Ryu’s s.HP is so funny because he just walks up to you while maintaining constant eye contact and fully extends his arm to Strike you square in the nose.
Thank you for pointing out how strong Ryu's stand HP is. It never gets talked about because Ken has the same button with 1 less frame of recovery and more reward, even still that button is still one of the most mindless buttons in the game, Ryu just still sadly suffers from the Ken does it better problem even with his strongest tools.
Ryu does have one advantage is that his St. HP combo's from Cr. MK-> drive rush where Ken's doesn't. This is why every time I hear someone online whine about Ken's 5 AcTiVe FrAmEs I just sorta roll my eyes because Ryu's . . .also has 5 active frames. . .
I felt for that first AKI player so much lmao, could literally pick out the moments where they completely forgot a combo or messed up a slide cancel because it's *exactly* what I've been doing since she came out
1:20:37 “Chun li is one of the best characters in the game cause her buttons are so good” The chun the proceeds to hit every single good button as if to prove his point
I've been extensively labbing ryu's stun combos and i haven't found a combo where denjin doesn't add damage with optimal routing. It makes it extra funny.
The damage difference between his corner combos with/without using the denjin charge isn't all that much. Strategically, it's more often better to have that charge ready to go after the combo, rather than spending it, because it's such a good conversion/pressure/zoning tool.
The only other player that I saw that use heavy punch so much was Daigo, and that was entertaining for the brief time that he used Ryu. Edit: Actually rewatching Justin Wong's Modern Ryu from about 1 month prior to this vid, i realised he also used a ton of St.HP. Great minds really do think alike.
I'm only at the beginning, but damn, now I'm going to have a hard time not seeing Ryu as stoned in his intro. (Also shoutout to the alias "Pablo Escobear" for that Gief player.)
I learnt so much about Ryu in just the first 10 minutes. I did not realize just how good s.HP was and the fact that it just turns into Sol f.S once your opponent is in burn out lmao. Great job on the video
Hell yeah ! It's nice to see the Jam again,I actually just bought sf6 Friday and spend my whole weekend off playing it😂 literally just put the fightsitck down and see you uploaded a video! What timing 😂
Big GGs! The indepth explanations on your play really helps not only help me understand how to beat certain playstyles strategies but insights on improving my play as well. I’ll be sure to work on my heavy punches. 🫡
It’s funny to me to see this because when I first bought this, my old gaming friend who used to play fighters and is very good said the same thing about that punch. He used it very similarly as well 😂 even gave me a good fight after I’d been playing it a few days before he’d even tried.
It's funny because players keep complaining about Ken 5HP when Ryu's is the exact same, in fact Ryu's has a better hitbox iirc. Then again, Lily and Jamie are also considered low tier while still possessing some very broken buttons. Lily having the best pokes and hitboxes in the game. But that's not really what matters in the current meta.
There is an upper and lower limit where you can place depending on other characters and the questionnaire you fill out the first time you enter rank. D1 is literally the highest you can go.
All ryus are stoners or drug addicts if you play this game and you're not sober you probably play him. Him as a character was meant to appeal to the Stoner Archetype.
Find a button and press it, it really is just that simple huh. 31:10 imagine thinking you need to know optimal combos for characters when you can just standing heavy punch.
After watching this I tried to incorporate lots of HP in my Ryu play with only moderate success. Clearly, I have much to learn before I master the way of the Heavy Punch.
The guile player “TheSaltTrader” always one and done on me, idk what I did to make him hate me so much. Doesn’t matter who wins. Is it because I play Manon?? I just wanna run the set
When I did my placement matches I won 7 or 6 out of 10 and it showed as if I was Platinum 5 stars but then placed me at Platinum 1. Does anyone know what that was? Thank you!
Jeez. Sajam said "So um, like, I'm the best Ryu player of all time, and at that moment I received a discord notification and it said "Can confirm." So. I guess Sajam is the best Ryu of all time. It's been confirmed. 😂🎉
High level Ryu’s don’t play like this, that said I plan to start playing like this so my opponents too can think to themselves, who is this Ryu and why is he so genius? 😂
Ryu’s s.HP is so funny because he just walks up to you while maintaining constant eye contact and fully extends his arm to Strike you square in the nose.
hard out here in these street
"Imma put my fist out here, and if you run into it, that's on you."
😂I actually laughed hard enough to clear out my congestion 😂. You did it again Standing heavy punch 🤜🏼
Hit 'em with that Goku vs. Jace
Ryu is just an honest guy who makes his emotions clear and simple to understand
"It's not called Streets Fighter" speaks to me in a way that it really shouldn't.
Damn he wasn't kidding about the whole "this fist is everything to me" thing
Ryu when anybody gets within a 5 foot radius of him:
>Deploys heavy punch
>"An opening!!!"
as someone who plays Ryu, I'm watching this and thinking "wait, I should hit heavy punch way more"
mp and mk are to addicting.
it's true
This happened to me with chun li, once sajam showed how broken her forw MP was I mauled ppl with pokes
I thought I already pressed HP with Ryu plenty. But never thought to center my whole offense around it. But I am inspired.
This is the most fair and balanced climb to master in SF6 history.
"Perfectly Japanese, as all things should be." - Tanosu Hirohito-kun
This is the most standing and heavy punch to master in SF6 history.
Fair and honest footsies by mr honest footsies himself
Ethical heavy punches.
A downright fierce climb to master

