      It could be an offshoot, if you are in the new world, and a part that is cut off (crazy storm systems etc. maybe?) It's quite similar to the woodland one but I think maybe it could be a desert or wasteland Pteryx. It evolved to have a beak snout rath looking front of its face instead and could be bigger for whatever reasons would make sense in the situation.

    One thing I really hope to see from Wilds is the ability to truly observe how Elder Dragons can impact the environment around them.
    I would say B. Vaal Hazak did this a little when they went to the Ancient Forest, but it can be a lot more involved than that. Teostra visits a forested area and burns part of it, or raises the ambient temperature of the area so you need cool drinks in areas you normally don't. Velkhana freezing over bodies of water and causing snow in otherwise temperate regions.
    Or, what if the sandstorms in the trailer were caused by a Jhen Mohran? Or of there's a coastal area that experiences occasional earthquakes, caused by a Ceadeus? You don't necessarily have to show those monsters on-screen, either; a little secret area with a couple of shinies that point back to the monsters causing the phenomenon in question should be enough for people to connect the dots.
    Imagine if there was a title update that was going to add Gore Magala (or some similar monster), but before that update dropped, you could find "Mysterious Scales" or notice other monsters acting strangely (which, sidenote, is another thing I want: monsters reacting to the presence of other monsters in ways that go beyond "fight 'em!"). New players might become intrigued by this mystery, while series veterans get to feel smart for recognizing the signs of a familiar monster before it gets officially announced in the coming days.
    I dunno, I think the idea is neat.

      I think the idea has a lot of merit, and it can be implemented heavily or just to a minor degree. Either way it would be a boost to the games overall atmosphere which is my jam. When you play a game like monster hunter for so many hours, variations in the environment would be greatly appreciated as a reason to continuously enjoy the hard work put into making such amazing environments.

      I'd definitely appreciate really powerful monsters showing up early - like way before you're ready to fight them.
      Maybe it's just me, but I really enjoyed the feeling in World of running from the big Apex predators when they showed up and I wasn't geared for them yet.
      Especially if they stuck around for a few quests - essentially giving you the choice of dealing with the hazard of an Elder Dragon / Apex Monster when questing in a region, or *avoiding* the region altogether for like 4-10 quests until it moves on.
      What'd be even cooler would be if the map was altered for a bit after they left, too.

    • @borzoilover4156
      @borzoilover4156 6 месяцев назад

      I want their intelligence to also be realised it would be cool to have certain elder dragon species act differently towards you depending on how you hunt them- sort of like a reputation system like some could act friendly if you hunt rival species stuff like that or like kushala daora invading quests because they hold grudges

  • @Pascll

    something that is worth noting: tokuda wanted to add underwater areas with underwater combat in world, specifically in the wildspire waste, with the swamp there being what remains of that idea. they gave up on this pretty quickly due to time concerns, but it is worth considering that he wanted to add it and that capcom is thinking about it.
    but given how much bigger in scale wilds is, I do agree we probably won't see underwater combat. if the game had smaller maps like world, I think we might have seen underwater combat... but both underwater combat, expanded weather and a much bigger world together seems like too many innovations for one project.

    • @MonsJazier

    I got into Monster Hunter when MH:World came out and I mostly played Charge Blade through base World and CB/Switch Axe through Iceborne. I eventually dabbled into Hunting Horn, and now I'm trying to learn every weapons' nuances. Throughout my playthroughs, I felt that I wanted a "blunt Dual Blade" archetype in the form of "fist" type weapons that use explosive Phials in tandem with their attacks. I envisioned that their combo strings would be more free-form allowing the player to string "light", "heavy", and "phial" attacks in any order with special powerful charged combo-enders.
    After learning about the tonfas, I think they embody the idea that I had in my head of this agile brawling weapon with quick strikes weaved in with powerful hard hitting attacks. Even if tonfas don't return in Wilds, I hope that they return in some MH title down the line because they look pretty rad, especially those pile-bunker attacks!

