  • Ok this is cool. we got some cool liquids in and made our own trim jigs for our radio molds.
    This is my first time messing with this particular set up and it worked good!
    Just ordered threaded inserts to finish these off so will do another video when they come in.
    Enjoy!

    Oh man, I thought the flash bang mold was a mold for pistol light widgets!!!! I was excited to spend money, so hopefully you make those next.

    When you cut it on the bandsaw you can use your trim pieces and turn them upside down Or draw the outline of them inside the codex. Then cut them about a quarter of an inch away from the lines that way you’re not trimming off so much and the cut will be smoother. Great video.

    I saw someone that did these spray the top with something rubbery that's was super thin but the coating on top keeps em from moving. You can also just make/get some machined cylinders with male threaded posts and screw those into the trim jig so u don't have to use screws every time, it'll just sit on top and be kept still by the 4 posts going through the holes and the sticky/rubbery tops

    You need to leave less material on the shell before you trim it on the router. That way it’ll jump less. I cut the shells about 1/4” (or less) bigger than the trim jig.

    NICE! Recently found your channel and I have been wondering why you don't make molds. I was thinking you cold make some router jigs with wood and add some pins for indexing. Then if you need more support do a mold like you just did but with the wood and kydex clamped together (save $ on your mix. You also just created a nearly perfect backup for you original vacuum mold. Speaking of which, you should be able to use your vac to remove air bubbles after you mix the 2 parts.

      @@FalTacUnlimitedLLC super impressed. When you build a one off custom holster, you could now make a reusable mold! (I guess for a taco you'd need to unfold it first or cut it). "Hey I just made a glock holster for the new olight, now I can sell a hundred of them!" - you are scaling up

    Try double sided tape, or blue tape both sides with CA glue between tape layers...

    • @allpoints2343
      @allpoints2343 3 года назад

      Or can do a double sided mold, sandwich the kydex for trimming

    I didn't see anything in the video, are you spraying any release agent on the kydex to keep the alumires from bonding to the mold?

    • @FalTacUnlimitedLLC
      @FalTacUnlimitedLLC  Месяц назад +1

      Negative. I have done it with some. Made no difference

    • @fattigla
      @fattigla Месяц назад +1

      @FalTacUnlimitedLLC that's good to know, I've done some molding with a couple different types of epoxy, a resin must be different in concerns with needing release agent. I was nervous for you the first time I watched it, I didn't think they would release. Thanks fir making this video! It's a great way to make a solid custom mold or trim jig! I've learned a ton from your videos!

    Iggy: I'll put it in this ice cooler.
    MFR: For best results... preheat the mo...
    Iggy: I'll put it in this cooler filled with snow.

    Rough cut it a bit closer so you are truly only trimming and not taking the whole bit depth. It seemed to chatter less, and wasn't breaking off "chunks".

    • @FalTacUnlimitedLLC
      @FalTacUnlimitedLLC  3 года назад

      It's the final shape of the holster in a solid mold form. Used with a router to cut the kydex to its final shape repeatedly with the same results
