A cop with 30 years experience shouldnt have been so easily conned, unless he was a desk jockey. A call to the issuing bank could have verified account status, but commissions on boat sales are huge, and he probably saw dollar signs.
Never talked to a child have you?... People are easily conned. It doesn't matter what branch of service you are from, when it comes to taking money from someone, most people will go with the money over their gut.
Good luck buying anything large without one. Dealership should have confirmed a few things before accepting it. A simple phone call would have been enough.
Agreed, never take a cashier's check; for one thing, no two look alike, every bank has their own so they're easy to fake. Also, even if it's legitimate , it can be stopped.
@@Flussig1 No, a cashier check cannot be stopped, that's the whole entire point of them. Once you get a cashier check, the money is immediately out of your account and no longer yours, it's in care of the issuer who must honor that cashier check. Again, that's the entire point of them, otherwise they wouldn't exist, they would just be normal checks.

Why would you put a tracker on someone else's boat?
