Dave grew up in Northern Virginia outside DC. He was the third in a line of drummers and moved out to Seattle amongst Osbourne of the Melvins suggestion. There ya go the true story. But yeah either way Dave is cool.
I'm pretty sure he had moved on and fully accepted Kurt's passing by this point. Absolutely heartbreaking news 💔 - made all the more devastating by the sheer loveliness and heart this band has radiated over the years!! The time they played in Iceland (few years back) remains in my mind - after visiting a lobster 🦞 restaurant in a small town in the south of the country, they overheard a band playing in a garage close by and invited them to play at their concert in Reykjavik the next day ❤️🙏❤️ - We all have our demons to deal with, but being kind is something we all can do no matter what we feel like ❤️❤️❤️
The way Dave and Taylor spoke to each other with words or music or glances was beautiful and incomparable. Dave confides something to Taylor and Taylor’s eyes seem to reassure, then he smiles at Dave and laughs. This was probably one of the most exciting things for him and the band at this stage of their careers. These two were holding each other up, no doubt. Much love ❤
I know this isn’t what the song is about to the guys who wrote it, but as someone that’s 3 months clean from fentanyl, this song really hits. I see that someone who was getting the best of me as the drugs or even satan tricking me. Powerful song. I’m no fool. I was born to resist. I swear I’ll never give in, I refuse.
Sometimes the most memorable masterpieces in rock history do not contain a heavy solo or a sophisticated theory behind it. Sometimes it only contains well chosen chords, great lyrics and lots of pure emotion.
Ohhhh, when Dave and Taylor have that moment and Taylor smiles -- my heart breaks again into a million pieces. Such a tragic and painful loss to the FOOniverse!!! Rest in power Taylor, Chris, Chester, Prince, Tom, Layne, Kurt and too many others....yes, many tears for them all.

I didn't dare listening to their first album. Afraid it would disappoint after Nirvana. Took me six months. Never looked back. Dave and his band are the real deal. He was only a bit older then me back then and I can only imagine what it all meant to Dave Grohl. He doesn't need the legacy. Not a tiny bit. But I hope the spirit of Kurt smiles down at times to see how his friend is doing and nods.... It's all well now.
Everybody needs somebody who looks at them the way Taylor looks at Dave. I wonder if it will always be so painful. I genuinely don’t know if it’s better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I just hope he knew how loved he was, is, and always will be. Fly high, Taylor. Your light will always shine.
Just randomly decided I wanted to watch Best of you but a live version, start watching this... then I remembered I was actually there, a foggy but emotional memory, a spotty 14 year old way up and at the back. Got the best of them that night, the moment where he stops, covers his eyes and the crowd feels what he feels and cheers all the louder for it, powerful.
We do... I do.... I'm a 45 year old man basically crying my heart out to him, his family, wife, Dave the foo fighters everything you could possibly think of. My heart and soul is aching so so bad lately I'm kind of lost.... All I can say is thank you for being in my life to how you made me feel with your musical god given gift that you had... I love you forever... R I P Taylor.. I'll never forget you..
I was there as a skinny little 16 year old with no true appreciation of what I was witnessing until looking back years later. It was my first ever live concert and fuck me, what an introduction to live music it was.
@@0saintclark0 I loved hearing your story! I took my 16 year old Grandson, to his first concert and it was the Foo Fighters, he was floored. I wonder if he feels like you do. He’s 20 now and in college. We had 2nd row center stage, right behind the pit. I rented a driver to take us, you get out right up front. It rocks! We got tshirts coozies, a hoodie. One thing I miss about concerts today compared to earlier years is having a ticket stub to save. In high schooI (72-75) I was doing good to buy a $5.00 ticket, so those ticket stubs were gold to me. I just love reading these comments and hearing young people express how important music is to them! Holy smokes, this old lady cried for days when Taylor died. He only wanted to slow down a little and rest more between shows. I heard more shows were continually being added and the concerts were going on for three hours. That’s seriously asking a lot of any one in their mid to late 40’s. Taylor was 47 or so playing like a 20 year old. What an honest down to earth man Taylor was, his music and memories will live on forever. Technology you gotta love it.
