- Isaac Botkin explains some of the benefits of CNC-made holsters during a particularly busy workday, using CNC routers from Shopbot. This is the first video in our "Inside T.Rex" series that will show more behind-the-scenes stuff at T.Rex Arms, so let us know in the comments what you would like to see next.

I think that I can talk for the majority of people that use your holsters when I say that this kind of content is MUCH appreciated.
Can we watch a holster get made from start to finish? I love that style of video
bobert577 love you too boo
The CNC mills move almost as precisely as Lucas does :)
FINALLY someone who actually makes holsters for a living is a doing a “show” on holster making. THIS is what I’ve been waiting for. TRex Arms has redeemed themselves with this video! More please!! And for gods sakes PLEASE change the design of your raptor tuck claw as it digs into your thigh and creates a hotspot. And I’d also REALLY love to see an update to the sidecar, maybe a Sidecar 3.0 with a flexible midpoint, built in wedge, and redesigned aggressive yet minimal raptor tuck claw that doesn’t dig into your thigh anymore (no sharp edges!) A lot of other companies have surpassed TRex when it comes to holster design features that truly help conceal ANY size firearm, however, NONE have the kind of social media and industry notoriety and presence as TRex Arms. After all, it was TRex Arms who were the first to create the “sidecar” style appendix holster. Would love to see more “upcoming” behind the scenes and “how we design” or “why we design” our products a certain way. Keep it up guys!
I took the claw off of both sides after an hour for that reason. I'm less worried about some printing than being uncomfortable. I like the idea of it flexing in the middle.
@E B The claw was correctly installed (as you described), it just wasn't comfortable for me. I didn't have the "digs into the thigh" problem, but it was uncomfortable. I've carried with the sidecar for over a year now, without the claw on either side and I love it.
Ok but what’s inside Lucas?
Gears? Hydraulics? Processors? Cameras?
Uhhhhh... no comment
Aimbot coding.
ChrisPewKreme,
Probably the CPU from the Cyberdyne Systems T800 Series, Model 101 Terminator, among other things.
@@f308gtb1977 He'll be back.
His brain is an aim bot, his fingers are Jerry Miculek, his legs are Usain Bolt, and his blood is red bull
Purchased a Raptor a week ago and it shipped out today, I was wondering how it shipped so fast and this video answered it! Can’t wait to get it in and buy more awesome stuff from you guys
You guys make some seriously quality stuff. Since discovering your company I have purchased a ragnorak and a side car and I will be soon purchasing another lightbearing sidecar soon. I recommend your holsters to everyone
I just received my first T.Rex holster today and I can honestly say, it's excellent. Thanks, guys.
its great seeing how you guys produce your products. It gives a whole new view of you . More than just hitting steel on the range. Good job.
Awesome stuff! Thanks for the peek behind the curtain!
In can confirm; all my T.Rex Arms holsters (and everything else I’ve ordered from them) are top notch, A+ gear. Buy with confidence.
Keep doing what u guys do love your stuff
This is the episode of How It's Made that I've been waiting for
Awesome video. Always love to see the how to look behind the curtain.
Very cool to see the behind the seems video.
Awesome work Guys!
I’ve been wearing/using your sidecar holster everyday for about a year and a half for my G26. Still looks and feels brand new. Great product. The best in my book. Keep making awesome quality holsters. I’ll have to pick up another for my new Gen 5 G19 MOS. 👌
These are excellent holsters. I own a Ragnarok and use it for shooting USPSA matches. I love it !!!!
Great really informative video, Thank you T-Rex !
Solid products. I’ve owned many and still run them after multiple years.
Dale Taylor Jr. yeah okay john
I was looking at getting my own shopbot for sheaths and handles for runs of midtech's. Glad to see someone else is doing well with the same machines.
I'm fired up to watch all of this
Shopbot! 🤘. I love mine. Awesome job guys
Yo, these videos are just as cool as the shooting.
I spent a few years at Toyota as a Quality Inspector after moving out of production. I love watching how the process smoothes out and streamlines. Even in that little bit I'm checking out workstations and walls and personal protection equipment, judging the distance between stations and looking for ways to speed up or improve the process. It's safe to say that production really got into my blood, so thank you for letting us into your shop.
