Larry Bird Hits Game Winner Over Michael Jordan: ruclips.net/video/qm3SLnRSYyY/видео.html
I'm pretty sure Bird is foulng him ...Because of the foul that guy did on McHale!
Do you know what's worse than any angry Jordan - an Angry Bird!
In this game game the Bulls had 3 players who scored in double digits out of 9 players who played
The Celtics had 6 players who scored in double digits out of 9 players who played.
In the end, it's a team game. Bird's Celtics were 6-0 against Jordan and the Bulls in the playoffs.
In the 1961-1962 season Wilt Chamberlain averaged 50.4 points a game over the entire season but his team still lost 31 games.
Btw: it took MJ *2 OT* to beat Larry’s *regulation* 60pt record.
Back then, in the world of real basketball, you TOOK charges. Meaning yes you anticipated it and set your feet. Perfectly legit.
"So Bird was doing it before Dirk."
Bird was doing it before there was a 3 point line. In fact one of the things Bird didn't like about the implementation of the 3 point line was he said nobody would practice shooting from farther than the line. But Bird - and a lot of other guys who had played without a 3 point line - did have range beyond where the line would later be drawn. I guess nowadays, with 3 pointers being so common, some guys likely practice from farther out as a way to make shots from on the line feel easier.
That makes Bird even more respectable
The 3 point line came in Birds rookie year in the NBA
Michael played an extraordinary game. Legendary. Not enough to beat Bird and the Celtics. That was a mountain too high to climb in 1986.
😅it’s true… well said
MJ and Bird. I had season tickets this year, but didn't get to this game. One of my all time regrets, LOL. Two of the greatest who ever ever laced up the sneakers in the day.... Great reaction!!
Thanks… that’s tragic for you though
Mike is 0 against Larry and the celtics
@@DL-tp2nr Larry is like the only person who can say that
This Celtics team was such fun to watch! But all the credit for the team dynamics goes entirely to Larry. He led the way.
That Bird lay-up at @04:46 was beautiful! He knew the defender (was that MJ? can't really read the number :P ) was coming in high, so he went to the scoop lay-in from down low.
Didn't have no one... he had plenty... he just hadn't learned to play unselfishly... something he actually NEVER learned. Bird learned at tiny Indiana State how to make scrubs go 33-0, and it wasn't by scoring ALL the points (although he could have.)
That’s true… Jordan wasn’t perfect… he needed other players and a coach to start winning
Check the difference: the Celtics's starters were all in double-digits, only 3 for the Bulls, and Oakley had 10.
Also, Bird got the assist for the +4, while Jordan forced the tough shots.
He needed Phil Jackson to teach him how to play in a team to win.
(And Bird to retire? :P )
I mean, when Bird retired, Jordan thanked God that Bird was finally out of his way. Probably the nicest thing Jordan ever said about a competitor lol.
@@Orphim Agreed.
I guess you COULD argue that Bird's body was breaking down more and more and the Celtics were drifting away from the top, so, if he had retired later Jordan could've fixed that record.
But that's a whole bunch of "what ifs" and we've seen '91 Bird still cooking Oakley and the Bulls.
63 pts. Nice individual stat.
Too bad it's a team sport. With a Larry run team, MJ has no shot.
Well said
John Paxton's brother Jim played on the Celtics from 88-90
You are hilarious, man 🤣. My favorite reactor!!
W comment 👍🏾
Orlando Woolridge came to my hometown (Treviso, Italy) and played for Benetton after he retired from the NBA. He enjoyed his "anonimity" here, I remember seeing him walking with his wife around my town, took a picture together. I still have his autograph somewhere. The greatest guy, family man, hard working, big smile, great athlete, amazing talent.
Great story
Bird not only contributed with points but with getting other people points too! MJ tried to do it himself, he didn’t share the ball.
Not that he didn't share the ball, he didn't have any help in the defense. That Chicago Bulls team was 20s - 50s before Jordan.
Pre NBA jordan, under Bob Knight, had a relatively high assist stat. For the finals game against Spain at halftime alone, Jordan played 12/20 mins and he had 19 pts 11 rebounds 9 assists. That same Olympics team won all 8 games vs NBA all stars (Bird, Parrish, McHale, I Thomas, Magic, Drexler etc), the US team had MJ Ewing Perkins and some other college students.
IF MJ had help w/ the offense, w/ MJs mindset of doing anything he can to win, do you honestly believe he would hog the ball?
@@clay1108 yes I do
Yeah, you know better...
@@clay1108 mate, I know fuck all, I’m an old white guy in Australia who never got into basketball. I’m a sports fan so I know about it. Watching Larry bird videos on RUclips made me become a basketball fan! I don’t watch all games but try to catch the Celtics games or at least keep myself updated on the score. They usually play while I’m working or sleeping. I got a Celtics cap and a tshirt too, lol! ❤️🇦🇺
Danny A pissed MJ off the day before this game by beating him at golf and winning money off MJ. His Celtics team mates told Danny he couldn't play golf with MJ
yes, Kevin Mchale scored that bucket with his butt on the floor. The post play king. They were worried about his footwork and crazy long arms, and forgot about his butt play.
😅
In game 3 Jordan was held to 15. And Boston brought out the broom
Noone remembrs that lol
44 (CHI) /59 (BOS) rebounds seems to be a big factor.
