Everybody in the entire building know Bird gonna get the ball, but he too clutch. These are the type of plays he did consistently throughout his career. You gotta react to his 49 point triple double against the Portland Trailblazers during the final year of his career when is back was wet tissue paper. He hits the most ridiculous 3 to send the game into OT, then seals the win. Great reaction!!

Jordan and Pipen had to wait for all the other greats to get out of the way so that they could win championships. It took Jordan 7 years to win a championship. Magic did it in his first season and Bird did it in his second season. It's one of the reasons why there is a debate if Jordan is the G.O.A.T.

    • @spitnificent
      @spitnificent 2 года назад +2

Everyone waits for their turn. It’s funny how people kill Jordan for not having great teams early against better teams with established championship pedigrees. He learned from the best and applied it when it was his turn to reign, stayed and preserved through adversity, and ended up with a perfect record on the main stage.

    • @BronxGummer
      @BronxGummer 2 года назад +7

@@spitnificent We all understand Jordan is great and we all respect him. G.O.A.T. status is very special. Bird did not join the Celtics with a bench full of superstars. Magic won a title in his first year. Larry Bird had to defeat Kareem, Magic, Copper, Worthy and Dr. J, and Hakeem Olajuwon and Dominique Wilkins and Lambier with Isiah Thomas. And let's not forget - Michael Jordan with Pipen. He may have been young, but Jordan is Jordan - unbelievable gifted - but that is not the only thing that is required to have G.O.A.T. status. I'm not beating up on Jordan, I'm just stating a fact - Bird and Magic went up agains a league full of greats and won a title quickly. Jordan being much more skilled then them - didn't do it for 7 years. Look at Tom Brady - at 43 with a new team wins the Super Bowl. He only took one or two guys with him. That is an example of G.O.A.T. status. We love Jordan and respect him.

I laugh, too, every time I watch Bird rise up over BOTH Pippen and Jordan and hit that game-winner! (They tried to do the right thing..) Bird had 33 of them in his career ('game-winners', not buzzer-beater) and give Jordan credit for 29 in his longer career--and give me Larry in the clutch over everybody, everytime, with the trash-talk to boot! Jordan was not allowed to win in the Bird-Magic era of the 80s-CelticsvLakers--they were the show--they were the teams--that was the rivalry. Bird dominated Jordan--that wasn't any rivalry whatsoever. Jordan learned he was gonna have to take a backseat for the first half of his career to the guys and teams that played championship, team basketball--winning basketball. Bird could have gone out and got 30 any night--but he wanted a team that would win titles, so he knew he would have to get everyone involved--that is why his Celtics dominated Jordan's Bulls.

Michael Jordan has the eternal record of more points in only 15 regular seasons in the NBA and won 6 titles (40%).
Jordan is the NBA GOAT with this fact written in stone for decades to come.
LeBron and others made more points *in more than 15 regular seasons*.
My respect to LeBron James for playing more than 20 seasons and his record for more than 40,000 points in the NBA.
LeBron is spending 1,5 million per year in his training and nutrition, but he lost the opportunity to beat Jordan's record in 15 regular seasons.
LeBron didn't win 6 titles in even 20 regular seasons (2003-2023).
Larry Bird and Magic Johnson chose Michael Jordan as the GOAT, for many reasons and the plays they witnessed.
Wilt was tall and athletic but he did not collect 22 NBA awards like Michael Jordan.
What would have happened if MJ didn't retire in 1993? More titles...
Phil Jackson thinks the GOAT is Michael Jordan.
    ruclips.net/video/qlLOc_xRb_c/видео.html
    Phil Jackson won 11 rings:
. 6 rings with Chicago Bulls & Michael Jordan, and
. 5 rings with Lakers & Kobe Bryant.
    *The NBA GOAT*
Ranking for Points Per Game in his career:
    1.Michael Jordan
    30.12 points
    2.Wilt Chamberlain
    30.07 points
    3.Luka Dončić
    28.40 points
    4.Joel Embiid
    27.85 points
The NBA single-game points record is currently held by Wilt Chamberlain who scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks in 1962.
Bill Russell only has 17 awards, including 11 NBA championship rings.
    Jordan has 22 awards.
Dropping microphone right here (enough facts).
MVP 6 times in 6 NBA Finals and won 6 titles in only 15 regular seasons.
Jordan has 6 NBA champion rings (6 MVP in those finals), 5 times MVP of the regular season, 3 MVPs of the All Star, 1 time named the best defender of the year, 1 time the rookie of the year and other awards.
Jordan was the NBA's leading scorer 10 times from 1986 to 1993...he left the NBA for one year and then got the same award from 1995 to 1998.
In the 86-87 season he had the best score with 37.1 points per game.
Wilt Chamberlain holds the record for most points scored in a season with 4,029 (1961-62). Wilt Chamberlain was 7 times the top scorer.
Michael Jordan is the other player than score at least 3,000 points in 1 season (Chamberlain accomplished that 3 times).
The 5 MVP of the regular season of Michael Jordan *is tied with Bill Russell* (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has 6 MVPs of regular season in his Hall of Fame career with the Bucks and Lakers).
Dropping the mic right here, again...
Jordan made most points, Pipen was a great part of the Chicago Bulls legend and Rodman did most rebounds with full heart.

If you take out the transcendently great Bird and Jordan and then pull from both these teams, IMHO you pick Reggie Lewis, Dennis Johnson, McHale, Parish, Pippen. Doing so you get a 1 would-have-been-a-Hall-of-Famer, 4- Hall-of-Famer team. Could that team have been competitive in today's league playing the half court or the triangle and without switching to shooting many, many threes? Or has strategy, and the game, evolved too much?

That 63 point game Jordan still lost though, 63 points don't matter if you still lose the game. Plus Bird got three MVPs in a row, Jordan never did that, only three players have ever done that, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird.

For the record, Jordan was always going nuts. This is just before there were enough pieces on the team to start winning finals. Jordan was in his prime here, the Bulls just weren't quite there. Bird and Jordan were both completely unstoppable, they just did it in different ways.
Edit: Bird was past his prime here. I think this was after his double Achilles surgery, and well into his spine deteriorating. That left-handed floater is something he used more late in his career when his mobility had diminished a lot.
