Next question beside getting a good seal when vacuum forming at what PSIV -pressure should I have a crisp well defined holster? Last question I'm a aircraft AMT by trade so tend to"over build things so I need to ask about contamination of you vacuum pump do you feel there is a need for a "debris trap"? thx Rich Johnson

    • @FalTacUnlimitedLLC
      @FalTacUnlimitedLLC  2 года назад

      Overbuilding is a good quality to have. I chose 12 cfm to have maximum suck. But you can get good results with 3 cfm. I just rather buy once and cry once. According to the gauge I get about 28 to 29 inches of mercury with each pull which sounds right at my altitude. They do make inline filters as well for the vac. I personally don't have one and I keep a piece of tape over the hole when not in use.

    Iggy, try this tapping tip if you don’t/broke/walked away a tap handle.
    After drilling the correct tap hole into the material with a drill press, don’t release the material from the drill press table. Replace the drill bit with the tap in the drill chuck.
    DO NOT TURN ON THE DRILL PRESS!!!!!
    Lower the chuck & tap to the material. Keeping slight down pressure on the drill press handle, grasp the chuck with your other hand and rotate it clockwise. After a few rotations of the chuck & tap, the threads will start to be cut into the material. Rotate to depth, CCW to back out and your done.
    Yes, it can be done under power, I just don’t like breaking & extracting broken taps. Also can be down with a hand drill as long you can keep the drill at 90 degrees to the material.
