BRAVO! Thank you Dan for the request - what an awesome arrangement for a great movie. Saw "A Fist Full of Dollars" "For a Few Dollars More", "Hang'em High" and the best of all - The Good, The Band and The Ugly." I get chills every time I hear this. The Danish National Symphony Orchestra also did an arrangement for Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" in 2006 and it is stunning! What a great ending to my day. Thank you Don for a fantastic reaction - especially not having seen the movie! Haunting melody, made more so with the Symphony Orchestra! A 10+ is my rating!

This is an amazing performance. And one of the most iconic songs in the western movie genre, if not all genres. Ecstacy of Gold by Ennio Morricone who, i believe, was the composer wrote it for the movie The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly starring Clint Eastwood back in the 60's spaghetti westerns.

Wow, Don, I'm pleasantly surprised to see this great video reacted to on the channel. The movie is my favorite western along with "Once Upon a Time in the West" (by the same Italian director, Sergio Leone). Clint Eastwood was my favorite western movie actor growing up. Watched this movie probably 75 times or more throughout my life. It's just one of those I can watch over and over again. And I've watched this performance of the song by the Danish National Symphony orchestra many times. It never gets old! One of the more popular videos and for good reason. Their performance of this classic is awesome! Thanks for the great reaction Don! And thanks Dan for the request.

The conductor, Sarah Hicks is the Principal Conductor with the Milwaukee Orchestra and she also is sought after as a "Guest Conductor" around the world, as she was here. It was Sarah that put this concert together, chose the music, went through ALL of the individual sheets of music making notes to the musicians, then rehearsing them to prepare for this concert. The entire concert is available on DVD and I bought it! She is quite an incredible individual leading quite an incredible group of "top Tier" musicians! The DVD is great!

Always fun to watch a reaction to this amazing piece. The hanging dummy and the Clint Eastwood image are references to the movie. There are two kinds of people…those who have seen it and those who have not… (see the movie to understand this one.). There are two selections from the score: the main title and Ecstasy of Gold. Thanks for your effort and time to produce this fine react…keep’em coming!!

🇨🇦 Okay, the DNSO has over 100 musicians and over 70 Choir members !
The Conductor (Lady waving the baton) does most, if not all, of the arrangements, and that means the arrangements for all the instruments !
The 'clarinet' was in fact an Obo ! Another was the Tubular Bells, and the clapping of the two planks was to simulate the cracking of the whip from the Movie ! And the figure hanging from the rafters was an amusing reference to the theme of the Movie ! You really should see the Movie !

Thanks Dan for this brilliant request! I never would have thought of it for the channel, but it really works - it's so magnificent. About Don's comments on the orchestration: I heard Ian Tyson in concert when he was singing his songs with the Calgary Symphony Orchestra. During the concert he said that writing the orchestration, by true professionals at this, was the most time consuming and expensive part of the whole performance. And Ian's songs are not complex by most standards, so it gives us an idea of what it takes. I have the utmost respect for musicians and truly appreciate their contribution to our lives. Thanks Don for the excellent reaction and the super rating!!!

Spaghetti Westerns aren't really my cup of tea. Maybe because the local TV stations edited them so much. And try complex to figure out complicated noir plots when they are cut up to fit in commercials! And since the films were available uncut more and more over the last couple of decades I really love film noir now that can see that they do make sense. I've tried to give the spaghettis a fair chance but nope.
However, there was a Top 40 pop recording of this song that was actually very good.