  • @Shark_Dude
    @Shark_Dude 6 месяцев назад +4

    Honestly, I feel like a full open world in wilds is a bit more likely than most people think. In the trailer we were shown only one biome throughout the whole runtime, and it looks MASSIVE. I think just from the trailer and previous games, I think it shouldn't just be swept off the table. We don't have any idea of how big the map is because we were shown only the one biome, which also might mean it isn't open world as well, but there's also the fact that the raptor has pouches on its side that look like they might be a moble version of the camp boxes. Why would we need that if it was just big open areas? I know I could be wrong entirely, but a full open world just seems to be what the series has been building up to. An open thriving world of monsters that can be explored in its entirety. Again I could be wrong, so feel free to come back and bully me if I am wrong when the game releases.

    • @victory8928
      @victory8928 4 месяца назад

      I feel the problem is implementation sure the games may seem to be leaning into that but open world is such a massive issue and had saturated the market I don’t think it is a good idea. I personally don’t like open world as much especially cause it would mean removing aspects of the games that were staples. Doesn’t mean we can’t see monsters in very environmental situations but I don’t think it makes sense to dwell into it since it is such a sink and can be such a trap. I hope we have great traversal and that monsters utilise that and the environments well but I don’t think the game should be open world

      @@victory8928 While, yes, I understand the market is very oversaturated with open world games, and their enviornments can feel very empty and bland, I don't see why open world is inheritly a bad thing. Open world can work as long as you have to discover a monster's lair, multiplayer might be a bit difficult to implement if all players could just wander around discovering different things at different times, the host would be screwed over
    Each lair can have like a mini arena so you get to use the environment to your advantage and do cool tricks
    Maybe they'll put more focus on the smaller monsters and endemic life
    Anyway I'm looking forward to it

    I agree that MHWilds will probably be multiple large open zones, not an open world. My personal theory is that each "lightning rod" seen at the end of the teaser trailer is a physical indicator of where each fighting zone is, and if you take the end shot to mean that, the map looks like an expanded version of Rise's take on region design.
    I think people dreaming about the true open world fail to consider a lot of hurdles Capcom would need to get over with that formula. You really can't just drop Monster Hunter into an open world and expect everything to work itself out

    I would like them to introduce some of the old creepy lore mh had like the chimera monster. While the story hasnt been an important part of the mh games, i would like them to make something more interesting than monster x is disrupting nature.
    Im looking to see how they will do with the maps, im hoping the reason why we are getting a mount is because the maps will be bigger and there will be more vertical exploration too. I think the mount being a mobile camp might mean that we will be limited to a second load-out and limited items to bring so we will have some restock but wont be an unlimited amount of restock/switch gears per hunt. That might be a bridge between the players that felt like the camps were too OP in world/rise and that ones that likes the way it is now.

    Couldn’t give a damn about cross save, bc can’t say I have the budget to play one game on multiple platforms. No clue how a lot of people can afford that. I will say though that cross play would be awesome bc that would open more friends of mine to trying the game if they can play with me to help them out. That makes it seem more profitable to the company imo. Not sure if the returns are worth what is probably a hefty investment tho.

    So, in evidence for an open world design for wilds. 1, world's maps are, in fact, walking distance from each other so tech limitations was the bigger issue for make world open world. 2, both rise and world have 1 map with multiple biomes, so it seems they are at least considering how it could work.

    • @victory8928

      And said environments are kinda just phasing stuff cause guiding lands’s whole gimmick is that it is the new area for end game hunting while the Sunbreak one is to show off the three lords. I don’t think it makes sense to have massive interconnected worlds mostly cause you need good intermediates and that is lacking in some regards sure rotten vale and highland connect a bit (mainly on the highland end) and the ancient forest and wildspire connect but it feels a bit well segmented off in those cases. I just think that having some good maps that allow for unique ecosystems that the devs can add monsters to that fit would be cool maybe even adding back older maps that could just some unique love by making unique monsters for certain niches or revamping existing monsters with subspecies and the like to help flesh the map out while having good interactions. Having open world means you are gonna be getting lots of open space (look at elden ring which is literally cramped with stuff to do)

    • @joereed8872
      @joereed8872 4 месяца назад

      @victory8928 I'm neutral on if it should or shouldn't be open world, my specific take is that the devs have been striving towards an open world experience with each iteration of the game. I could care less what the maps specifically are as long as the devs are executing on their vision. I also think from watching the series evolve that their ultimate vision includes a form of open world environments.