Both these guys ordered extra meat on their meaties.@@hockey1973
Yes finally!!!! Ryu from Streets!
from street!
I felt for that first AKI player so much lmao, could literally pick out the moments where they completely forgot a combo or messed up a slide cancel because it's *exactly* what I've been doing since she came out
We'll get there, it's month two by the time that's consistent tho lol
Ryu Simpson always did say, "Good old Standing Heavy Punch. Nothing beats that."
My favorite part from each Road to Master is the inevitable moment where Chat commits to something incredibly stupid and Sajam is over it.
I love when he stuns the opponent, builds charge and just do: J heavy punch, S heavy punch, B heavy punch into heavy punch shoryuken
Respect on waiting for that AFK Luke to get back instead of whaling on him for a free win, certified wholesome Sajam moment
1:20:37 “Chun li is one of the best characters in the game cause her buttons are so good”
The chun the proceeds to hit every single good button as if to prove his point
Standing heavy punch to master, been a long time coming
When i first watched this stream i couldn't help but think "damn it's just that simple huh" i never felt more like a fool in my life.
Fundamentals >>>>>>>>>>>
I like how he always denjin charges during stun but doesn't actually use it in the combo
@@BadmanOfBanterbury some combos do like 500 more damage which is a lot imo. Idk i think it's worth it sometimes.
@@brian_cream We just made the same point. It's context dependent, and player strategy dependent. Both decisions are viable.
@@BadmanOfBanterbury you're so right. Bless you for being so reasonable.
that first guile’s ex-flash kicks per second reached record heights. He should be studied in a lab
The only other player that I saw that use heavy punch so much was Daigo, and that was entertaining for the brief time that he used Ryu.

Good to see Sajam playing Henry Heavypunch
If my silver experience has taught me anything about playing Ryu, it's that nothing beats standing heavy punch into shoryuken
I'm only at the beginning, but damn, now I'm going to have a hard time not seeing Ryu as stoned in his intro. (Also shoutout to the alias "Pablo Escobear" for that Gief player.)
The spirit of Strive Season 1 Sol far slash rides again.
Ryu reminds me of the funniest martial arts advice i ever received. "There is an off button located behind your opponents nose, just perss it."
this is the 3rd character im playing and i started today and this is the perfect guide lfggg
Sajam is so consistent, it really makes me want to get into fighting games
Ryu's theme in this game feels like Rumbleverse music. I miss Rumbleverse :'(
36:20 the sneak diss to dsp was beautiful. love a crossover episode
Oh, you're a Fierce Punch fan now?
We've found Ryu's million dollar move
I learnt so much about Ryu in just the first 10 minutes. I did not realize just how good s.HP was and the fact that it just turns into Sol f.S once your opponent is in burn out lmao. Great job on the video
Hell yeah ! It's nice to see the Jam again,I actually just bought sf6 Friday and spend my whole weekend off playing it😂 literally just put the fightsitck down and see you uploaded a video! What timing 😂
I've been waiting for this one. I need to work on getting better with Ryu.
I’ve watched this like 4 times and “I’m fucking pulling up brother” gets me every time 😂
Damn he’s heavy punching
If you think about it, his DI kinda looks like a heavy punch
He's not gonna sugarcoat it
You get stand HP after punish counter HK. Very good for his punishes.
"That's a supertf combo" I'm crying
I can’t believe Sajam dropped every character to play Ryu
TheSaltTrader deserved all the punishment
The thumbnail had me dying before I even started to watch the video.
I really do need to heavy punch way more. The amount of times I get drive impacted from ending my strings with hadoukens is holding me back.
I see you pressing standing heavy punch 5 times in a row on round start, I'm learning
Big GGs! The indepth explanations on your play really helps not only help me understand how to beat certain playstyles strategies but insights on improving my play as well. I’ll be sure to work on my heavy punches. 🫡