I really enjoy reading about Toyota's lean manufacturing process, and we are always looking to implement more of that philosophy around our shop!
@@isaacbotkintrex I have carried with me what I learned there everywhere I went since. There is not a place that I have worked that has not saved tons of money and time because of me helping to implement some sort of TPS. Mostly against their will, but it's always better later. A lot of companies just are resistant to change, but you can't deny the numbers on the other side. If I'm honest with myself that's the business I should be in, streamlining other businesses, but at the end of the day I just like making things. As efficiently as possible. There is just so much value added in making it cheaper and easier for a company to produce higher quality products while at the same time relieving the burden on employees, mentally physically, and cumulatively. That last one is the thing that most people don't get.
@@greenmansoutdoors9456 Can you recommend a good resource online where you can read/watch/understand TPS with examples.
@@HPanni I haven't looked in to it. My trainings took place at the Toyota Plants. There are a lot of bastardized versions of it out there, so research wisely when looking in to it.
Thanks for the video and let Lucas know he's an amazing shooter whose videos sell a lot of T-rex product. Your shop is impressive!
awesome guys!!!!! top shelf as always
Love these guys. Cust service is great.
Keep them coming, this is Great content.
Love behind the scenes videos! I'd like to see a holster made from start to finish
This is cool, I would love to see more!
Yeah this stuff is awesome. keep it coming!
Very Impressive! I'd like to see a video on the design side. When a new gun comes out, how do you decide how the holster should be configured? What features do you have in prototype that we'll be seeing in the future and how do you come up with that? Let us see the brain trust at work!
One hell of a good video 👍
Already have one holster, looks like I need 2 more for black Friday keep those machines working!!
Great. Thanks for sharing such interesting content
Like the direction yall are taking this channel keep up the good work. P.S. Love my Raptor
Good job guys! I had to cancel an order thru black rifle company due to CNC being down. I finally opted to cancel after 5 months with nothing to show for it. "Shit Happens" and big shout out to you guys for thinking ahead
Look forward to more of these. 👌
Awesome concept. Would love to see a holster from start to finish, as well as employee stories. What is their job description, how they got involved in the company and their plans for future development. Keep up the good work.
Great video ty for making
Super cool content! Keep it up please!
Loved this video thanks for doing this
Love this gear keep up the good work
Always enjoy a good vid on how things are made. Always loved that show on discovery Channel, so it's cool that you are incorporating the style into your Vlogs!! Keep up the good work!!
Definitely more behind the scenes. And more T-1000 videos. Well, more anything. All of it. All the time.
Awesome! Thank you for giving us a rundown & inside look at how T.Rex Arms cranks Out a great finish product! I have the Ragnarok , it’s by far the best holsters have🇺🇸
Thanks for making my holster guys. I've bought 3 sidecars so far and it's the best for me.
I have a Raptor, Ragnarok, Mars Pistol x2, Mars Rifle x1, and thigh strap. All are high quality, excellent products. Thank you.
Keep up the great work! I love my nomad holster for edc and will be buying a ragnarok soon.
Looking forward to your Black Friday sale!
nice work.
VERY PERFECT EQUIPEMENTS!!
Would be awesome to see behind the scenes on planning range day such as what drills to accomplish x,y, or z goals. Also would be cool to see design, test, and development process!
bout time the video drops!
Hey look, this turned out pretty well.
David Tucker, 👍. Thanks for what you do!
@@f308gtb1977 You're welcome!
Cool look on the inside thanks
I vote making a video of making the shop bot machine "sing" by cutting and combining clips of the different pitches that the bot makes as it cuts the kydex.
Out standing products.
This is 2 years later but I ordered a Ragnarok on black friday, and I've been able to use a few times and I absolutely love it. Its the 3rd holster I've owned, 2nd expensive one, and by far the best. Now I just gotta get me hands on that chest rig 😜
When your shop bot goes rogue and starts mass producing 80% lowers go ahead and hit the subscribe button
I respect u guys alot
A video on how you started this business and how you learned to make holsters would be great. How long it took you from the ground up to where your business is today.
A shop tour would be cool
Neat. I loves businesses that make a product.
