- Remember Driver?
Remember this intro?
One of the greatest intros for any driving game on the PS1, a good old action packed police chase which is what this games all about !
Driver is one of my all time favourite games on the PS1.
Take a ride anyone?
Enjoy ! - Игры
The sounds of his shoes tapping the ground always satisfied me as a kid
Literally same asf, just now remembered it so I looked it up lol
i thought I was the only one, that is the "ASMR" for me. :D
Until now sir 😊
same for me lol
Same!! Now that I'm finally at the age where I've got a car, I try and replicate this especially in multilevel car parks. Just slowly walk up and then drive it like I stole it.
The absence of dialogue, music, dramatic cuts really adds to the atmosphere ! Even with outdated graphics, still feels real, like a slice of (criminal) life
It's in the style of the 1970s film The Driver starring Ryan O'Neal. Very few words or expressions from the main character. Adopted by Ryan Gosling in the more recent film Drive.
I remember watching this back in the day thinking games will never look as good as the videos. Now they look way better.....
But they suck.
They put more time in the video as in the game😂😂
Yup, we have better graphics but we rarely get the complete package of good music, story and gameplay
Maz2bi "Games sucks now" aka shit i heard the last ten year before people backtrack and talk about the same shit as "underrated gem" a few years later.
As a 5-6 year old I thought that this intro was real recording ...
But today when I look, I see only 3d render ..
In any case, it was fun to play these games once.
They would have given a more realistic feeling
Watching this as a 7 year old car dude left a massive impression on me.
This was my "star wars" moment.
Been a driver fan ever since.
Ditto, even tho Driv3r sucked balls. Great memories of Driver 1. My dad asked me, if it's a video or animated. He was blown away by the graphics of the intro when I showed him.
Facts
What's more awesome for a game fire upper? A completely empty car park of no life apart from the drip of water from a leaky guttering pipe... One guy walks amongst the cold metal of the quiet vehicles....picks out a 1968 Mustang hard top, steals it like a professional...all you hear is the sound of the V8..all that it seems is just quiet and it will be an easy boost. Then he runs into the chugging V8 of a Fairmont Police Cruiser...goes silent....FLOOR IT!
+Falkor The Luck Dragon™ I don't think he steals it ,it's his own car
+kevin Macarry
He clearly hot wires it. Come on man, use your damn head.
Kill Communists
How could I know that, I was a kid when I played this game
Falkor The Luck Dragon™ that 1968 mustang is a beauty
All I wanna know is why the fuck the cop started chasing him in the first place? There's no way the cop knew that mustang was stolen.
The most satisfying V8 rumble I've ever heard to this very day!
still as good as it used to be
What's great is that real engine sounds were recorded for the occasion. The noise at 01:40 still gives me chills!
2:51 for me but damn if the V8 starting up doesn't still make me feel the same way as it did when I was a kid.
@theprisoner
Also a fan of that series...! 10/10
Harness this feeling, and protect it. Before you know the green mobsters will all force us all into electric toasters
Time to get a V8 engine
3:07 You wrecked the car, man!!
Hey man, watch the paint!!
HEY MAN! OK!OK!OK!
You Crazay?!
20 years passed.......it seems like thousand years ago to me. The fun i had with this awsome game!!
As a 20 yo guy that never cries... and watching this from beginning till the end.. i almost dropped one of the nostalgia.. dem sweet sweet childhood memories
Back when games were simple and really good brings back so many memories
I never realized as a kid he was actually stealing the car
Same I always thought it was his car
Bro seriously I’m only realizing now
Yeah lol, I realized he was an outlaw but I always thought that was his car.
Really? Even as a kid I understood it cause he took so long to open the door and did it in a really weird way, why would the cops chase him otherwise as well?
@@henrik1743 because many they thought he looks suspicious
Rule #1 as a driver: allways keep calm and don´t do something stupid.
If he just would have kept it together instead off floring the throttle in a carpark with a cop nearby, maybe....just maybe we could have skipped that damn tutorial at basicly the same place. as a kid it was the hardest thing to do but once you did it, you were all prepared for driving in the wildest way possible. loved it....good memories
M L lol I think he wanted that chase😂
I always thought they recognized him and knew he stole another car
Everything is done right here. From the ominious dark, half-lit garage to the water dripping from the pipes to the sound of his boots resonating against the concrete...The Mustang, that has the most detail just replaces all those sounds, accomponied by sirens wailing.