    So my argument to the level designs.....the reason they've done those style of maps big unconnected maps in world and rise is so they can eventually do a fully integrated open world, think of starfield and how much it sucked not to be able to travel from map to map, and to your argument of the different biomes if that elden ring has many different biomes across its huge open world from snow to volcanos, to plains and swamps

    • @ravensblade
      @ravensblade 6 месяцев назад +1

      Open world is just buzzworld. By itself it's neither gain or lose. And i don't think it add anything in MH formula.
      1) If the put emphasis on ecology or environment and some level of "realism" for it to immersion, zones can't be too small. It would be weird to switch from forest to dessert and for the ecosystems to be believable. In same way open world games often look more unrealistic. Why? Because we have to pretend that these few houses are bustling city, that few acres of trees are gigantic, continent spawning forest. To cover wild changes of environment in small area you need to obscure distance adding mountains or other such things. In case of maps you know that map are in small part of city or small part of forest.
      Actually several big maps are more realistic. That how it works in real world. If you want to hunt in savanna you travel there. If you want to hunt in arctics you travel there. You don't just walk around and think that after walking for 15 minutes you will found temperate forest.
      2) MH games are not about free exploration but about hunting. You hunt, usually for particular monster. I doubt you would like to travel 15 minutes to different zone for a hunt. You would want to fast travel there. But in that case open world gives nothing when you would just fast travel to particular biome you are actually interested in. It would work the same whenever these biomes are connected or not.

    I expect 30 to 40ish monsters on release
    while I understand your point about the scale of the game being huge and them reworking the series, I think you forgot 1 key factor
    MH is HUGEEE now its capcom's fastest growing franchisee and their top 5 games have 3 MH games (well 2 games and 1 expansion)
    so the game's budget might be the biggest capcom budget for a game ever or at least something like double worlds budget
    therefor I don't think its out of the question that we will get a TON of monsters with a TON of ecological details
    of course this depends on if they add new weapons, will it be fully open world or like the witcher
    but I honestly don't think there is a world where wilds only starts with 25 unless the title updates have 2/3 each and we get 5 so 15 more monsters making base game end with 35 to 40 monsters (since I highly doubt its going to add 2+ new weapons or be a fully open world game) but we have to wait and see
    and even if its only 25 monsters the game will be really good anyways and we will get more over time

    Considering that we never saw these things in world, and the wildspire not being that big of an area (you can see a large portion of it from astera), I believe this will either take place in the old world, or be a different area than the new world we were at before. It seems to me that the new world is just a peninsula and we'll be exploring the main landmass as "pioneers". Carrying multiple weapons, having mounts, and the camping gear indicate that the hunter is going to be playing more of an exploratory role in this game. I'd like to see some kind of mechanics that let us be more self sufficient rather than relying on a hub to return to. Maybe something like modifying weapons at your camp, and logging quests and hunts for yourself.

    i have my own hopes for MH Wilds - whether it takes place in the New World or not; allow me to share them.
    *1)* the return of the Verdant Hills and the Marshlands.
    what's that? they'd be boring? i didn't hear complaints when the Jungle returned in Sunbreak. besides, it'll do the franchise some good to go back to basic environments - but with New World monsters like Blackveil in the Verdant Hills (remember the Jaw Wyvern concept art? it'd be a lovely reference to it).
    and if the theory that we'll be exploring uncharted parts of the New World ends up being right, why not have biomes similar to those of the Old World? it'd be better than the Ancient Forest and whatever that bog in the Wildpire Waste is supposed to be (which hardly count as a forest and marsh, imo).
    and i agree with you: we need an official Old World map! (and a replica of the General's armour. that cape's too good to pass up)
    *2)* an overhaul for Lao Shan Lung.
    CR-Volcanic's video named "Let's make Lao Shan Lung fun" explains it best; and my comment adds a few things that *could* make it better:
    - the new fortress would be built to guard a mine in a mountain that extracts and houses ores and minerals... which Lao eats. he would attack because the fort essentially holds a bouffet; but we need those ores because we know we'll have to fight a lot of dragons - we thought of making Ballista Ammo, Cannons, Cannon Balls, and a Dragonator or two.
    - a breath attack. working in tandem with CR-Volcanic's rework of Lao's fight, the monster would be more threatening if he could also blast you from the ramparts or blow you away before you got too close to him.
    it'd look like cold breath (aka your breath made visible because of Winter's cold), and inflicts Dragonblight. Lao's one of the first monsters to introduce you to the element.
    far-fetched? let's not forget that Kushala Daora's stomp in SunRise and Fatalis' mere BITE inflict the status.
    and i also want to *truly* like this dragon.
    - Lao Shan Lung would have all 14 weapon types. Online has Lao weapons that the mainline games and GU don't - few of them were Ashen Lao's weapons (Online gave Ashen Lao's SnS a paint job; and i doubt it's that hard to do. why isn't it in GU, which came out *after* Online?).
    i highly recommend watching CR-Volcanic's video - there's also my comment saying the same things i've said here.
    *3)* more power to the monsters.
    remember when you first started out, and Yian Kut Ku kicked your@r$3? fast-forward to G-rank, remember when Yian Garuga, Rajang, Teostra and Deviljho were terrifying? good times. now i want them back.
    not counting Alatreon and Fatalis from WorldBorne, the closest thing i got to that were Raging Brachydios and the Risen Dragons.

