    This Video provides an explanation on how to install a Car Audio Battery, or a secondary battery in an vehicle. The purpose of this battery is to help reduce the tendency of dimming lights and electrical draws as some amplifiers require large amounts of amperage. This upgrade may be effective in helping with the possible issues.

      So, currently have an 07 Civic Hybrid. I know it has a DC/DC converter instead of your typical alternator. So, how would I go about running a second battery in the trunk? I don't like running everything off the 12v under the hood.

      @@reyesjose214 yes it will definitely kill both your batteries w/ this typical way of installing a 2nd battery! I'm going to be installing my 2nd battery sometime this week cuz I JUST received my Stinger battery isolator today, (THIS is the part that is missing in this style of install, that will allow you to be confident that you will never have a dead car battery to start your car w/!) You can get an 80Amp stinger like I just received on Amazon for just some pocket change more than $15 greenbacks! Then the installation is more or less the same layout & same amount of wire needed etc, etc..... Just 1 ignition sourced ground location is your only other step involved in an isolator set up... FYI, if you have an extra $20 you can live parting ways w/I'd advise you to go the isolator route, if for nothing else, just piece of mind knowing you'll NVR need to stress bout weather or not your ride's going to start or not (due to audio installation issues that is) cuz you let your stereo play for a few minutes after the engine is shut off.... just MHO....To each their own of course....

      Yeah, I hear you about the warranty. I would definitely check on that b4 doing any modifications. I'm not an install professional but upgrading your "big 3" makes a big difference with your voltage. If you can't install like a 300 amp alternator see if you can upgrade the big 3. Which is replacing 3 main cables on your vehicle. The batt ground to the chassis, the chassis to the engine block, & the alternator plus to the batt plus. You'll go from 4 ga to 0/1. Plus a capacitor tends to help as well. I'd say go for 1 farad for every 1K Watts of RMS. I know a little bit but it would be better to talk to a pro. I don't know what you're running but good luck and keep the dB's up 😁

    • @ProvoBeastAudio

      For starters, it depends on how many amps you are pulling as the alternator is charging those batteries. So to answer your question, yes. Battery Isolator is good when you want to listen to the radio while the car is off. This is so that if you listen to the radio for too long, the car will still start. If you only listen while driving or the car is running there is no benefit to it. For me it is useful as I have a van and like to hangout in the van and listen to music without the engine running. If I fall asleep or leave the radio on by accident, I know that the van will still start up when I want to drive away.

    The issue I have with this set up is you are not using a amp relay. So if the amp battery is low it will cause the main battery to drain down to equalize. It's not that big of a deal but it will cause your primary battery to fail much faster then if you had a relay. Stinger makes relays for cheap

    Hi guys. Great video. I'm learning everything i need to know to install 2 new amps in my car. (my old amp finally died) My sub amp has 2 zero gauge power and ground hook ups. My mid range amp has one 4 gauge hook up for each. (DD audio M4b and SS4b)
    I'm running zero gauge and upgrading fuses. My previous installer had run the ground wire all the way from under my engine bay to my 2nd battery in the trunk. Was that a waste of wire? Your video here makes running new zero gauge ground wire from the engine bay to the trunk battery look unnecessary. I would appreciate some reassurance that for my application it's ok to ground closer to the trunk somewhere. thanks.

    • @yellobelly420
      @yellobelly420 4 года назад +2

      You'd be better running a ground from battery to battery as long as its gauge is think enough to support the current. Copper is more conductive the steel! Also should eliminate posible grounding issues
