@@TomyTekOutdoors I went specifically to tryout the Old Town Top Water. I also tested the Hobie Passport and Outback. I thought the Hobies peddled easier. I liked the Old Town but the peddling seemed to have more resistance compared to the Hobies. I could feel it in my knees. The Jackson I tried did not track as well as the others. I should have checked out the Hobie Pro Angler but we had to hit the road. I was impressed with the folks at Delaware Paddle Sports. If I purchase a kayak it will definitely be from them.
@@chrispierce1739 there is another demo day on July 20th. You should try one of the Natives. I think the Jackson Big Rig had a problem with the rudder. I tried the Coosa and it was working. The Mirage Drive requires less effort. The Pro Angler is really nice, but heavy to transport. Make sure you take how you are going to transport it into consideration as well. The guys at Delaware Paddle Sports are awesome. I bought my 2019 Outback from them. You don't pay sales tax in Delaware, so that's a plus.

Thanks. I wish I had more time as well. I just bought a square back canoe, so I could take guests snakehead fishing. My boat is too big for snakehead. I'm considering selling it now, but we'll see.
The Bixpy Jet sure does make manual propulsion a thing of the past....plus it has some great speed!!
I'm quite happy with the Bixpy Jet. It's nice to have after a long day of fishing and you want to get back in quick. It also has a lot of different mounting options. It can be used on a paddle board and even hand held for diving. It's amazing how innovative technology is today.

Thank you. That adapter is not really designed for that kayak. I will try the rudder mount as soon as they start selling replacement rudders.

I have a Hobie Passport 10.5 and I'm very interested if you found a good way to install the Bixpy Jet for it.
Love the Passport, easy to carry and very stable when fishing plus enjoying the sailing (need the Bixpy to bring me back faster).
It's a pretty nice kayak for the price. I haven't tried one myself, but there are a few options. The DIY rudder mount would be a good option, but I've seen a few people have issues with the rudder breaking. If you reinforce it or custom make a stronger one, it might work. The power pole adapter is nice if you can fit it to the back. I know the Passport 12 has a pad for mounting a power pole, so it could work on that. Probably the most viable option is to use the universal adapter. Let us know what you decide when you get one. I'm hoping to demo the Passport 12 fairly soon. Happy Holidays!
Interesting review Tomy. I was thinking of this combination however the Bixpy does not fit the Passport mirage drive. Not sure if a rudder mount would work. There are other reviews out there that suggest the Passport rudder is very weak.
I really wanted to see how fast it would go with the Bixpy Jet, so I just made due with what I had. I know it is not supposed to fit, but I had to try. Once they start selling the rudders separately, I'm going to try the mod. It's definitely nothing like the Outback or Revo rudder. I will show a comparison of the both rudders when I'm able to get one. Thanks for watching.
Nice bixpy test. Beside the bixpy, what is your take on passport 10.5?
It's a pretty nice kayak for quick trips or someone that does not need to bring a lot of equipment. This would be great for some of the back country areas I fish. It's amazing to see a Hobie pedal drive at that price. I am trying to find a lighter kayak that I could easily take around with me for quick trips exploring really small water.
@@TomyTekOutdoors yes I think passport is good for fresh water but not ideal for open ocean.
@@MooMooOutdoors it would be an interesting video to see it go through the surf. I'm sure someone will do it. It would be great for back bays, but you still have to pick your days. I demoed a 13 revo the other day and man it was fast. I can see why you like it so much.

They started coming with kick-up fins in 2021.

Their new adapter will fit in all Hobies, so it should fit in the 12R.

It will probably be a little bit faster. A longer hull will be faster. Bixpy designed a new adapter that will fit the Passport correctly. I'm planning to do the same test on a 12 soon. Thanks for watching.

Hey TomyTek Outdoors I think someone needs to figure out , how to mount the Bixby Jet on the back of the Passport , thats mounted straight in line with the center of the kayak , & install a cord ,& cleat , that just raises , or lowers the unit , leaving the new simple rudder assembly intact for steering . One thats held by a bar & pin , where you could easily ,& quickly , put on , or remove the unit ,1- 2min tops . And if necessary , intall the Hobie rear hatch , where you have room to securely tighten down the mount with screws from the inside , & have it half-moon shaped , around the rear of the thin plastic , for extra "non flexing " strength . If you know someone up for the task , or if they have done so already , please let me know . Thanks bro .
Bixpy has a universal mount that might work. I know someone that use it for the older Outback and it worked out for them. It's pretty much the same concept as you just described.
