    just my little experience. been using the ohlins on my e90 330i almost 3 months from now. love the linear soft springs set up, i am thinking of cutting the clvis plate out in front to drop more for better looks. currently going full soft as i have my wife and kids most of the time and 10 clicks on car meeting.... the quick shocks rebound and distinctive adjustment is why ohlins is so good. it resume the body position so quick so that you have so much confidence in performance driving. no it will not be as comfortable as the pss10 or other progressive springs setup and if u dont drive fast, it will not be good money spent for the rather high price tag. The e9X version of ohlins strut sucks that if has no body length adjustment feature as the later on F30 series...... FYI, I was previous user of BC br racing coilovers, koni yellow with hr springs and bmw yellow performance spring. Hope u enjoy your ohlins everyday !

    Nice detailed video! 👌Compared to stock, how much lower is the car? It looks quite low compared to what Ohlins is stating! Thanks!

      Definitely depends on how you adjust the suspension. I would say at max height an inch lower and lowest two inches. Hard to say as it has been awhile since I installed these. I have the fronts as low as they go and I definitely scrape a lot

    Whats your front wheel spec on the apex rims, I see your running a 255 which is pretty wide.

    Did you trim the rear shock dust boots? Mine keep getting twisted/bunched up around the shock rod. Same kit/car. Just wondering if I should have left them at the length they came...

    • @BYOMotorsport

      I left the rears as is and have had no issues. I've heard of people zip tying around the lower part of the boot to the shock to prevent it from moving also.

    how did you end up liking these ohlins units i want to install on my 135i currently on koni yellow and stock front springs, hr sport rears.. I want something comfortable and sporty when turned up

    • @BYOMotorsport

      Would definitely recommend for street driving. Very comfortable on soft settings and can get a lot stiffer
      My only issue with them is the spring rates are a bit too low for track use. I find myself scraping a lot

      @@BYOMotorsport did you have the ones with the revised rear spring rates Mio1? I Guess they are tuned for a bit more on the comfort side

    • @BYOMotorsport
      @BYOMotorsport  Год назад

      @@M5tubee my issue is with the front springs more so. But apparently if you upgrade them to stiffer springs they’re too strong for the struts and adjusting them doesn’t make a difference anymore
      Unsure if I have the updated ones

    Nice job those ohlins look good. Can the front go lower from what we saw on the video? I wonder if with camber plates it will drop the front more. Basically the more stack on top of the strut the
    higher it will be..

    • @BYOMotorsport
      @BYOMotorsport  3 года назад +1

      The front could go maybe a centimeter lower. From my understanding, camber plates would raise the car as it puts more room between the top of the coilover and the strut mount on the car.

      @@BYOMotorsport I understand what you are saying. If you put the plate over the top hat but I thought you could not use the top hat and swap it for a camber plate like you see on other coilovers . I dont know if that would be possible?

    • @BYOMotorsport
      @BYOMotorsport  3 года назад

      @@L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds I see - yes they make different style camber plates. Some just go on top of the OEM tophat, while others replace it like the ones you're referring to, which would lower the car but I am not sure how much.

      @@BYOMotorsport Yeah cool. The thing is some coil overs lower a lot with the adjustment all the way up and some not as much. For example the bilstein pss10 claims to lower a lot with the stock top hat and at the highest setting. To get more adjustment you would need to get a camber plate over the hat with the pss10 kit. The ohlins I have heard doesnt lower too much. I can see the rear has good adjustability. I would lower that thing all the way If I was you on the front. Anyways I will be waiting to hear what you think of how they ride. The quality is awsome no dought. All aluminum struts and stuff with the dual valve system . I saw that now the kits use a stiffer rear spring, ohlins must of revised it. I read the springs are 400 lb in the front and 680 lb in the back. The springs seem to be linear too. I bought a used rebuilt e90 330i for 3,500 and less than 90,000 miles. I'm fixing it up, got to paint it. I'm going thru the car fixing things and looking for a suspension I might like for the street.

      @@L-Noble.YT_Hi.Res-Soundminds The Ohlins seem to be much more performance oriented rather than looks/lowering. The kit I installed (BMU Mi01) is the revision Ohlins put out that has stiffer spring rates as people were complaining how the initial kit’s springs were too soft. $3,500 is a crazy deal nice find! Take care of the car and it should care of you.

    How do they feel on bumps

      @BYOMotorsport  2 года назад +1

      You can definitely feel the majority of bumps on the road but it's rather soft and not uncomfortable.
