Jordan had already been going crazy for quite a while by '89. He'd already had two scoring titles including his 37.1 average in '87 which was the highest season average of the decade. His 35 point average in '88 I believe was #2 behind his own '87 mark. He already had 2x first team all NBA awards, 4 all star appearances, an all star game MVP, a league MVP and a DPOY. He was already the best player on the planet by then.
Don’t forget 2 things.. Larry won 3 straight league MVP’s and beat every great player of his era in the playoffs. Name another player other than Bill Russel who beat every great player in their era. Not Magic, not Jordan, not Lebron… nobody did that!!!
If you take out the transcendently great Bird and Jordan and then pull from both these teams, IMHO you pick Reggie Lewis, Dennis Johnson, McHale, Parish, Pippen. Doing so you get a 1 would-have-been-a-Hall-of-Famer, 4- Hall-of-Famer team. Could that team have been competitive in today's league playing the half court or the triangle and without switching to shooting many, many threes? Or has strategy, and the game, evolved too much?
This is poorly titled. Bird wasnt destroying Jordan and Pippen. There are plenty of plays in this vid where Jordan is dunking on Bird and Pippen is shooting his jumper.

@@madcapper6 and yet no championship until 1991
1:53 that was Pippen, not Jordan.
Don’t forget 2 things.. Larry won 3 straight league MVP’s and beat every great player of his era in the playoffs. Name another player other than Bill Russel who beat every great player in their era. Not Magic, not Jordan, not Lebron… nobody did that!!!
He might have been out there but it didn't win the game Bird is the goat ☘️☘️☘️😂☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️😂😂😂😂☘️
You’re definitely Bird’s biggest fan
That attitude of naw man chill out it’s one loose ball one regular season game is why sports today kinda suck.
Yeah… I noticed that right when I said it
If you take out the transcendently great Bird and Jordan and then pull from both these teams, IMHO you pick Reggie Lewis, Dennis Johnson, McHale, Parish, Pippen.
No there was somebody called DT J before jorden
he ended game on both lol
No. Then no chill out. All assassins then. Always 100% every game. No f’n load management etc.
Really nice to see MJ fail. I would love to see more fails because I don't really remember him fail. He's still the GOAT though but it's good to see him being human for once.
Right… you would think he was a god and never missed a shot the way the media portrays MJ
I'm not sure I would want Bird to be my dad...I'm not sure at all...
You must be young. All these "men" were brought up by a tougher bunch named dad.
Larry Legend Is the only one MJ never got the best of MJ would beat Luka up and Bird would beat both there asses 🤣🤣😂
Love your enthusiasm but if you think Jordan was the first to bring athleticism and fundamental skills to basketball, you need to watch a LOT of earlier NBA players, such as Dr. J and Pistol Pete...
They're not telling how Michael Jordan has 63 points against bird and how many championships did Larry have I know I ain't have nowhere near Six so who really got destroyed bird is not the goat Michael Jordan is
I just watched MJ get 63 on Bird here:

That 63 point game Jordan still lost though, 63 points don't matter if you still lose the game. Plus Bird got three MVPs in a row, Jordan never did that, only three players have ever done that, Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlain and Larry Bird.
@@andrewft31 that was jest his second year and he didn't have anybody that was good on that team then the Celtics had for Hall of Famers on that team you wasn't even born
Link to awesome Bird passing video. 😎 ruclips.net/video/CExjzyTRxnQ/видео.html
Hmmmm sounds like a good one for my next video🤔
Jordan never beat Bird in the playoffs
Not sure if this is part of Bird's 6 game '89 season....or just after. So, this was either right before, or right after Bird had double foot surgery. Definitely not at 100%...or even 80%.
.still can't stop Bird. 😄
Bird keeps moving further up my GOAT list
@@MarcTheSparcTV I warn everyone not to watch Larry play toooo much.
Messes up everything. 😄
@@rustydaboyrobot 😂 for real
Hilarious bird did em both beat Hakeem magics Dr j Isiah lol lol 🤣😁🤣😁 Larry legend
Scottie Pippen is not under rated, he his overrated, James worthy on bulls? They ain't winning 6
Today's game is sissy, u have too much time n space to shoot n no one can touch u, I wonder I'm watching wnba nowadays. I'm very in doubt that shooters now be able to shoot at ease in the 80s.
Stop with your current era bs comparisons. No one today or a few years ago could match them then. No comps!!!
Hey clown. How many playoff games did Jordan win against Bird? 0
Had Reggie lewis lived he would have been an amazing player, just getting into his own. He was the most successful against Michael Jordan.
For the record, Jordan was always going nuts. This is just before there were enough pieces on the team to start winning finals. Jordan was in his prime here, the Bulls just weren't quite there. Bird and Jordan were both completely unstoppable, they just did it in different ways.
Edit: Bird was past his prime here. I think this was after his double Achilles surgery, and well into his spine deteriorating. That left-handed floater is something he used more late in his career when his mobility had diminished a lot.
