@@GravelordNEETo it's a "Dualist" base pedal. A foot lever on the side changes what mode it operates with. Single pedal mode just acts like a regular pedal.
Dualist mode engages the second beater head to strike as the primary is coming back. It's much trickier than you'd think it would be to get it sounding even volume and consistnat haha
There are plenty of drummer review videos on it to watch and a lot of them are pretty funny watching experienced drummers fail to get it working haha
Stephen Morris is a known beast, but he sequenced this on a drum machine, and i wonder if he himself coulda pulled it off on his kit at tempo, even in his youth...

Damn, I haven't heard that rhythm since I was in teen clubs in the mid to late 80's. You know back in my day we had to walk to school uphill both ways and we only had three tv stations. lmao
I was 10 when this was released, 1983 I think, loved it then, love it now. Never did I think however, at 50 years old I'd be sat at my desk here listening to this trying to replicate footwork, my ageing legs are a right mess, I'm surprised I've not broken them.

I feel like the duelist pedal was made for this tune. You're one of the only ones to really be musical with the pedal as well.
I'm an 80's kid and love the original, but once the Orgy version came out in '99 - it absolutely blew me away and became one of my faves that I still listen to almost every day.

Bro...the anniversary of my older brothers passing was a couple weeks ago, he passed in '96 when I was 16 and I been thinking of him a lot lately. He was all about 80's music with records and cassettes, always playing something loud upstairs and even made a disco ball of an old globe and small mirror sheets. This just put a solid smile on me man. This is one of my fave 80s songs cause of my brothers influence....thanks for this. ❤

He did a video on it but I don't have a link or remeber exactly when.
If you watch ONLY his right foot (because there's so much going on of course😄), there's a lever on the right side of the base of the pedal and a lever on the left.
It's very subtle but he uses his heel to activate these levers which engage and disengage the double pedal feature.
When disengaged, the pedal acts as a single pedal.
When engaged, the pedal has a strike on the press of the pedal and a second strike on the release of the pedal.
I'm not a drummer but it's always been my favorite instrument and I also love mechanics.
I could be incorrect somewhere in there and if I am I welcome correction. Otherwise, I hope this helps.

Being born in the 70's growing up and discovering music in the '80's, Blue Monday by New Order is by far one of the best tracks (absolutely the best beat) to come out of the '80's. Still love it to this day.
