Up here in the Great White North we use those savage rates for 2 kinds of product, fungicides, and desicants. Every mostly the 100L/ha rate for in crop, and pre burns. occasionally we can do the 50l/ha. Were in the same boat as you in terms of fill times our tank is only 2850 L.
Ahhhh the sweet smell of prep and deaf! You boys are defoliating and we are just going good planting our cotton. It looks like you’re on two and two 32 inch rows. We plant solid 40 inch. Years ago we planted 2 and 1 40’s on dry land. Solid on irrigated. Switched to solid 16 row in early 2000’s.
When all is said and done, there is still a lot of work to be undertaken, even when the crop has being taken off, and the ground needs to be cultivated, to get rid of the pupae etc, I really do take my hat off to you all, its not easy, thats for sure, but it certainly gives everyone an appreciation of what is involved, really enjoyed the video, cheers from across the pond in NZ.
Get your dad to review the caravan after a trip. The good bad ugly. Interested in getting a van want to see people do and don't like. Fuel econ, weight, your solar and elec setup, Ute performance etc. Cheers 🚜
Hey Brad love the content and was wondering about how you fellas deal with the feral pigs? Be careful not to get in trouble with you tube. We in the US rely on the bang stick and lead poison. Ha ha keep up the good work guys
from Canada again, just sat down with a drink, all settled in and the vid was over too quick, but great drone shots. nice to see Dad's water tank on the trailer working so well, G'day on ya.........
Such a natural in front of the camera. Given Brad’s history as a contract sprayer has ever totaled up the hours spent in a spray rig. 😂. How many hectares do you have in cotton ? Will you have to get a contractor in to harvest the cotton or can you adapt your own equipment. Thank you for the video
We have to slow him down on the sprayer now so we don’t break things😂 we have about 300ha of cotton in and there will be contractors coming in to pick it👍
So much water hemp would be much better way more material better fibers.awesome video boys missed the main star I'll bet he's on one of his missions all will be revealed in time .the young bloke needs to have a look at that leak in the trailer i think matt was probably a bit rough on it .thanks for going deep brad informative
Chick peas or Barley? I reckon have a look at a cover crop , plow it back in and feed the soil for the next summer, and if you run out of moisture you won’t have spent a small fortune on fertiliser, for not much gain .
Another great video! If you continue to plant cotton, do you think you'll be able to set up a "smart" sprayer to only spray the plants and not the gaps?
We’ve got plenty of water here in Scotland Brad for your sprayer, we use 200lits per hectare of water here with roundup on old grass land. You should have a hog roast or Barbie with those Porkers in the cotton either a few tinnniesv😂
Great video. The issue with following crop either chickpeas or barley? Chickpeas might give higher return but I hear, management is a bit sketchy with fungicides, they will add nitrogen for the following crop as an \additional bonus. Barley will probably need plenty of nitrogen following cotton but it is a lot easier to grow if you avoid the grubs and frost at the end of the season. Good debate on water usage, with your spraying rig and experience I would have thought that 100L was more than enough, particularly given the density of the crop, magic weather window you had and a repeat application was happening anyway. For the piggies, find where they are coming in, probably a drainage line, and get the neighbours involved to set up a couple of bait stations. Baiting with hoggone drops them like flies and is much more effective than shooting, and the least number of outsiders on the property the better. Have a talk to the Local Land Services and do a group batting. Thanks for the video, hope it’s warmer than here.
Great job on the video Brad, I didn't know that you had to kill the cotton or it would keep growing. Plus a question about the month problem. Will they become a problem for the farm and harm other crops in the future.
Hey guysWhat’s the reason for not allowing the cotton to grow anymore than you have it,Is it because the harvesters won’t pick it up or because the spray bars will be too low. Also barley or chick peas, well whatever is most profitable I guess.
not sure if you people follow Cole the Cornstar? he's running a series of everyday of running a farm the expenses and the financial outcome. been very interesting. He really want to educate people about how hard farming is and where there supermarket products come from all us hard working farmers. Keep up all the good videos enjoy them every time they come across my youtube. take care everyone on any farm
Dumb question, but you kept talking about adding water to the crop....I assume that there was a chemical involved as well?? Great to see that you tried a little experiment there at the end run to see what difference there would be. Always thinking ahead you guys !!!
Chick peas or barley??? Well, since chick peas are right near the bottom of edible foodstuff and barley is way further up the chain of usefulness, I'd go for barley. BUT - as a business person I would go for the crop that will give the highest profit, all going well.
In Imperial it works out to 17.8 gals/a. In the 80s we used to desiccate Oil seed rape (Canola) at 40 gals/a or 450 litres/ha. Our water boy was a busy boy.
@@leonbystrzanowski that’s a bunch of water! The only way I could get my spray to put out that kind of volume is to slow the ground speed to a crawl! Lol
I'm certainly no farmer, just a bulldozer guy for 35 years. How come you guys dont build a small lake for water retention so you can draw your water from a lake? Are lakes not allowed in Australia? great video, Long Live Texas

