I really love this tutorial! I’ll make these for my cats and my local SPCA for their fundraisers and for the kitties in the shelter. I just made some small catnip toys, but love these bigger ones.

Donut is gorgeous. I have 2 cats they are sisters and 17 years old., I live in uk, so they are outdoor cats although they now are in most of the time as sleep for about 22 hours a day. They love catnip I spray it on things for them. I made one of these but the catnip smell didn’t last that long as they disregarded it, how long would you say the scent lasts. Thanks for another great tutorial, I love all your fabric xx

These look fab, I so want to try, just need a sewing machine. Would this work for rabbit fur / pelt as well? Are there any specific considerations I would need to take into account?
I am not sure, I don't use those materials so I don't want to say yes or no.

it really depends because I do them in batches and I have someone else stuff them now. You could make 20 an hour I think. I sell mine $5ea or 3 for $13 at shows.

I have tried but my cats got into it while it was drying and now I use so much I could never keep up. I *think* it has to do with the drying time and age possibly.

I found a supplier that I'd like to keep confidential, however you can find catnip at any pet store and most grocery stores.
Maybe your supplier would appreciate it if you would inform others where to order so they could sell more catnip.
I want to sew this as a gift for my boyfriend's cat. I won't see him until a few days later, if I sew it today, will the catnip "work" until the cat gets the toy? Won't the smell dissipate? I don't have a cat myself and I don't really know how it works 😅 How often should such a toy be replaced to keep it working? How long does the catnip "work"?

I LOVED your Video Tutorial! It was Easy & Easy to Follow. I have 2 Questions though:
1. Where did you get the 8"x10" Pattern Square? Did you have that specifically made or does someone Sell that Size already Made up or was it a Pattern Piece from a Different Pattern??
2. What Kind of Catnip do you use? I heard you say it's Really Potent, so I'm REALLY Interested in where you got it or What the Brand is.
In Terms of Catnip, I've had the Fastest, Funniest Responses w/ Cat Crack, Yowzee, Meowijuana 7 Herb Pawty Mix, Meowijuana Kalico Kush, but 2 of my 3 Cats also Love the Dollar Tree Catnip (Called "World's Strongest Catnip") & a Brand Sold at Pets Supplies Plus that has a "Bliss" Version, but my 3rd Cat only likes the Catnip w/ Valerian Root bc he was Born w/out the Catnip Gene & has 0 Reaction to Regular Catnip, he needs Blends w/ Valerian Root in it. Haha!!
Besides my 3, I also take care of a 12 Homeless Cat Colony & when I give them Nip it's HILARIOUS!!! So between my 3 Inside & my 12 Outside, it's a Catnip Party & then they all Crash & Mellow out. Best of Both Worlds, bc when they Play w/ Catnip it Cracks me up!!
However, since there's Cats Born w/out the Catnip Gene who don't react to Catnip (like I mentioned above w/ my 3rd Cat), the Best Thing for those Cats is Valerian Root, which is in the Meowijuana 7 Herb Pawty Mix or their Kalico Kush Blend or you can get a Bag of Powdered Valerian Root & Mix it into your usual Brand of Catnip or I think there's Sellers on Etsy & Ebay who make Blends that include Valerian Root, but they can be REALLY Expensive for a VERY Small Quantity. However, I Promise, you'll be Shocked at the Reaction to any Catnip w/ Valerian Root in it. Haha!! The 7 Herb Pawty Mix has Valerian Root, Catnip, Silvervine, Chamomile, Lavender, Passion Flower & Dandelion Leaf in it. But, if you don't want all those other 1s in your Catnip, then Meowijuana also makes another Blend called "Kalico Kush" & it's just Catnip & Valerian Root (& my Cat Ingo also Loves this 1, as well). The Valerian Root is Key for the Cats who don't React to Regular Catnip, like my Youngest Cat, "Ingo"... Best Part is that the Cats who do react to Catnip will React even more to the Valerian Root. However, the Cat Crack Catnip is Awesome bc it has a Pheromone in it that the Cats can't Resist & you don't need to use alot.
But, I'm always interested in hearing about what Catnip/Catnip Blends others use that they Recommend. Thank you in Advance!! ❤🐾
I had the piece from another pattern but generally I just use a grid ruler to measure.
I purchase my catnip wholesale from a supplier I found. I have tried some of those other ones for my cats though :)

I have 1 more Question about Supplies: Did you say the Ribbon is called Gross Grain or Cross Grain Ribbon?? I have a 60% Hearing Loss so I'm not sure what kind of Ribbon you said. Sorry!! Also, it's a 1/8"-1/4" Width for the Ribbon, too? I just want to make sure I'm Buying the Appropriate Ribbon, that'll hold up well against the Kicking & Biting. 😂

Great tutorial but the cats don't really care about the direction of the fabric lol. They care more about the nip and the ribbons!
The rule is the right way to sew . Some people want to do it correctly no matter what their making.