And yes, I know this is a shot-by-shot recreation of a scene from 'The Driver', but to 12 year old me, it was the most epic thing I'd ever seen.
I remember playing this on my psONE, I have got it as a Christmas gift and the first game I played on it was Driver. Great times!
Gabriel Lima I bet that was so awesome. This was my 4th game but having it be the first would’ve made me do a backflip this game rocks
This Is my favorite game on Ps1 / PSX
Same!
Driver 2 is one of my favorite games of Ps1.
Nostalgia sets in😭😭
+mikeminor357 Oh yes !
dem feels
The sound of the Mustang's V8 snarl was unforgettable. What a sweet ride! ❤
2020 and this game is still brilliant
someone needs to make a live version of this intro
I got a 70 mustang, if my friend comes down with his classic cop car, we’ll try our best 😂
Driver: San Francisco did a live action homage in one of their trailers, but no police car though.
Have you ever watched the 1978 film The Driver? This intro is literally taken from that movie - the whole game is basically a game of that film.
My man, it was done in 1978 ;) it's called Driver, directed by Walter Hill
@@Geral454Fun Fact: if you watch the garage scene when they crash the car, it makes the exact same sound when you crash your car in gameplay
I'm very proud to say I come from the same place they created this game - Newcastle, England.
Such an interesting & quiet video piece that is slow paced yet so satisfying to watch & develop as it rises.
The best intro in the history of the intros
Im really not sure how i met this game, i was born in 2005 and the universe wanted me to play it
NOSTALGIA!!! This just shows how easy those old cars are t break into. 😉
Also, I have a 70s Ford and the door closing sounds exactly the same!
Question at 1:41 is that Engine is V8 with original exhaust? Right cause I wanna get a mustang same one like the blue one
@venom14offRoad Yeah, it sounds like an original v8. Most cars from the 60s are going to sound pretty good as standard. Hope you can get a Mustang. It would be pretty cool to get one in this colour.
@@lukew8034 oh okay cause I want a engine sound like that the way he took off at 1:41
Sound like monster that why I asked if they sound the same
But alright 👌
every time you step into a parking complex underground, you just have to remember this intro lol
I do, I thank my papa rip for buying me most of the games that made my childhood great and fun
I used to play this so much back in 2008 lol. Even then it was pretty old lmao. I had it on my ps2, but I didn’t have a memory card, so every time I booted the game up, I’d always get this nostalgic intro. Good times..
One of the most iconic games of the last gens of PS1
Good old days, me playing this with my dad :)
Same man.
This game was my first game ever i remember it from a guy that reviews driver 1,never thought that the memory will kick in and before i realised,i said to myself"I've seen this intro before" and when i watched the full intro.....it was it...this was the lost game i have been looking for but i didn't knew i was literally watching a review about it.....this intro made love these scenes where the character walks(in a satsifying way) and does his work, this game put me in the high standards of v8deo games, and i am thankful to my dead uncle for making play this game.
I like how the car he steals is the only one that isn't blocky
Wow the footsteps at the beginning such a great feeling to hear it again
It’s so crazy watching this now when I was younger I thought this looked like what games do now. Lol so crazy how when your young you remember things much more vivid then they are
You are right!
At nighttime when I’m walking to my car in my underground parking I’m always reminded of Tanner here!
My parents got me and my brother this game when we turned 11 along with the brand new just released PS1. Days and days of playing and trying to beat the skill requirements. So challenging and rewarding.
Waiting for SFX to be this good in GTA or GTA styled game.
I love how this needs no music to be badass
Brings back memories!
The graphics were top of the line at the time, and we spent many hours racing split screen in the empty city.
I could’ve sword this looked more realistic when I was young and first saw it. Lmao
1999: this is going to be the future of gaming
2020: BrUh
Tellement
I said that when I played Driver 3 and Gta Vice city in 2006. But Watch Dogs has beaten it.
This I believe was my first ever video game that I got on my Playstation One. this whole intro looked so good and maybe a bit darker than this but I absolutely loved it and still do.
Still got this game
I still have it too, and fire it up on my ps2 slim whenever I want
I watched this intro every time as a kid. This was by far my favourite game on Ps1. Man, I miss those days... A remaster of Driver would be awesome
I had this and Driver 2 in about 1999 good times!!
