For all of Manon's flaws or whatever, I'm still having so much fun with her to drop her. Might pick up AKI as an alt, but I plan to stick with Manon for the long run. Just a few matches away from Diamond 1. I watched this stream live and it was nice watching Sajam play Manon and learning what I can improve on, etc. Great stuff!
He was thinking about maining her outside of this climb for that reason, but decided against it because he just can’t get behind how bad her normals are, and no projectile. Two important things for a Sajam character.
@@TheCoolguymanly I can understand that. She's basically slightly undertuned, her normals could get a bit of recovery here and there shaved off. And playing without a projectile in a SF game is a very different affair, maybe even more in SF6 than previous ones.
I think (as a Manon player) she's ever-so slightly slept on. She's about as mid-tier as it gets, but you can beat a lot of people due to how strong her anti-airs are. Let alone 90% of the people you fight think her level 1 throw is gonna do gief ex spd damage, and will just hold up most of the time. I found her climb to be fairly easy once I focused on frame trapping and patience, instead of building medals and using command grab. Most matches I win I'm rarely above 3 medals. I just think the payoff for them isn't quite there yet.
Yeah, she's only a little undertuned. I think she'd benefit from a few more frames of fireball invincibility on her spin and some minor adjustments here and there

Another personal change I would like, is if she got the medal credit, and bonus medal damage on spin applied to the first hit. That way going into level 3 off it would pay off a little more damage-wise, but also it'd help set up her wincon. As is, outside of a huge bar dump for a kill, comboing into her level 3 almost never feels worth. You can just combo into level 2 for slightly less damage and not burn yourself out and saving a bar for reversal/follow-up kill. Could go any number of ways though.

I felt your struggle. Havning to think about your inputs makes it so hard to play. I just swapped to arcade stick today and I'm having a hard time for now. Gonna stick with it though as it feels intuitive despite being slower than pad and I'm going through ps4 controllers too quickly
My only recommendation is figure out "how you want your fingers to be placed". It seems the old school way is hitting every button with only 1-2 fingers. I use "1 finger per row of bottons". Index for light. Middle for medium. Ring for heavy, and pinky for taunt/ ex.p/k / D.I/parry
So far I've also assigned my fingers to specific buttons in the order of index/mid/ring/pinky for light/med/heavy/Di and the same fingers for the kicks except for light kick which I just use my thumb for so I can quickly throw. Decided to just try a new character while I'm at it because while learning as 'll try to do things I'm not capable of on the new input yet of I play Chun.
For Manons flaws she has one definitve strength. When youre better than the OP you can FEEL it. You just completly spin thier ass and they cant keep up.
EX Spin is invulnerable to High and Overhead attacks (I think Lows can still hit you), so when you have a Blanka or Honda that just LOVE spamming their charge move, EX Spin can pretty consistently punish it so you don't have to time anything. Plus, free Medal too :D

Fellow Manon players, when you confirm a medium into drive rush crouching medium punch, back heavy punch, hit-throw, do you need to manually confirm it or is there an OS to make the drive rush come out only on hit?
Basically I only use drive rush cancel on guaranteed hits, punishes and stuff. Otherwise better to do safer and meterless strings into her good knockdowns 236HK gives enough time to get dash forward light command throw on anybody on anyone
The nice thing is that if you autopilot MP > Drive rush > cMP, if you then notice that they blocked the string, you’re now in a situation where you’re +2 on block at point blank. So you dont get your hitgrab combo, but you do suddenly have a command grab mixup situation where they have to guess as if you just hit your HP>HP vacuum target combo. So you can just run your strike throw command grab mixup anyways which is pretty powerful. Good luck manon gamer
cr mk, st mk, st hp, st hk... Ken has so many good ass buttons, I swear his HK is the best punish counter in the game, thing goes from a simple poke to a beefy combo real quick At least he doesn't have a fireball... oh wait

Sajam in his few hours of playing her plays her better than 80% of the community. Manon players(myself being one) are mostly lazy and would rather complain than figure out her unique style/abilities
it's not complex tbh. Just use her buttons. That's really it. Most Manon players be doing full screen slides and jump nonstop. I'd say it's more about bad habits over being lazy.

Part of what makes modern characters dumb strong is a powerful dp. The other part is a good level one to blow and punish a lot of stuff. Manon has no dp, her level one only punishes some stuff close and her combo execution is baby easy for the most part. Her anti airs are also easy as hell. My expectation would be classic Manon is much better than modern. I'd recommend like a shoto or cammy, chun-li or juri. Zangief is kind of a wild card because his default inputs suck and even modern Marisa is really good. I think you will see the most success with those on modern. I'm not convinced modern Manon, guile, Honda or dhalsim are worth a ton. My 2 cents take it for what it's worth.
Her overhead is really good against defensive players and charge characters, since they crouch alot. And that standing MP when they are burned out NEVER gets old!
I hate when people say "why does x dev hate x thing" like get over yourself lmao it's a game. Just cause something isn't as good as you want it doesn't mean anyone is out to get you or your character.
I think she's going to get a major buff after Capcom cup. Because I noticed a lot of fgc RUclipsrs are starting to play with her now. To see if she's actually good. I'm starting to think they got some inside information
she can't dRush into plus frames into a million damage like most of the top tiers, she also lacks an invincible DP which is kinda huge in this game since pressure is so overwhelmingly good and she's pretty vulnerable to DI. She ends up with the Ryu problem where she doesn't really have strong ways of opening the opponent, so you either have to play neutral really well or go for big dumb reads, as inflammatory as it sounds, if your character has to play neutral in this game to get things going, they're mid tier at best, cuz SF6 is all about the cheap stuff.
She’s very much the closest the game has to a “noob killer” kind of character, Sajam himself even practically admitted as such at the end of this stream when someone pointed out “damn you’re finally playing my character and all I’ve learned is that I need to do the simple stuff I already do, better”. To which Sajam rightfully pointed out that Manon is the kind of character/archetype where an experienced, multiple Master Rank characters player like him, is going to easily beat less experienced and not as good players, with a simple, straightforward gameplan. His Manon winrate ends up being nearly but not quite as high as his Kimberly one. But you could tell, whenever he went up against either a Master Ranked player, or a player who was also doing a multiple character Master Rank climb and was on a similar skill level to him, he really struggled to get anything going with Manon. Because those players weren’t “noobs” and knew easy and simple counterplay to her extremely limited options.
The name would be better as Judo Judy. Doesn't really make grammatical sense the way you had it. Like when you had Spraycan Sam, it would have sounded weird to be Sam Spraycan. Now that I think about it, Spraycan Sajam would have been best lol
Manon might be the most "honest" character imo. She rarely ever gets to force the issue especially in netrual but she has great callout tools and reactionary buttons to make up for it,she has the potential to do crazy damage but it requires you to win several interactions first to get there and it's not to uncommon to die on your own offense. I think she's leagues better then geif or lily but when those characters win its usually a cheap robbery,winning with manon is usually just you being right and playing some swag ass netrual and that feels pre great. Her overhead is fucking stupid and cheap tho
That overhead is my favorite tool against guile. I hit so many free ones cause theyre charging down so often lol. The matchup still sucks but as far as hitting the overhead, guile is free lol.
@@heavyhauler426 You can punish her blocked overhead on a lot of ranges. She has a very large extended hurtbox during the -9 recovery frames, if you try it out in training I am sure you will be able to find punishes for it.

press f, f or parry during animation, same as any cancellable move (except lights, only ff for them)
