My aunt has been married to one of Chris' brothers since I was a kid and Chris has always been such an awesome dude, of course one hell of a shredder too as you can see 👏
I saw recently Chris live (free of charge) at a bar called "the Landing Bar" in Minot, North Dakota on a night when I had to wake up at 6am the next day. He started his show at 9pm, after his first song he said, "thank you we will be playing till 1am tonight." and I immediately realized I was gonna be insanely tired for work, because there was no way in hell I was leaving. AMAZING LIVE PERFORMER! Passion and talent of all to ever touch a guitar before him. RUclips just doesn't do justice.
That is a lucky find in Minot. I lived there a couple of years ago. The landing gets good stuff every now and then. I've paid $20+ to see Chris in Charlotte.
insane energy!!! my first time hearing chris and i’m so happy to have discovered him now. really original attitude. where i come from people can get in trouble with the law for what he did to that guitar…
Just saw Chris Duarte Group last Friday in Kansas City's Knuckleheads Saloon. The man is just a ball of musical energy and fire! He wowed us for over 2 hours, and made me just glow with his guitar and vocals. If you have not seen him live, you owe it to yourself to see him. Thanks CDG for a great Friday Night!
A Guitar Hero...for dam sure ! Chris is a Beast...one of my very Favorite "Soulful" players in the world. Thanks to Chris Duartes beautful sounding Strat and his wicked Skills ! And thanks to Don Odell for the Video...!
Awesome jazzy blues fusion and fantastic drumming too, with the bass enjoying every minute of it like I was. Damn, I need some of that coffee the guitarist drank. Cheers nice gig!
Ummm, I just found Chris Duarte because Johnny Hiland said in a video when it came to the blues, he liked listening to Chris, and now I know why. Not many musical performances fall into the "what the hell just happened here" category for me; this was one of them.
Saw him up close at Hugh’s Room in Toronto a few years ago. It was an incendiary performance. Surprised the walls are still standing. Some people have music in their veins. Chris is definitely one of them.
Chris is a great artist, never compromised though Im sure he was asked and prodded to be more comercial many times, but he stuck to his own thing, and probably is a little less known about than he should be. Ive known he was a monster for many many years, nice to see hes still playing his brand of quirky, but great blues. Would love to play that blue guitar, the hours that thing must have on it, its been his 'main axe' for years and years. The stories it must be able to tell...lol. Keep rocking on Chris, sounds great brother.
If you want to take a trip down to Florida, you can come down here and play it. Cuz I own it now, and I want to share it with anybody that shares the same respect I have for Chris.
i just heard Chris Duarte on Joe Bonamassa show on Planet rock radio, i can,t believe i,ve never heard of him before, i thought i was clued up on who,s who in blues music.
I came across him on I heart radio. the wife and I went to see him in Bastrop TX. There was a very small crowd. I kinda helped them with getting equipment out of the van. He was pretty cool. But man that guy can wail on that guitar. It has been about 2.5 years. Rady to go see him again.
I first heard Chris Duarte, in Virgin shop in London in 1995-6....I was shocked....bought the album, heard it thousand times. One of the best guitarist in the SRV/Hendrix style....great inspiration for me as a guitarist, unsurpassed way of rythmic mixed with solo.....
Dam Jimmy...thought you were gone but there you are....of course. saw you in San Jose in the late 60's, outdoor show...The top of the Live show world for certain....Thanks Mr. Jimmy !
A close friend and Audiophile has been mentioning Chris Duarte for quite a few years. Today I finally checked him out. This is my first introduction to him. I “play” guitar, now again I question whether I play or just Suck? Well I w terrain myself. Chris can entertain the Masses. He is awesome, so welcome me to the Chris Duarte fan club. Oh and Peace to all of you
Heard this album when it came out next day went ordered it from local music shop yeah we used have places sold music in them go figure. That was a kickin' CD.
Wow...Chris can twang that Strat...or whatever it is...and the the effects are brilliant, this Man can Sling some Riffs...big Riffin , Very Cool. Thanks Chris.
Chris Duarte, is the man.. how did I only discover this guy recently. These legends videos are incredible. Thanks for the posts letter to my girlfriend...CDG style is amazing check it ! Cheers ! Keep'n the blues alive Chris Duarte
Chris is a national treasure: How could anyone get that good at guitar? His fingers never stop moving, and, of course, he never has to look, something I still have to do after playing for 40 years. Now for an off-the-wall comment: I'm down to just three guitars, all red. Which make me puzzled by Chris's choice of colors for his axes: one is "gold flake." Holy cow! Gold flake; never even heard of it. This beat-to-hell Strat is what? Camomille Green? Dark-olive Green? Shoebox Green? Why, Chris, why? He has gold and green guitars. Maybe that's why he's a mad genius and I'm just a Guitar Center wanker; see you there Saturday when my unrequested concert begins. (The workers there hate me: They always ask me to turn down, but why should I? The Marshall goes to 10. Use it or lose it, I say.)
Haha the guitar he's playing in the video is ice blue, from Xotic guitars.... Which I now (very proudly) own... I suggest you check out Xotic, they are extremely addictive to play.. the flamboyant colors certainly add to Chris's Mystic and unique character that's for sure LOL
yep, I'm old now your right, now I like a clean sound with music that has some interesting changes, I was a big stevie ray vaughn fan. Chris is good, I followed him for a long time, just busting chops.
I met him once in Abilene, Texas. He walked into a music store my son and I were browsing. My son was around 7-years old then. Chris sat down near us, picked up a strat and we were in awe. Then walked in Ted Nugent. Wish I had some cash then to ask you both sign a strat. Instead you both signed the back of my T-shit which has long faded.
I'm a pretty tolerant dude. I love music pure and simple. Blues in particular, especially guitar driven blues. But I'm going to say flat out, the 6 people that actively did not like this have no conception of music, musicianship, or talent therein. No hate intended, just a statement of fact.
Is that a pedal effect making that crying sound? Never heard it sound like that, except when pressing on the whammy, but he's not - Wow! The ending has that John McLaughlin fusion sound, Keep it coming Chris! Great Post!!!!
Chris uses a lot of funk style in his singing and playing. The man truly lived his blues - he kicked heroin and still smokes on stage. Modern guitar freaks need to check him out and others in the blues vein, like Walter Trout, Ronnie Earl, Duke Robillard, the late Gary Moore (still can't believe he's gone), Joe Louis Walker, James Hunter (not mind-blowing, but very tasty fills and a great R&B style vocalist), Albert Cummings, Debbie Davies, Coco Montoya and Tommy Castro.
Saw Chris a couple years ago at Uncle Bo's in Topeka Ks. Awesome show. He had a different band than this playing behind him but these guys are just as awesome
+Gustavo Souza I hate when people say that about Chris. He can go in so many directions at the drop of a hat. He's by far, way more versed the Stevie was. Stevie hardly ever wrote a single song. Chris drips with songs every night.
My aunt has been married to one of Chris' brothers since I was a kid and Chris has always been such an awesome dude, of course one hell of a shredder too as you can see 👏
This is one of many reasons why I continually search for music. My life is better because of this.
Yes! Exactly! Same here! And comments like yours resonate and make others see that kindred spirits exist out there.
Truth.
Saw Chris D. twice at the "Magic Bag" Ferndale, MI. Holy S...t!
😅you’re right 🙏🏼👍🏻👊🏼💪🏼🎼🎼🎼🎸🎸🎸🎸
I always catch Chris in Buffalo at Sportsman tavern. . He never disappoints!

