I have a good friend that is a drummer, black metal/heavy metal. He read a study that drummers often is compared to professional athletes when it comes to endurance. I can tell, because he is also in great shape, like El Estepario Siberiano ;)
My favorite thing about this guy is that he is able to play with such a high level of technique while still making listenable drum tracks. Some drummers are so technical it just ends up sounding like impressive noise.

I mainly work programming drums for bands that can't record a drummer or that can't get a good sound and I always receive the same comments "that's imposible, a drummer cannot play that!!!" i think they’re more worried about finding a drummer that can for live shows lol. i get it because i played drums my whole life and recently started playing guitar and singing so all of our recorded drum parts are me and so live we struggle to find any drummers that will play the part lol

My organs failed and I was pronounced dead 7 months ago. Somehow I came back to life. It took a long time to walk again. I lost everything, including my drum kit. I watched your videos, and air drummed to them. Of course, no where near accuracy. But it was something I could do to get my strength back. Every video I see of yours I can't help but get my feet going to a double kick, and my arms flailing like I'm hitting the snare and cymbals and toms. I'm happy to say I've recovered. No one knows why. But I do. I got my strength back just doing my best to halfway imitate you. Thank you. You helped save my life. No bullshit. I hope you see this. I mean it.

I have played drums since I was 6 years old so I can clearly confirm this man is what you get when you really hang into something and try to get better every single day ! And even if he does not believe in it he has to have a decent amount of talent but still talent is not a vip ticket to getting this good. You have to put everything in it!
I have also played since I was 6 and can play pretty much anything at this point being 34, but this guy has some of the best improv grooves and fills. Such a talent, and you're right, if you stick with something for the years that it takes to get good you can really enjoy the passion of it

I've always had a nack for rhythm, and as a guitarist always loved drummers who play to the music like Jimmy Chamberlain, Dave Grohl or Joey Jordison. Thankfully, this is a free world and it doesn't have to be an authentic recreation!
