in watching the video was to see where you put the bigger o ring in rebuild kit but you didn’t use it for anything? So wasted my time to answer nothing. Looking at the carb diagrams the only place it seems it could go is inside the cavity for the choke but I’m not certain, it would be nice to know
Just so you know in case you were confused he put the screw back in the battery is because theres a little square bolt in there and if your not careful itll fall out and its a bitch to get back in
@@atvsanonymous Since you found the carb to be gummed up by really old gas, it probably would have been good practice. Besides, it's really easy to do. On another note. A big bowl of gas used as cleaning solvent really isn't a good practice. (just something to think about). Overall a very helpful video.
1.5 turns for most carbs, but you can use a vacuum gage on the intake to get it right. Make sure engine is warm and on the regular idle screw, then turn the mixture screw in and then turn out until vacuum stops rising.

You are a carburetor wizard! TY so much as I now have confidence to do my own.
Thanks!

Yes, Chinese are junk. So you could probably look on eBay for a used factory one and rebuild it with a good kit like "all balls"

@@atvsanonymous Thanks alot!! I swear it is indeed a problem with the tank petcock!
Shouldn't be too hard to replace. Just empty the tank and unscrew from the bottom. Make sure to replace the gasket that goes with it.

Did they leave Ethanol gas in the tank? Nice repair detail.
Thanks! Yes, I believe so. Amazing how few people know how bad ethanol gas is for carburetors.

Where did the rebuild kit come from?
I think I found it on eBay
How many turns out on the air/fuel screw with a spring at the bottom

Just wondering why you didn’t clean the fuel petcock while you had the tank drained?
I didn't see any sediment in the tank and it was draining freely. I didn't see a need to clean it.

Is there a part number on the peace that the seat latches too? Mine is gone I've been using a bungee strap to hold it down for a year.
I would check on partzilla.com

do you know the stock setting for the ideal mixture screw?