    The other day i was on my way to a town, fucked up some goblins, got attacked by an oger, in the middle of the fight a griffin shows up, i get distracted looking at it. Tje oger bitch slaps me across the road, as i get up, a pack of wolves shows up amd drags me away. My side pawn is healing me, my main pawn was left to 1v1v1 the griffin and oger and is now dying in the back groun. Some lizard bitches roll up to have their tails sliced.

Ofc I am talking about Dalamadaur. If you take all these things toghether it makes perfect sense that dalamadaur comes back. I mean why else would the rotten vale be made out of 2 of them. • @dragoneye9595

    Kinda late to the party but I have two points to make:
    1. Back when underwater combat was invented, it was developed on a way older engine. Maybe engine limitations were the reason why it was so difficult to develop. That's why I don't think it is unlikely for underwater combat. Plus they tried to make Lagiacrus work for MH World but failed (bcs they did not see how to make the fight great without unterwater combat). I feel like it really oculd return now as technology has improved alot.
    2. To the topic of weapons: weapons always released in a pair of two. The big swords (Long Sword and Great Sword), the lances (lance and gunlance), the morphing weapons (switch axe and charge blade, the blunt weapons (hammer and horn) etc. The only two weapons missing the other part are insect glaive and bow. So I personally see a spear like weapon or maybe a crossbow coming at some point. Tho if they decide to release another pair to the main series, fast blunt weapons would be a solid choice.

    Its head resembles that of a Stegosaurus, a dinosaur within the Thyreopora group of Ornithiscians, which include armored dinosaurs like Stegosaurs and Ankylosaurs
    Aptonoths and their relatives are also within Ornithischia and upon closer inspection, are within Thyreopora (as theyre classified as being under Clubbed Tail suborder, which is basically just Thyreopora in monster hunter)
    My take is that these pangolins, or "Pangonoths", are either closely related to the previous dinosaur herbivores or at the very least convergently evolved to look like them
    Possibly more related to Apceros than Aptonoth, in a way that the smaller Nodosaurs are semi distant cousins to the club tailed Ankylosaurs

    The desire to bring underwater combat back is bizarre to me. Because of all the things mentioned in the video but also.. it was clearly an attempt to add verticality to the environments but it ended up being too expensive. 4 went the other way and added maps that went UP and were way more vertical, there’s a lot of climbing and falling down cliffs. And since then MH has been doubling down on implementing verticality in a smart way. Rise’s whole gimmick was basically letting you fly, a spiritual opposite to 3’s water combat.
    I guess my point is that MH combat is evolving and experimenting all the time, there’s no need to regress to an old idea that wasn’t even that good.

    I completely disagree with your idea of it not being an open world game. They always test things in current games for the next one, I think the whole “map” will be one big Guiding Lands, where temperatures shift and environments change and swap, like they do in the guiding lands. This will create an interesting gameplay where you never know what you are going into… might be a snowy day with heavy snowstorms where the waters freeze over, might be a sunny dry day with oasis like environments. If they do this, they are able to make it open world, but lock certain environmental changes behind key quests to unlock new monsters.
    Tbh the whole game will probably be about a monster that is effecting the environment while just existing, like elderdragons do….