If I remember right, Woolridge was the Bulls's best player before MJ was drafted?
I’ve heard there was NO FOUL by Kevin, but Jordan faked it & a ref fell for it. We never actually saw any foul in this clip, but @13:02 Tommy Heinsohn says Jordan faked it…I’ve watched the full game & I didn’t see a foul there either. 🤷♀️
And this was against one of the Top 5 teams of all time - Bird said he was God disguised as Michael Jordan
At about 5:00 you say mj had nobody on his team.
When he came in to it that teams stats barely rippled. He made NO IMPACT on its performance. They had to spend 8 years and buy pippen and thst' nigga rodman that got cooked by bird' before MJ even came close to winning a title. Without a suprteam mj was nothing.
When Bird joined the celtics that SAME SQUAD went from being a 29-53 side to a 60 win team. The difference? Larry. Joe. Bird. Won a title HIS SECOND YEAR in the NBA.
Against a team consisting of magic, kareem, worthy and cooper...
Theres only one GOAT.
Bird.
You just saw why the 86 Celtics were a great team. They were balanced and deep. Scott Wedman didn't even play. He was a sharpshooter. MJ was coming!!!!
That balance is rare these days… usually teams are top heavy
@@MarcTheSparcTV The difference between a really good team and a great team!
Bird knew that there is no I in team. Jordan never beat Bird .
On for do fo 20 Micheal smoked the record...hats off against one of the all-time greatest teams.....salute. It would not be his time then but you could see a goat on the horizon running towards the league. Bull GOAT head butt.
@05:30 the hit on McHales head came from MJ, he got him with the elbow going down :P Dunno why the commentators said Corzine :P (Perhaps the original foul, and Jordan got the follow-up hit :D )
MJ’s traveling cocaine circus teammates didn’t stand a chance against that Celtics squad which is known as one of the greatest teams of all time with five hall of famers and already established championship culture. MJ lost to the best early and dominated the best when it was his turn to reign.
Lol Jordan was really the only player on that team and turned the whole franchise around
Early in Jordan's career he did not need to get double teamed because the Bulls were awful. Jordan can average 35 on a bad team. The Jordan we all know happened 6 years into his career. He was "overrated" until then.
Yeah… winning changes everything
Back in the day, Jordan and Dominique were both highlight scorers that would go nowhere in the playoffs. They were interchangeable... until Phill Jackson.
Thought you should know, Marc, this isn't the first game that Jordan put up 60 + points on Boston. Just a year or two earlier Jordan put up 60 thinking that THAT'd win the game. It didn't. Just like this game.
The fact that they won means they didn’t ‘have’ to double him.
Yeah that’s actually a decent strategy too
Do I detect a burn? 🔥 🤔
Lol cool reaction, got the feeling you were expecting the bulls to win this replay of their loss .
Lol nah I was just surprised at how they loss… MJ was going off
back then.. a foul on a three point shot was only two foul shots. ..
I'm pretty sure the only reason Jordan has such respect for Bird is because that's a guy he could never beat....even when he was playing with a broken back! The last time they faced up ...Jordan had Pippen on the team... still came back and the Celtics won!!! Larry Bird was not in great shape then!
ICEMAN Alert! 14:03
Best big 3 of all time and I don't want to hear it. I was there and have been here since. Michael was always great, no shade. Boston had a better team with elite players in the 80s. Jordan is top 2 but no one could handle that pressure, not even LeBron. Basketball is a team sport. Too many young folk not realizing that a team with 4 HOF starters will shut down anyone.
Get the broom larry got some mj sweeping to do
Well MJ did have Charles Oakley. Not a major scorer but a defensive guy intimidater.
Yeah… MJ was still missing a Scottie and Phil at this point
Oh and JJ Reddick thinks the modern game is more physical. Lol
13:00 if those clutch freethrows was shot by bron, thatll be automatic L. 🤣
😂 yoooo… I almost said that in the video but I restrained myself
@@MarcTheSparcTV
You are changing. You might not realize it but I see it!
Sechting!!!!!!!
Smh 🤦🏾♂️
@@MarcTheSparcTV syh bro look at the guy play when he was subbed in. He was a terrier. And a good shooter from everywhere.
He and wedman never grt the credit they deserve coming off the bench. Solid back ups you can rely on not to throw it away.
MJ=0, LB=6 NBA PLAYOFFS
Facts!
Yes. 63 points and he lost - and that's why Jordan is not better than Bird.
Jordan figured out that no one man can beat the Celtics
Yo Bird cant look like this euro dude.. Bird was here 1st
I know what you mean… but you know what I mean… they look alike
@@MarcTheSparcTV dude look again closely, nobody and I mean nobody has a Larry Bird Mullet hairdo. A mullet is an infamous haircut, EXACTLY like Bird's...ALl that hair coming out from under the ears.....................
@@danreed5171
I LOVE Larry’s mullet!
@@irishgrl word kid he rocked it
Celtic's swept the bulls
MJ 0 for 6 in the playoffs.
Basketball is a team sport not and that is why I never cared for Michael Jordan and the Bulls - too selfish with the ball.
Double MJ?
OR
Just let him do his thing and and play team basketball.
He was a selfish player. A complete ball hog.
Bird swept him TWICE.