Lmao if he told me he's playing to 1am I'd tip him on the spot
And I'd stay
insane energy!!! my first time hearing chris and i’m so happy to have discovered him now. really original attitude. where i come from people can get in trouble with the law for what he did to that guitar…
First thing I have ever seen by Chris
Instant fan
Man, that was good!
Such a crisp and in your face kind of tone, so dry and really no room for error with a sound setup like his. Really shows his musicianship.
A Guitar Hero...for dam sure ! Chris is a Beast...one of my very Favorite "Soulful" players in the world. Thanks to Chris Duartes beautful sounding Strat and his wicked Skills ! And thanks to Don Odell for the Video...!
1st song on a search, local radio has a blues show, new fan here! good radio does exist!
Awesome jazzy blues fusion and fantastic drumming too, with the bass enjoying every minute of it like I was. Damn, I need some of that coffee the guitarist drank. Cheers nice gig!
Thanks for the memories, back from when guys could actually play their instruments, back when that mattered.
That was like some heavy duty John Coltrane stuff at the end WOW!!
Ummm, I just found Chris Duarte because Johnny Hiland said in a video when it came to the blues, he liked listening to Chris, and now I know why. Not many musical performances fall into the "what the hell just happened here" category for me; this was one of them.
RobTackettCovers Awesome! What video did Hiland say this on?
Had Chris come play a local festival many, many years ago. Blew us away, been a fan ever since.
Saw him up close at Hugh’s Room in Toronto a few years ago. It was an incendiary performance. Surprised the walls are still standing. Some people have music in their veins. Chris is definitely one of them.

