    “I went into this book expecting some ritualistic human sacrifice and that’s not what ******* happen” says totally disappointed and offended, and I get him.
    This made me think about that one time I almost bought “fifty shades of gray” thinking it was a thriller. Somehow I managed to live without hearing about this insult to literature and when I saw the cover and the title my brain somehow associated it with something dark. Thankfully I decided to read the synopsis and put the book back completely mortified 🤦🏼‍♀️

    you would think that someone with the self awareness to know that characters being underaged is going to cross a line for people (shocker), as well as needing to villainize a character displaying common sense and decency, would have the self awareness not to write this at all.

      FACTS. 💯

    • @aquamarinerose5405
      @aquamarinerose5405 Год назад +3

      For me that question of "Self-awareness" on my own end is a weird sense that they know how controversial this is, and how many people are gonna hate it, and the fact that a LOT of people would be rooting for the mother because the story just doesn't stand up to scrutiny in the slightest.
      Like, where not even the Underage or the Incest being the part that makes me question "why even write it", as much as "if you know that your 'villain' is basically the morally correct one so hard that you have to add a plot twist where she poisons her own son for now reason, then maybe you have a problem with your core premise". Like, okay, fine. Someone wants to write a romance between siblings, or between 2 teenagers? or two teenagers that are also siblings? I feel like I ought to throw my hands up and say that's their prerogative. Yet, needing to add such a massive, comically massive twist to your story because you suddenly realize that your audience is more likely to root for the concerned parent calling CPS rather than the Pseudo-Incestuous Pedophilie Stepdad that you want them to root for, then... Maybe you should go back to your core premise and iron out the kinks instead of going off on a massive ridiculous twist to villainize the mother in the last 200 pages, and then have 3 whole chapters dedicated purely to having the throuple screwing.

      It’s thoroughly explained in the book that he knows she has nothing and likely only wants his money, but he wants to help them any way he can and is willing to deal with an imperfect relationship to help her struggling sons. He hates how she treats them and wants to be a supportive father figure for them. For months while they’re together, he does have a fatherly relationship with them however the (good) twin has developed a crush on him based off his looks and many shared interests. Tauren’s gay experience in the past, and the odd lingering/physical tension with the one (good) twin is what starts to trigger something deep down within him, and when the (bad) twin noticed the tension and got jealous, he immediately did the swap and tried to flirt with once and then later seduce the stepdad which worked (with some resistance from Tauren, who acknowledges it’s wrong for multiple reasons) and then it all escalated from there once the mom left town.

    I had never heard of this book. I was curious (before I found out what the plot was) and Amazon no longer offers it. How many people who are outraged about this book liked Lolita. Also, 600 pages? Nope on so many levels. I’d rather read Cows again. Maybe even The Groomer; and that one wrecked me for horror novels for awhile.

      I don't leave comments on RUclips because it's under my real name, but, hey hey hey! _Lolita_ is a psychological character study written by a literary master and _Double Edged_ is a dark romance written by a BookTokker. If you think _Lolita_ is A.) a romance and B.) remotely comparable to _Double Edged,_ you need to read more critically.
      Edit: I bolded instead of italicized the book titles, so I corrected that.

    I just read this book and it was excellent. It was taboo, yes, but it appeals to REAL fetishes people actually have (no matter how yucky you think it may be) and it thoroughly explains the relationship between the twins and why they feel the way they do and do the things they do, and while I may not personally agree with it, I understand it. I understand their feelings, I get how such a crazy wild thing could seem “okay” even though it really isn’t. Incest has existed (forever) and is really only shamed bc of health problems with incestuous procreation, which obviously can’t happen with male twins. No im still not saying it’s okay, but it’s not AS bad as a brother sister relationship. Also, they’re “underage” at the wild age of 17. In today’s day and age that’s hardly even an issue and happens 24/7 with consenting relationships. There’s so much drama, mental health awareness, love, heartbreak, so much stuff in this book and I absolutely loved it and wish there was a sequel of some sort.

    • @anothey93
      @anothey93 Год назад

      Also, the real mom and real dad were the bad people in this story. The dad was physically and emotionally abusive and a financial criminal. The mom always hated 1 twin since he was rebellious and artificially loved the other since he was so smart and could provide for her later in life (it’s mentioned multiple times). The parents are directly the reason these twins had issues and unnatural feelings for one another. They only had each other to actually love/feel love from and that blossomed into something it shouldn’t have. Some of your details about the story were a little mixed up but that’s okay, however you left out the mom getting BIDS to sell the sex tape of Tauren and her “underage” son, which was discovered before the therapist bribing plot twist. This would hurt both twins as in the video it appears to be Cyrus (her precious future piggy bank child) but it’s actually Colson pretending to be him. So then we find out about the mom drugging Colson on purpose to hopefully eventually put him into a coma so he can no longer “hurt his brother” (even though the brothers feelings are mutual) and so Colson attempts suicide since that’s what he feels everyone (his parents) want anyways. Luckily proof of this plan of their parents comes out and gets the mother arrested and the twins are 18 and can do whatever they want. So in the end they get their (complicated) happily ever after being able to be together but also with the man they love (Tauren). So again, Tauren was the savior getting them away from both of their abusive parents which is all they wanted/needed all along, and has Colson seeing a real psychiatrist to help him with his lasting mental issues.

    I find it funny that the author goes out of their way to say "If the 2 weeks bother you, don't read this book" when like... That's not even the problem.
    Like okay, 2 people who are 2 weeks younger than 18 feeling comfortable with each other like whatever, teenagers are gonna experiment and for some that might be a thing to explore in literature... But that's not the part of the book that feels like it should be causing disgust and turning heads. What's WRONG with the story is 2 teenage boys having gay sex with their 40-something year old stepdad. Which honestly, whether they're 17.9 or 18 really doesn't change how wrong that is.
