@Lenovo: Just admit that you should have listened to the ergonomics guy instead of the one who talks about 'angles' and 'design'.

I love this track pad. I don't use it the way they show here. I use my left hand thumb to left click while moving the cursor with my right index finger. I love it. I feel that my hands are not as strained and feels more efficient for me. Does anyone know of a portable version of this? I have an x1 carbon and I hate my finger prints all over it. I want to buy a keyboard and pair it with a trackpad with this design.

Don't care whether it's improvement or just bringing back the old trackpoint buttons... I support the decision. When mainly use trackpoint (instead of touchpad), those buttons are essential.

It's funny how companies are removing something good and old and in next series they announce it back like new innovation. :-D I don't understand why are they doing this, common person can't understand this. Notebooks for real users should be strictly separated from models for today hipsters.

I love ThinkPads, but I won't buy a laptop without mouse buttons. When I touch a button, my cursor doesn't move around arbitrarily. Seems like this should be basic HID design, but here we are.
I have an older P50 with six independent mouse buttons that are remapped, and I use them regularly. I was really thankful that Lenovo remained with its utility when I bought it. But I'm disappointed in the current design.
Maybe in the next few years when I'm back in the market, I'll see if the touchpad has improved. For now, I'll be looking for alternatives to a Thinkpad.

touchpad with buttons are the iconic parts of Thinkpad, if Legion lineup will have them it destroys the purpose. But I will be honest, a Legion Laptop with touchpad is pretty cool idea. I also hope the new legion will have touchpad with button and hope that all Lenovo Laptop line up will have the nostalgic buttons on the touchpad, at least if not the touchpad

@@Lenovo Most of my laptops have been 2nd hand Dell Vostros and Latitudes and my latest one was a Latitude E6540. They all had separate clicker buttons separate from the touch pad. Every time I would use a friend or family's non lenovo laptop with only one flat clicker touch pad, I would always have issues with it registering a click and a drag like it would conflict they're always finicky and random.
I actually did end up getting a Leg - Ion 5 (its a Dawid youtuber thing😄) configured with a Ryzen7,2060,32GB 17" 144hz. I got it in December direct from Lenovo and
I gotta say **I LOVE IT SO MUCH!** Its the best flat clicker touch pad I have used. It doesn't conflict when power using and multi tasking, click holding, dragging and dropping.
and please don't discontinue the SD card reader in the next generations when I want to upgrade!

Sure, you may a perform power drain by removing all connected (AC adapter, USB flash drive, etc.), shut it down, press and hold down the power button for 10 seconds. Turn it back on after a few minutes and see if you'll have the same issue. Are there any changes or updates prior to this issue? Ash_Lenovo

Hello! To summarize, the Trackpoint (red cap) controls the mouse cursor and the buttons on the left and right functions as left/right clicks respectively while the middle button can be used to to scroll through documents, web site, or apps. You can do this by pressing and holding the dotted scroll bar (middle button) while applying pressure to the Trackpoint in vertical or horizontal direction.

i find the buttonless clickpad classier to look at. But then again, old people finds it hard to adopt to innovative changes.. Basically, people are afraid to change or too lazy to learn new ways.. :) poor lenovo sacrificing innovation for the sake of people who are just too old/lazy to learn new things.

    • @ribbonaire

Moron. I've been using Thinkpads with the Trackpoint for over 20 years. So yeah, I"m used to it. And if this was an "innovation" you might have a point. But it is not an innovative change. There is NO improvement. (note they don't tell you why and how by giving, say, a feature/benefit explanation). I'm a writer, this is an important tool for me. But this new three button design on my X1 Carbon Yoga - is different why change it? It used to have all three buttons RAISED and you could feel it with your thumb. But now they're flat. You can't feel a differentiation between the the buttom. So I have to GLUE ON something so I can feel them out without having to take my eyes off screen. How is this an improvement? Does it look better? DUMB. I take it the people who design these things
