Great idea. To release the dried plaster from the mold, would it help to spray the inside of the mold with WD-40 or some other kind of lubricant? Greg Index Point Holsters, LLC
@@qlhholsters2361 thanks for the video! Very good idea. - does the diameter of the bit matter? And the speed? - i tried a 1/2 diameter flush trim bit and it was very rough. Didn't seem workable. I had a pretty slow speed given the bit is quite tall at 2.5" and the manual on my router discouraged high speeds for big bits.
Awesome video buddy...just wanted to say thanks !!
Jason, can you take a kydex formed shell and attach it to a piece if wood cut out to shape. So no mold underneath it
What type of plaster did you use?

Maybe. As long as you dont puddle it
They have release agent spray for plaster I believe
🍿🐿️ that is excellent!! 🎉
Are you using any screws to secure the shell or is the Plasti Dip enough?
Renaissance Firearms a few layers of plastidip provides enough static friction to keep the Kydex on
What do you use for indicators during molding for drill marks?
Finishing nails
@@qlhholsters2361 thank you for the video I'm gonna try this today.
Any chance you have a likk to the plaster
Its plaster of Paris, you can find it at any hardware store
Would the same process work to make a mold gun?
Yes, but you would only get like 1 or 2 presses
Even with a vacuum former.
@@GaryHale8808 the plaster of Paris doesn't hold up to the heat of the kydex very well.
what type of router bit do you use?
A bottom bering 1" flush trim bit. You can usually find them on Amazon
@@qlhholsters2361 Thanks for the info.