This is why rock is the king genre of all music...no other genre you'll find a sweaty performer SCREAMING their head off like this with a song that actually means something, no other genre encourages such raw human emotions, rock n' roll is freedom.
4:06 This should be a poster.. Dave covering his face, and the look of shock on Taylor's face.. In shock with the amount of people they are playing in front of..
It’s been two years and it still hurts so so bad. I’ve never been so wrecked by the loss of a musician as I was with Taylor. Loved this band since I was in the 4th grade. I’m 37 years old now. The world truly lost a beautiful soul. You will be forever missed.
Cant believe he is gone. No one could replace Taylor especially the way he plays the drums, you can really see the passion in his body language while playing. He is just on another level man. REST IN PEACE TAYLOR! your music will live forever!
My band is all about what you've done. Love you for what and who you are. My only request is to leave politics and corporate shittery out of the beautiful music. Love you Dave
Vengo aquí a llorar. Esto es el máximo momento, la máxima gloria de esta banda, una de mis 5 favoritas que nunca pude ver. Y ya no podré cumplir ese sueño sin Taylor. Eres leyenda, mi hermano.
This song, the crowd, and the emotion are off the charts to me. This song hit me really really hard the first time I knew the lyrics and now it means even more to me that Taylor is gone. He gave us the "BEST" of him. I will forever be grateful. When you see how people react to the lyrics in this song makes you wonder just how many of us have been abused in life. I am 56 and still struggle with why. It's songs like this that keep me going. I am born to "Resist" and I am doing that now, finally in life. I have allowed narcissistic behavior from friends and family to control me forever and I am done. Even if that means never having another friend because so far, there has only been one friend that was not a narcissist, and unfortunately, he died very early in life. I agree with the lyrics in this song and hope it impacts others that have dealt with this crap throughout their lives. RESIST!
Today is tears of joy bc stumbled across this video .... 8th of july ... Very dràwn to 8 and yes worst pain and abuse age 68 in May... Karmic cycle done...now I will only give back bc forever grateful... Lesson... And foo fighters ❤ love bc now I know my value....
"Taylor isn't gone, he lives in the rhythms and beats now, and rhythm never dies" My older brother said to me (who also a drummer) after he died. And that always makes me smile 😊
I've got another confession to make I'm your fool Everyone's got their chains to break Holding you Were you born to resist or be abused Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Are you gone and on to someone new? I needed somewhere to hang my head Without your noose You gave me something that I didn't have But had no use I was too weak to give in Too strong to lose My heart is under arrest again But I break loose My head is giving me life or death But I can't choose I swear I'll never give in, I refuse Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Has someone taken your faith? It's real, the pain you feel Your trust, you must confess Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Oh Oh, ho-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh Has someone taken your faith? It's real, the pain you feel The life, the love you'd die to heal The hope that starts the broken hearts Your trust, you must confess Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you I've got another confession my friend I'm no fool I'm getting tired of starting again Somewhere new Were you born to resist or be abused? My heart and soul is aching so so bad lately I'm kind of lost.... All I can say is thank you for being in my life to how you made me feel with your musical god given gift that you had... I love you forever... R I P Taylor.. I'll never forget you..
Every time he was behind the kit he looked like he was on top of the world...
R.I.P. sir...
The way everyone is singing back to Dave in the beginning is surreal. I’ll always be jealous of those people who all got to experience that live
I was there as a skinny little 16 year old with no true appreciation of what I was witnessing until looking back years later. It was my first ever live concert and fuck me, what an introduction to live music it was.
@@0saintclark0 That’s awesome! I can’t imagine

I loved hearing your story!
Dave's voice getting strained here. This inspires perseverance. 💯
R.I.P Taylor your the good drummer and Dave’s best friend rest in piece❤
The last concert I went to was Cal Jam with my ex wife... What a show makes me cry to think of the past
The raw power of a stadium singing altogether... is religious
I can’t believe I wasn’t here… I should’ve been here instead of being 9 days old
This is why rock is the king genre of all music...no other genre you'll find a sweaty performer SCREAMING their head off like this with a song that actually means something, no other genre encourages such raw human emotions, rock n' roll is freedom.