stand HP being raw confirmable is so good and I feel like people don't abuse that enough
You can feelthe Sol experience seeping through
the only appropriate name for this video
I love every time he takes the chance for a guranteed Denjin and then doesn't use it. Unironically. It makes me so happy and I don't know why
Let's go Ryun Reynolds.
When standing HP forced stand I lost it
Damn, he's Swingin'.
He really came so far since sf2 now we must defeat his h.p. to stand a chance!
40:12 - 40:24 was straight heat
The alt title to this should be: The duffing of a lifetime
Trading in Pauly Pierce for that umami stand fierce
Standing Heavy Punch
Standing Fierce
5HP
"Right there!"
"An opening!"
19:36 lmao i didnt even know gief still had that move! xD
Hard out here in these street
As a Ken player I like to mash HP when I use Ryu 😂 it feels good af in this game.
Plot twist: Ryu was actually a Samurai Shodown character this whole time
damn he swangin that thang
I swear sajam has extra 1ft of reach on his heavy punch mine feel like t-rex arms
spacing.
Anytime I play someone who has better footsies than me this is how I feel. Just goes to show how solid Sajam’s fundamentals are
It's funny because players keep complaining about Ken 5HP when Ryu's is the exact same, in fact Ryu's has a better hitbox iirc.

it's so crazy you beat a 37k LP master during placement and the game still only can put you in D1
There is an upper and lower limit where you can place depending on other characters and the questionnaire you fill out the first time you enter rank. D1 is literally the highest you can go.
@@curiosityunbound5460 so what's wild actually is the initial comment already says i knew that
1:51:15 he def has the Ryu talk down. way to get into character!

Name probably should've been Freddy Fierce

All ryus are stoners or drug addicts if you play this game and you're not sober you probably play him. Him as a character was meant to appeal to the Stoner Archetype.
Well shit, I should pick up Ryu then
He likes going on walks in shit sandals, he's a "world warrior", he's always zening out outside, he thinks he can control electricity.
Most calm Ryu player
lol nah, fuck shotos bro
I should try that lmao
supertf mentioned :o
Find a button and press it, it really is just that simple huh.
31:10 imagine thinking you need to know optimal combos for characters when you can just standing heavy punch.
When Justin Wong beats players with only one button its degenerate, when Sajam beats people by only pressing HP its called footsies
handsies
After watching this I tried to incorporate lots of HP in my Ryu play with only moderate success. Clearly, I have much to learn before I master the way of the Heavy Punch.
As a Ryu main in Silver... I should REALLY use HP more
The guile player “TheSaltTrader” always one and done on me, idk what I did to make him hate me so much. Doesn’t matter who wins. Is it because I play Manon?? I just wanna run the set
Serious question: Why do so few Ken/Ryu's on streams/youtube not Tatsu over the fireballs?
It’s really not as reliable as an answer in this game compared to sfv. Way harder to do it on reaction and the consequence for fucking it up is dire
Can we get a set of sajam vs brian_f first to 10?
@Sajam 15:45 literally, yes, that was my EXACT thought about three minutes prior as I'm watching this. 😂
SkullCrackRyu ❤
Wow, this is just how I play ken
Was hoping for Huell Doken.
When I did my placement matches I won 7 or 6 out of 10 and it showed as if I was Platinum 5 stars but then placed me at Platinum 1. Does anyone know what that was? Thank you!
Huh... I should hit heavy punch way more
Idk why people say they need to add Balrog into SF6, Ryu’s HP is right there

Imagine ragequitting and seeing your CFN Id on this stream.
For sure he did JP second to last because he knew chat was going to piss him off and ryu last to wash the salt off.
Sajam keeps getting mad at AKI players for missing their jump in, which was a constant problem for himself when playing her.
Sajam comedy hour as he's the only one in the club, as all Ryu players are.
Jeez. Sajam said "So um, like, I'm the best Ryu player of all time, and at that moment I received a discord notification and it said "Can confirm." So. I guess Sajam is the best Ryu of all time. It's been confirmed. 😂🎉
not enough light hashogeki to fake fireball

Not to be a complainer but am I the only one who’s max picture quality is 360p?
This happens because RUclips takes a long time to upload the higher resolution of long videos when it was uploaded recently
Every time s.HP connected I got a little angrier.
19:10 lmao
I've been btfo'd in a bunch of these road to master videos. I'm tired boss...
And yeah i stopped mashing jabs on wake-up and now i'm diamond 5 so i've learned