I know he's not a big fan of Bonamassa. And I don't think it's his skills.
If you want to take a trip down to Florida, you can come down here and play it. Cuz I own it now, and I want to share it with anybody that shares the same respect I have for Chris.
the video becomes legendary after the 7 minute mark...genius
Very good drummer! And Chris is fabulous as always
I was thinking like he's only as good as the band and I thought drummer ...but then I saw your comment as I scrolled
i just heard Chris Duarte on Joe Bonamassa show on Planet rock radio, i can,t believe i,ve never heard of him before, i thought i was clued up on who,s who in blues music.

Excellent !
So much passion and emotion...awesome!! You can't fake that shit!!
I have no clue what I just heard on the last part of the solo.....but it was amazing!!!!!
Saw him in the early '90's at the Fine Line in Mpls. One of the most amazing live performances I've ever seen.
My good Lord! I saw Chris in 2011 in Key West. At the end, i couldn't talk. I was sooo shocked. One of the best memories i have.
He’s playing @ Granada Theater 6/5 on my bday think I will treat myself🤗Instant fan too
Love me some Chris. Saw him live in Austin. Absolutely smoking!
Dam Jimmy...thought you were gone but there you are....of course. saw you in San Jose in the late 60's, outdoor show...The top of the Live show world for certain....Thanks Mr. Jimmy !

Saw him play at a small bar id Des Moines, Iowa. Absolutely awesome! He gave me a pick.
Sick...Only got into his tunes recently. Great Stuff!
I've seen Chris a couple of times. He is an amazing player; probably one of the BEST i've seen

YEAH BABY! Just found out he is playing live very close to my hometown and for free (ala pass the hat).
yep, I'm old now your right, now I like a clean sound with music that has some interesting changes, I was a big stevie ray vaughn fan. Chris is good, I followed him for a long time, just busting chops.
Absolutely Class !!
Este chavo toca súper bien. Nunca lo había escuchado.... Muy bien Chris
A W E SO M E very good masterwork go on like this way.
Wonderfully done. Makes me want to get up and dance.
I found a gem here.
I met him once in Abilene, Texas. He walked into a music store my son and I were browsing. My son was around 7-years old then. Chris sat down near us, picked up a strat and we were in awe. Then walked in Ted Nugent. Wish I had some cash then to ask you both sign a strat. Instead you both signed the back of my T-shit which has long faded.
love his style. holy shit. can hear the stevie but he has his own style and I commend him on the tone and ideas for his songs.
He came to Rochester quite a bit.. haven't seen him in awhile
Probably the best rhythm section for Chris.
Legend
Executive Surf Club CC Tx Lots of bands liked the south Tx coast He sounded just like SRV live & yes I saw SRV play at a bar in CC Tx also
I'm a pretty tolerant dude. I love music pure and simple. Blues in particular, especially guitar driven blues. But I'm going to say flat out, the 6 people that actively did not like this have no conception of music, musicianship, or talent therein. No hate intended, just a statement of fact.
Saw you in St. Charles, IL a few times. Amazing
Genius
Great player! a lot like SRV Hendrix Clapton Stevie via all mixed into one... there just looking at him like????? (amazing)
some tasty stuff
Yowza! Me likey. Chris is .... can't find the words.
Is that a pedal effect making that crying sound? Never heard it sound like that, except when pressing on the whammy, but he's not - Wow! The ending has that John McLaughlin fusion sound, Keep it coming Chris! Great Post!!!!
He’s always looking for new sonds

F,ning Awesome
Not only does Chris smoke on guitar. He is a regular stand up guy. He remembers me every time I see him.
Chris is so underrated - the only upside is I can still see him at the Hub in Cedar Falls, Iowa
One of the other videos of this concert said he filmed it while on tour in New England on Sept 7, 2010.
Oh yeah - also Michael Hill, Popa Chubby and Eric Sardinas. How could I have forgotten those guys?
Saw Chris a couple years ago at Uncle Bo's in Topeka Ks. Awesome show. He had a different band than this playing behind him but these guys are just as awesome

O CARA É MUITO, MUITO PHÔDA...
First time and not the last
Have mercy on me! That's a brown note!
Saw him in Omaha in the 90's. He can definitely burn down the house!
He and Matt Nandi (indigenous) used to be regulars at the Pomp Room in Sioux Falls. A really nice guy and a great guitarist
F'n A! Right on Chris! Way to stretch yourself.
Got to see him rock out Frankie's Patio in Tampa. Twice. Dude kills it.
listen Chrsis Duarte is traveling in SRV
+Gustavo Souza
I hate when people say that about Chris. He can go in so many directions at the drop of a hat. He's by far, way more versed the Stevie was. Stevie hardly ever wrote a single song. Chris drips with songs every night.
alright he wrote way more then a single song man
SRV was his primary influence by Duarte loved jazz. He used to figure out jazz sax solos on guitar.