The drums in this song are the best I’ve ever heard.
4:06 This should be a poster.. Dave covering his face, and the look of shock on Taylor's face.. In shock with the amount of people they are playing in front of..
Taylor looks like he forgot to by milk for his wife
You could see Dave's and Taylor's bond! Foo Fighters without Taylor, won't be the same. Taylor was a massive part of that band. RIP Drummer king 👑
I just cried
It’s been two years and it still hurts so so bad. I’ve never been so wrecked by the loss of a musician as I was with Taylor. Loved this band since I was in the 4th grade. I’m 37 years old now. The world truly lost a beautiful soul. You will be forever missed.
RIP Taylor. I was at this concert too - the greatest concert I've ever attended in my life. Foo Fighters won't be the same without you.
Cant believe he is gone. No one could replace Taylor especially the way he plays the drums, you can really see the passion in his body language while playing. He is just on another level man. REST IN PEACE TAYLOR! your music will live forever!
The power of 80k people in unison, is almost overwhelming to watch. I can’t imagine what it must have felt like, being there in person.
It was incredible 😌
I'm crying!!
My band is all about what you've done. Love you for what and who you are. My only request is to leave politics and corporate shittery out of the beautiful music. Love you Dave
Breaks my heart loosing A rock n roll drummer that was so amzing and humble loose vs drugs etc
Vengo aquí a llorar.
RESIST!
Taylor 😭😭😭😭😭😭
this is the era for 90's
Today is tears of joy bc stumbled across this video .... 8th of july ... Very dràwn to 8 and yes worst pain and abuse age 68 in May... Karmic cycle done...now I will only give back bc forever grateful... Lesson... And foo fighters ❤ love bc now I know my value....
This is what living at 100% looks like! Dave, this song and your performance are the best of you!!! Thank you sir
"Taylor isn't gone, he lives in the rhythms and beats now, and rhythm never dies"
My older brother said to me (who also a drummer) after he died.
And that always makes me smile 😊
I've got another confession to make
I'm your fool
Everyone's got their chains to break
Holding you
Were you born to resist or be abused
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Are you gone and on to someone new?
I needed somewhere to hang my head
Without your noose
You gave me something that I didn't have
But had no use
I was too weak to give in
Too strong to lose
My heart is under arrest again
But I break loose
My head is giving me life or death
But I can't choose
I swear I'll never give in, I refuse
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Has someone taken your faith?
It's real, the pain you feel
Your trust, you must confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Oh
Oh, ho-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh, oh-oh, oh
Has someone taken your faith?
It's real, the pain you feel
The life, the love you'd die to heal
The hope that starts the broken hearts
Your trust, you must confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
I've got another confession my friend
I'm no fool
I'm getting tired of starting again
Somewhere new
Were you born to resist or be abused?
I swear I'll never give in, I refuse
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Has someone taken your faith
It's real, the pain you feel
Your trust, you must confess
Is someone getting the best, the best, the best, the best of you
Oh
Rest in Love great man Oliver Taylor Hawkins (February 17, 1972 - March 25, 2022) The Best of You!!!!!
the passion and emotion behind this performance!
The very first time I heard a song by Foo Fighters was when I was at Fort Eustis, VA. I have loved their music ever since,.
I'm from Hampton Roads ~ you don't often see posts from ppl on a random video you wanted to listen to. Great music!
I remember being there that night when they sung this, sent shivers down my spine, still does - awesome performance!!
So jealous but happy for you
I was at this gig and can honestly say it was one of the best nights of my life
The rhythm from the drums and bass is insane
for mathew, I still think of you and miss you...sorry for everything, you are the best, may God have you in his holy glory
3:20 broke my heart...
I don’t often listen to the Foos these days but when I do the block listens too..
I thought I heard it in the wind earlier today, my friend
I just love the way Dave and Taylor were talking to each other on stage Taylor with that beautiful smile hope Dave comes back from this music will help Dave broken heart 😥
He is gone but not forgotten. His smile and joy infected me.
