Been converting and working with VHS era hardware all my life. Bonus Tips: -Don't have depth of field. Shallow depth of field wasn't widely available, nor was it popular till 2008 or so. Before then, it only really showed up on high end cameras. High F number and deep depth of field is the way. -Add a small, white line on the right side of the screen only a pixel or two wide. If it's annoying, stretch out the last pixels on the right side to 3-8 pixels. This is a universal artifact of the magnetic strip from camcorders. (If you're trying to replicate a handheld camcorder, not a 200,000$ studio Hollywood camera.) -Drop the fish eye. Completely. -Play with color and contrast more. In magnetic tape, greens are dull, reds are shallow, and blues can become nearly nonexistent unless strong. - _Do not use any form of cinematic color correction or LUTS!_ The handheld camcorder/VHS look is hallmarked by it's nostalgic raw feel. Nothing ruins that like spiking your green highs, orange mids and finishing it off with a stereotypical teal shadow pass. This is "found footage" not a vlog from 2017. Bonus tip. if you ever try interlacing your footage, always draw the bottoms, (even numbers) first, then the tops. 99% of hardware records like this.
@@Error-js7dp Interlacing is where it records to the video on even-numbered scan lines the first frame, then odd-numbered scan lines the second frame, and so on and so forth, creating the illusion of a higher framerate where there is none.

Hi, can you tell me how to make the same smooth effect for a dirty lens as for a camera? I want the lens to follow the camera movement with a slight delay, like a weapon in half-life 2, but I started getting involved in Unreal Engine not so long ago, looked at a couple of settings, tried to make a blueprint, but didn’t come to anything. I think it would look cool. Ps. Thanks you for your awesome content, few people show it so quickly and clearly. Good luck with the channel and keep making great content)
I want to know how could I say make the camera look like it has dirt on it when in front of a light? Kinda like the guy who made a yet vid on how to make a backrooms horror game in unity! It has I think 12 parts but one is soully based on lighting and fx. I want it in unreal engine
why on earth would you put it in level blueprint? why put anything in level blueprint? it's much better to have it in it's own blueprint or attach it to the character.
Instead of using the Level Blueprint to add the blur, instead do the same but in your Player Character Event Graph!
I'm new to UE so I'm not sure how to do that yet. Thanks for the awesome tutorial! Worked perfectly =)

what do you mean by interlacing your footage?

what to do about the fact that the image quality suffers greatly from the bodycam effect?
You could add a sharpen material and set the value to about 0.5