To this day, I can't figure out the police siren used in this clip.
What do you mean
Best game intro ever!
Engine revs at 2:55
The cops chasing you just like that 😂
The game was realistic
For those years, this game had a amazing intro, and even the game graphics was good. I'm proud to been making a Remake ;)
The Driver Syndicate exist.
Wow! Every now and again nostalgia hits me like a truck. Amazing game
Just as intense as the PS1 startup
Still have this game
2:14 i like the motor sound on the cop car (on the exact first part)
Damn it man old memories 😥
This game brings back so many memories to me, I played it for so many hours when I was a kid
Ah so this is why I love old cars
The cop cars engine always reminds me of my dad's 1978 chevy pickup truck so used exactly like it!!💗💗
Like only if you are one of these legends who played this as a kid and enjoyed the sound of the footstep too :D
This scene comunicates perfectly what the game is about. You are not a superdriver, you are fragile and need to take care of yourself while driving
Loved this intro as a kid it always brings back memories
Damn I remember it was around 2001 or 2002 when I got this game brand new for the PC. I've played the shit out of this game since then.
holy shit nostalgia hits different
Even now i know the rhythm and tone of the drops in the beginning off by heart xD
Truly Epic - I grew up playing this game.
This scene absolutely scared me when I was playing with the lights off in my room. Nostalgia 🤘🏻
I Remember this Game I Hope they Make a Remake Sometime in the Future😎👍✌💙💜💖💗
The Driver Syndicate exist.
The sound of the Mustang gives me goosebumps, how beatiful a V8 can sound
i remember the first mission was to make some stunts in the underground parking lot, wasn't easy.
And you realize back in the day vidéo games where much more difficult than contemporary ones...
@@mathlenih4572 It was difficult because:
>The tutorial didn't actually teach you anything
>Used car terms like "Slalom" that most kids didn't understand
>You weren't told that you had to cut the 180° with the handbrake for it to count
>Unless you practiced a lot, the timer was barely enough to do all the things in the list.
And none of these are good reasons, just gatekeeping and fake difficulty.
@@zena2239 and don't forget the reverse 180°.
The timing for the brake check was always a hard one for me. I could do everything else but the brake check. I always ended up hitting the wall, braking too soon, or not getting enough speed.
Dated as it is, this is still pretty solid.
the game that changed gaming forever
The memories
One of the best game intros ever made
Steve Jobs once said that "Imagine a game that's not just like game but more like simulation" This looks like what he was speaking. Pretty realistic for 1999. And he said that in the 80's so he knew where game industry is going. People just played Pacman and shit like that in 80's
dat v8 sound tho!!!!!!
The steps and the sound of water droplets is like burned into my brain lol even the mustang as well. Idk why this has stuck with me lmao😂
Best V8 rumble ever. I wonder which bigblock car they recorded from ?
The ending is hilarious as always
john tanner is the wheelman for driver games
the first generation of the mustang was from 64-73 and the second 74-78, that car is either a 67 or 68 hardtop if you look at the front the lights are like pushed in and the backlights aswell
Mustang II Sweden It's a 67. The 68 had side markers.
Mustang II Sweden Mustangs we’re just Ford Falcons with a different body and stiffer suspension set up same car
It's '68 mustang in the game
@@JohnWick-yh5knit a 67
Excellent, legend :)
I temember this clear as day ❤
When games were made with passion.
20 years later this intro still captivates me like it did when I was a 7 year old
I like how it seems that they used the same models and textures for the parked cars in this intro as they did for the actual traffic cars in-game. Shame you don't get to drive a Mustang in the game though.
Takes me back
Nostalgia hit hard
that mustang sounds good af
The best shoe commercial in history
Epic!
asmr
I love this driver intro
Game is very cool I could play it all day
Oh how I long for the days we had octagonal tires.
Maybe I'll give you a call when I need a ride to the grocery store. Lol. Never forget that. Great times.
Sweet memories
My first PC game. I miss the old times
Has an original gone in 60 seconds vibe(1974). And it looks like a mustang too but definatly not a mach 1.
every time im in a parking garage walking to my car im reminded of this😂
the virgin in-game Dodge St Regis police car vs the chad cutscene Ford Fairmont police car
2:23 Ready, Set, ESCAPE!
yes i remember the game,is beatifull