Go the barley, worth more I believe.

Just the right amount of talking Brad, explaining enough without droning{lol} on.
What are the pros/cons for chickpeas/barley?
Farming - a never ending experiment to find the best option.

Chickpeas for the win in double crop this year hopefully 🤞
Always impressed with the drone piloting. But this one was tops.
I enjoy the content team keep them coming
Plant the crop you make the most money out of Brad.

Fantastic drone footage and should be interesting to see if there is a clear line at the 100ltrs a hectare patch 🏴👍🏻
Good morning from Texas

I wouldn't/couldn't stop Brad. You describing is enough :)
BARLEY 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Most RUclipsrs get t-shirts for their merch store from China, but you guys have decided to glow you're own.
Now that’s an idea, no idea how to do it though😂
Export it to China and send it back
The cotton crop was bountiful this year but I might as well not even planted any polyester plants the yield was so poor.😢
Chickpeas or Barley......simple answer.....Barley.....who has ever heard of a refreshing beverage made from Chickpeas 🙃😉😁
Don’t worry Brad, at least it’s yellow, it’s even a pretty close colour match to Cat yellow.
interesting learning about cotton
How many different crops do yaw plant
Good job guys
Barley and produce your own label Malt extract. Lots of B vitamins.
❤❤💯💯
Great job on the video Brad, I didn't know that you had to kill the cotton or it would keep growing. Plus a question about the month problem. Will they become a problem for the farm and harm other crops in the future.

Lucky Matt you were water boy so could get the drone out.
Even driving brads ute.
Chickpeas
G’day Brad could you consider chickpeas in that country this winter? I haven’t seen a good header fire for a couple of years 😂

Do you guys grow feed Barley, or Malting varieties?
Mostly feed👍
I vote barley! This has nothing to do with the drinks you can make from it
😊
Do you worry about spray drift
Yes we have to be careful of any susceptible crops and weather conditions👍
A very interesting video Brad. What are the pro & cons for planting Barley or Chick Peas. I am a retired Dairy Farmer and I live in Gippsland.
Chickpeas don’t like it too wet but they put nitrogen in the soil, barley yields well but may need extra nitrogen to get there👍
Those guys in the upper hemisphere would travel at 10 MPH
Hey up Brad how many times a year would youse normally go out piggin, good video again
There is maybe 2-5 chopper shoots a year around our area plus we deal with whatever we see👍
@@thejacksonbrothers thought it would be something like that, thanks for the response
Dumb question, but you kept talking about adding water to the crop....I assume that there was a chemical involved as well?? Great to see that you tried a little experiment there at the end run to see what difference there would be. Always thinking ahead you guys !!!
Yes the chemical to defoliate the cotton was in there too, higher water rate means more water particles to get all over the leaves👍😁
11:29 Brad? Why are the wings coming out Brad?
He is just unfolding the booms after travelling back from filling up👍
@@thejacksonbrothers have you not seen Top Gun 2 yet?
Did you talk about planting your cotton in 2 rows spacing? Just wondering is that because of your soil can't handle a full field.
It was mentioned in the previous cotton video titled everything to know about cotton👍 usually only those spacings for non irrigated crops
@thejacksonbrothers I missed that somehow. I try to watch all your videos.
Why such wide spaces between rows
Why is three crop spaces so wide apart Matt?
It’s so the plant can access moisture after it’s matured, in the previous cotton video it was mentioned👍😁

I think 200L/ha works out to just over 21G/ac. 20G/ac is a pretty common application rate for us here in the US.

You guys wouldn’t know Scott and Jo McCallum would you? It can be a small world!
One of us may but I don’t think I have met them👍
Don't get the drone too close to that defoliant, the propellers will fall off.
Chickpeas
Wonderful videos Farming equipment. thank you!!
