Pivoting it’s a great show from blue pictures television.
If only shiving a clicker were as easy as it is in the game. In this world, no one dare approach an infected because, unlike in the game, there's no redo. Plus, in the video game, if you're grappled by an infected, the rest kind of back off away from you so as to give you a chance.
Not to be a buzz kill, but why did they go upstairs in the first place? Weren't they trying to go through to museum? Asking for a friend.
It may have been the only way forward. All the other paths may have collapsed and since they've been through the museum before (IIRC), they know how to get out.
It's amazing how well they adapted this level from the game into the show!