Hola ,saludos desde Argentina. Es increíble el trabajo que hacen ,felicidades
Didn't know you made kydex holsters. Now I know who to go to, thx.
Great video! I run a fab lab and we have a Stepcraft 840 which is a bit bigger than a Shopbot Desktop MAX. It is really motivating to see what you are doing with your holster production using a DIY type of CNC. Been thinking about doing a design class using the Stepcraft and a holster would be a great project. Would love to see a video of how you guys go through design to production.
Bought a Ragnarok for my post career gunbelt this week, looking forward to testing run and gun. The ability to switch from my G17 Gen 5 to a future G45, or G34, with or without a comp, is huge.
Can’t wait to get my Ragnarok holster🤘
Video production for sure
Cool video. Talk about the range and how that came to be next.
Timelapse of a sidecar build
Alright admit it, you sped up footage of that cnc ;)
Lol
800 inches a minute, makin' it happen, right here in AmErIcA. Boom!
I mean it is just plastic and not hardened SS going at 1.005 in/min
Great video! You guys need to make a PPK & PPK/S holster!
Great!
On an all new episode of Top Gear!
You can tell that Lucas and you are related. Not only do you look alike, you sound alike.
John Smith jr lol, they do!
Prototype Lucas vs Lucas Model 101
forrestgumball 😂😂
I'd love to see one single holster go through the whole process so that we can see all the steps it takes!
Very impressive! I’m a big fan. Keep up the great work and great customer service. Still rockin the sidecar but may need another with new colors and options soon. Do you guys just run a big vacuum hose over the table to get all of the shavings? Also, any plans to build a flexible sidecar similar to another brand or will you stay true to the original design?
I like these inside looks. Anychance Lucas can break down your guys range that your always shooting at? I'm. Sure it wouldn't be much of a video but maybe throw in all the equipment/targets/obstacles on the range. Thanks again
Now all that's left is a bunch of real CNC machines, a few billet blocks and a lot of genius
But seriously, these videos should be longer cause they’re cool AF. Mos def whole bunch ofa nerds who like these aspects of craft(probably everybody). Suffice to say, Id like more...longer videos
Speeds/feeds/tooling for working kydex? Downcut? How do you keep “chip welding” from occuring? Great video’s, very inspiring!
Will u guys be making some for any 1911 platform.
Happy Thanksgiving T-Rex and crew. I'm looking for a level 2 holster for a Taurus 24-7 in 45 ACP with accomadation for a laser/light. Do you make such a thing?
Great video, Lucas' other dad!
please show us the entire workshop!
Where do you get the format for making the mold with the cnc router? And also where do you buy the plastic?
I would like to see how the ordering system works. Do you guys keep a copy of the order with each holster/product from start to finish or is much of it done electronically? Love the companies content that you all put out👍🏻
Hey Trexarms been a following you guys for awhile now keep up the good work. How are you able to use Gcode and Safariland mounts? Did you have to sign something with them?
Farewell, sweet hearing.
wish yall made holsters for more gun/light combos...
The process of getting a new gun. Figuring out the perfect mold. Whatever else that goes along with that
Make a video about the beginning and how you started.
I think I’m going to be a new customer.
I'll take Mike's holsters at LLOD anyday of the week and twice on sundays
For a moment I thought you were talking about Uncle Mike's holsters and I was... skeptical.
Dude...do you remember your saiga 12 vids way back.... Man you did alot.
T Rex: wonder what happened to my post from a few days ago about your shop? Great video BTW. What is the square footage? What of heating is used? What type of cooling? How cold does it get there and how hot in the summmer?
Love my Sidecar
Good job T. rex I noticed you spoke about quality improvement and repeatability but I’m also sure these machines are making you more profitable as u won’t need as many employees. And that is the way of the future, automation is putting a lot of people out of jobs. My point is we Americans want to blame everyone else that some are being left behind. Well this is the future
You can look at it as putting people out of jobs, or freeing them up to do better jobs. Yes, the machine is doing the boring, menial work that our crafters used to do, but that means it has freed them up to be vacuumformers and machine operators. It's a step up for everybody in the company - safer, more fun, and better pay. It has even made the customer service job easier because there are fewer mistakes to deal with.
